I Alone Am The SSS-Rank Regressor-Chapter 37: Avalon’s Message
***
Rolling up his bandages, Mikhail walked back to his castle dorm where everything was already getting lively.
On the way, he was subjected to many stares but he had gotten used to it by now.
He had come to terms with the fact that it was going to be like this ever since he had been topping every category he was in.
And he knew this was the purpose of the mission too.
His mind went back to the flashback he had seen on the first day with Modric and Icarus in the room.
He remembered how their faces suddenly changed to rotten headless sacks resting in the snow.
His whole squadron laid dead before him with their bodies strewn out.
His own broken body covered in blood, resting against the wall of the warehouse in the wild.
He remembered those flashes from his past. It was his last days before his death.
But then, there was someone else with him.
A woman.
She was there with him in his last days, in the same condition as him.
Her face and features were blurred and so were the words she spoke to him.
He could remember nothing about her at all.
And then the vision had ended.
He still needed to find who that woman was.
Maybe someone from beyond the hold?
After all, it was where he had died.
He couldn’t be sure.
There wasn’t much to see in the vision, whether she was nice towards him or bad.
She might have just been the cause of speeding up his death or even delaying it.
He didn’t know this either.
But he knew one thing for sure, it was that she was tied to his death.
And potentially even maybe this oath imposed on him after he woke up.
He needed to find more about it.
And fortunately, he had found one main source for this after the main quest.
Character Progression.
He was currently at 15%.
And he was sure that the vision he saw with the girl after completing the quest was due to this.
Not only that but after the quest something else had changed too.

The first three words were visible now, just a little at least.
After that it was still, random letters.
He still couldn’t make any sense of it, even the first words on what they were.
But at least, he knew how to reveal the oath now.
After a month in this world, he knew the ropes around this new system now.
He basically needed to do the missions and the Character Progression would gradually reveal his oath and his past memories.
’Well, if it works like this, then fine by me.’
He still needed to find on what basis the missions were given to him though.
It would make it easier for him to predict the future ones and be more prepared.
Because he was only a misstep away from losing his life away in the first mission.
Lost in his thoughts, Mikhail didn’t realize when he was back at the castle grounds.
He was quite hungry so he headed straight to the kitchen where most of them were seated.
Only one category was left now.
One-on-One spars.
They were to take place in some hours so everyone could rest well.
Entering the mess, he saw his squadron already seated at the table.
"You’re back, congratulations." Modric congratulated him and started clapping.
The rest of them joined in with him.
Mikhail was sure they hadn’t even heard the news yet because they knew he would come first.
Every year, they started clapping without even hearing the marks first.
Mikhail gave them a slight smile.
"Thanks." He sat down on the last empty seat on their table.
Mikhail saw other people on the tables stare down at him too, but speak nothing.
Just like his squadron they had come to terms with the fact that he’d come first.
But as the people who gave the tests came from behind him, the kitchen turned into a staring session.
All of them were staring at him.
And of course, Icarus was immediately to point that out.
"Why is everyone from the tests staring at you like that? Did you kill a bastard on your way up or something?"
"Pfft-" Oscar restricted a laugh.
While on the other hand, Mikhail heard the creaking of several tables as the men were shaking in their toes to get up and start a fight.
Unfortunately, all the masters and Vlahovic were seated above too.
Mikhail saw other people who weren’t at the tests stare at him too, waiting for an answer.
Letting out a deep breath, Mikhail answered their queries.
"I broke my own record. Scoring 81, I was almost 8 whole minutes faster than the second place."
For a moment, Mikhail heard some forks dropping in the kitchen.
81!? Under Vlahovic’s Test!?
"Holy gracious fuck..." Icarus said, his eyes widening as he leaned back into his chair.
There was silence in the kitchen as the people tried to contemplate what Mikhail had just said.
As for the man himself, he was restricting himself from sighing.
He hated these types of moments. This quest was already piling a million problems on his head for the future.
And one was already about to start soon.
"Fuck this bastard." The silence was broken by a familiar voice from behind Mikhail. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Turning, he saw Cameron’s huge body staring down at his seat in anger.
He was glaring so hard that his eyeballs were almost popping out.
"This bastard definitely cheated!" He shouted, trying to grab Mikhail.
Mikhail didn’t even dare to dodge the hand as the guy was already thrown into the wall before it reached him.
Nobody saw what happened as it all happened in the blink of an eye.
Looking to his right, Mikhail saw Master Avalon dusting his hands.
"If you don’t want to eat your food then take your complaints down your ass."
As he was about to disappear again, Mikhail saw Avalon glare at him as well.
It was apparent that he was also displeased with the result.
But at least the man wasn’t delusional enough to not accept it.
As the others saw Cameron’s body smashed into the wall unconscious, they quietly went back to their own meal.
It was better to just accept the result now.
After all, how much more could they deny it?
The man in front of them was just a natural monster at everything.
What he was doing at the Ironhold and not in the Empire’s Army or in a Church’s ranks had them confused.
Well they couldn’t complain. He had saved their asses after all in the attack.
