I Alone Am The SSS-Rank Regressor-Chapter 26: Selections (Intro)
[The Day After]
Mikhail had accepted the request given to him by the system.
Though he couldn’t understand the purpose of the quest.
In his mind, the quests given to him by the system related with his future in this life.
Not just the Character Progression, but the overall meaning of the quests as well.
In a sense, the previous quest did relate to his future.
It allowed him to change a significant point of his previous life, turning around the complete future.
So he couldn’t understand how this new quest would do that.
Or maybe it wasn’t meant to have any relation to his future and were just random quests at the current point in time.
Mikhail made that hypothesis just after one quest after all.
Last night, the list for all the aspects in the assignments test had been given to him.

A total of 8 categories, unlike the usual 10.
Categories like Medical Tests etc weren’t able to be conducted right now.
Quite a portion of the infirmary had been damaged under the attack and the rest was still filled with heavily injured cadets.
In any case, in the given 8 categories, Mikhail always took Physical Tests and Mental Examination.
He had the top record in both of the tests.
And while he could try doing the same for other records as well, he never did it.
Unfortunately or fortunately, because of the quest this time, he had to not only pick 3 different categories other than his usual ones.
He had to also top them at the 1st position.
From the above list, Mikhail already picked the 3 categories he was going to participate in.
They were Elemental Tests, Spellcasting Tests and One-on-One Spars.
For the first, he could guarantee himself a top position as a Norvalis Magus.
For Cindralis, it would be hard to beat Oscar and his talent in Aqualis wasn’t that high enough.
The second was obvious. His Dragma was the perfect tool for this aspect.
Not to mention his oath abilities that further allowed him to reduce his casting time.
As for the last category, it was obvious as well.
Just like his squadron, Mikhail himself was eager to fight them as well.
Only by assessing their abilities in battle himself would he be able to provide them further advice.
However, at the same time, he feared that this was the riskiest category he had taken.
Because of course, his squadron wasn’t going to be the only team he would fight.
And in fighting different people–even though he was confident he would win–there was definitely a chance for him to lose.
Which meant the failure of the quest.
All in all, he could just try his best.
Today was the first day of the assignment tests which would further span over a course of a week.
As he headed outside his tent, Mikhail was quick to see his squadron, waiting for him.
"Morning." He greeted, making their faces turn.
"Morning!" Oscar waved, gesturing to him to come quickly.
Joining them, the team started to move towards the grounds.
Unfortunately, they were due to separate soon because of their different categories.
There were 8 categories and the time was short. So the ideal way was to carry out multiple of them at the same time.
And with that, each category would have a different venue as well.
"It’s Physical Tests for me first." Icarus told the team, his arms wrapped behind his head.
"Elemental Tests for me." Oscarl declared in response as well.
"Survival Tactics for me." Yvan smiled.
All of them turned toward Modric, the second last person left.
"It’s Spellcasting for me," he said, showing no excitement unlike Icarus or Oscar.
Basically, all categories were open at all times. You could go and attempt at any time you wanted.
Except some certain ones.
At the end of the day, your record would just be shortlisted among the men.
As he had said before, it wasn’t an exam or anything. It was a simple fitness test conducted to see who was in shape.
As they were about to separate, Mikhail heard Yvan ask from him.
"What about you Mikhail? What are you going to attempt first?" He put his palm to his chin in curiosity.
Mikhail, not surprised by his question, barely showed a reaction on his face and answered after a moment of thought.
"I think I’ll take the Mental Examination first."
The first one to respond was Modric with a nod.
"That’s a good idea. The fresher you are in that category, the higher score you can obtain," he explained.
Mikhail returned the nod, affirming his words to the confused team.
Modric was used to taking the Mental Examination as well, so knew about it.
"Since the Mental Examination tests your willpower, your resilience and your pain resistance, it is advised to go and attempt it with a fresh mind."
Mikhail summed it up for the team, providing them the basic idea of the test.
Just as he expected, the team understood the rest of what he meant by those words.
"Ah," Yvan nodded to his words.
"In any case, let’s split up here. The faster we get done, the faster we can meet up later on." Mikhail advised.
Modric nodded, supporting his decision and the team followed a second later.
"Okay. Good luck to everyone! Let’s meet up here later with good news." Icarus smiled,
The team–except Mikhail, as always—smiled lightly at his words.
Icarus put his hand forward in a fist bump, gesturing everyone to join him
"On the count of 3, everyone join your hands as always."
In the team, it was common for Icarus to do this before any event.
According to him, it boosted his and the team’s morale for the event.
Seeing no problem as always, the team joined their hands together, even Mikhail.
"Alright, everyone! Once again, good luck for your assignment exams!" Icarus retraced his hand along with everyone, pushing it in the air.
"Yeah." Mikhail smiled lightly.
It was good to be back with them.
