“Of course your name is Steve. You look like a Steve, no, wait, I mean—wait… what? What?!” Kyle’s eyes bulged. He looked at his blonde-haired friend with mouth drooped wide open.

He quickly composed himself right after.

Well… I guess you could be a Steve… you look like one too… you have blonde hair and a frail, thin body. You also have the same features as him. So… it’s no wonder I did not recognize Captain America at first. I guess this is what he looked like before the Super Soldier Experiment? Since he’s here, then… it’s a definitive that I crossed through the Marvel Universe…

Kyle wasn’t sure whether he should be happy or afraid.

Sure, he was excited of having the chance to meet superheroes. That’d be pretty awesome, right? But then again, he’s sure the amount of headaches he’ll have dealing with the all too powerful villains would only run him dry.

It’s a good we’re still in the ’40s. It’s not the 21st Century yet so I’ll have a lot of time before I’ll need to worry about them. But to think the future Captain America is really standing right before me at this very moment. Wait… couldn’t this be considered as latching on to someone’s thighs, to someone who’d become the First Avenger? Pretty cool, yeah?

Kyle smiled goofishly and looked at Steve with a twinkle in his eyes which caused him a fright. His shoulder shuddered in fear and subconsciously took a step back.

“Cough… right…” Steve coughed and suddenly thought of something which was of utmost great importance. “The Commander said to inform you to see him once you awake.”

“Oh?” Kyle questioned. “The Commander wants to see me?”

He’d seen Captain America: The First Avenger before, and to say the least, he was a bit impressed with the Commander overseeing the recruit training. Steve had been targeted by him and his comrades before becoming the hero everyone loved and adored.

They only did so because his body was thin and frail.

Kyle sighed. Now he’d be the one to face his wrath. Maybe it was his bad luck. To faint and catch a heat stroke on the first day of recruit training, he felt an ominous feeling brewing.

Smiling gently, Kyle turned to his blonde-haired friend. “Steve, I don’t know where the Commander’s office is. If you would, can you take me there?”

Steve nodded. “That’s no problem.”

Thereafter, the duo walked out of the barracks and walked into the base’s inner road. The training grounds was colossal in size. The sun shone bright high above the blue azure as teams of recruits dressed in tracksuits ran while singing jodies back and forth.

“Hey… look… isn’t that Kyle and Steve?”

“A heat stroke on the first day of training? Truly not giving his all. What a shame.”

“They won’t last a week. Just leave ’em be.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go.”

The recruits sneered as they passed them by. Kyle came to know that those people lived in the same barracks as him.

“Kyle, no need to pay them attention.” Steve came from behind and patted his friend’s back.

Kyle nodded. He certainly never placed attention to them. They were only extras and were nothing of importance. He only needed to pay attention to Steve Rogers, the First Avenger.

Steve’s the only one qualified and worthy of being his comrade.

On the way to the Commander’s office, Kyle tested out the details surrounding the skill card system and soon enough, he managed to get the hang of it. So long as he’s within a three-meter-long distance from a human being, he’d be able to gather the person’s skill card and extract them.

The skill card categories were divided into two, an item card and an ability card. Item cards could not be extracted but ability cards could. The ability cards are the person’s skill that they learned and mastered throughout their given lifetime.

Common skill cards such as the 「 Beginner English Proficiency 」and 「 Beginner Driver 」skill cards were considered a white card. When one had proficient mastery, the color would turn green. However, the time taken to extract the green skill card was a bit longer than its counterparts.

Too preoccupied in his own thoughts, Steven brought him back to reality and nudged him on the shoulder. Looking up, he saw that they’d arrived at the entrance of the Commander’s office.

Steve quickly led the way.

“Sir, this recruit reports as ordered!” Kyle and Steve shouted in unison.

The two marched inside in military fashion and quickly stood at attention. They held the standard salute with their right hand raised over their right eyebrow and their bottom biceps lined parallel to the ground.

“Come in!” A voice both authoritative and dignified echoed.

Steve gulped. Breathing deeply, he walked into the Commander’s office with Kyle.
