Chapter 29 - Decompressing in a Restaurant

The testing halls weren't far from the outer circles, which suited Jules just fine. With the exams over, he needed a moment to decompress.

Jules walked out of the Institute's region and branched into a restaurant, eating as he lost himself in thought.

Magic is a damned drag!

Going through all that—studying runes, creating magic circles, understanding Magic Languages—was exhausting.

If not for my Mana Control, I wouldn't be able to use Tier-3 spells yet!

He clicked his tongue. Honestly, he was only pushing himself this hard because he liked it.

More beasts will appear, and skills will soon become more mainstream... Then, magic users will shine with their ranged attacks, and magic will rarely be used in close combat.

Skills could influence long-range attacks too, but for the most part, magic will be used since it's easier to access.

Knowing how things would progress in this world, Jules had decided to improve his swordsmanship, which complemented his versatile blood manipulation.

I don't need to study Magic much again, mid-tier spells will be good enough to support a Magic Swordsman. I can learn them gradually.

Hmm, I think it'll be the right time to get a Sword Art.

Using the Clan's own from Ryan's knowledge might make it easier to know my true identity, so I'll consider other factors.

Before Jules could ponder further, someone placed their hands on his table—their white, furry hands drawing Jules's attention.

Jules looked up to see a young lady with white dog-like ears, a wagging tail, and long white hair with pink streaks.

Isn't this Stella, Finn's not-so-secret admirer? What does she want?

Tilting his head slightly, Jules asked, "How may I help you?"

"I am Stella Ar-rina," She placed a hand to her chest as if expecting recognition to bloom on his face.

"..."

"Why are you quiet?" She asked.

"You did not answer my question," Jules said.

"Do you not know who I am? I am an Ar-rina!"

"Please, get to the point."

Jules knew this girl's boastful nature, and he didn't want to experience it.

Stella, who was about to explain her family's worth, suddenly swallowed it all.

Heh, you have a very funny look right now.

Jules faced his food with a smile on his face, eating to hide his amusement.

"Look at me," She said with disdain, "So? What was done in the Exams? Don't leave anything out."

As Jules looked up, he seemed to see her pink eyes grow deeper, making him recall her abilities.

She has a skill that lets her charm people passively, and the active part of it is even stronger. That's all Finn's guardian angel could say about it.

Maybe it was because he was aware of the skill, or he was just stronger than her, he barely felt anything. Just a mild discomfort.

"You're quite rude," Jules said with a sigh. "Did no one teach you to say please?"

He wasn't a fan of commanding and oppressive people.

Stella's lips parted in disbelief. "W-what?"

Before she could recover, someone slid into the seat beside Jules, exchanging looks between her and Jules.

It was a curly brown-haired young man with black eyes, donning a wool tunic and vest with durable-looking trousers. Two daggers were fit into a sheath at his waist.

Ryan smirked and whispered to Jules, "Are you bothering the lady?"

Jules's eyes twitched. At another table of the restaurant, he saw a group of pampered looking teenagers, who had just arrived, glancing at him.

These were Ryan's associates.

Jules brought out a prepared paper from his pocket and slid it to Ryan.

Updat𝓮d from frёewebnoѵēl.com.

It had the contents of the entrance exams, but Ryan's batch was tomorrow so he was different from Jules.

However, Jules had a rough idea of tomorrow's exam content and he had prepared Ryan for it indirectly after knowing his partner's exam date.

As Jules gave Ryan, he stood up and glanced at Stella.

"You can ask him for the exam content."

"Wait, I asked you!" Stella snapped.

But Jules gave a nod and bid them farewell.

Watching him leave, Stella glanced at Ryan, prompting him to ask, "To what do I owe the pleasure, my lady?"

She looked at him scornfully and left the restaurant too.

"What the fuck was that?" Ryan muttered as he looked at his new "friend group."

No one could answer, but Ryan, at least, looked entertained.

As Jules walked out of the Restaurant, he called a passing car–one made through Dwarves and Human cooperation and made his way to his Inn.

He thought back to Stella and muttered in a low voice, "I hope Ryan doesn't get enthralled by her."

This scenario also served to remind Jules that he would soon be forced to interact with more people in a few days.

Even in his past life, he wasn't used to school. In situations where he went to an actual school, he distanced himself from people and was also outcasted.

But he didn't think that'd be possible in this world.

Shifting his attention elsewhere, Jules thought to himself.

Should I tell Green to obtain a Sword Art for me?

Hmm... I should know what I want before I do that. Right now, I want something that I can use both as Jules and Veil, while still distinctive for the two personas.

Basically, something versatile.

As Jules's mind ran, he realized he had gotten to his destination, paid the driver and walked to his room.

In the meantime, I should try to expand my fundamentals in sword fighting. If not, I might lag behind in the Warrior department.

Yeah, I'll concentrate on my body and sword skills for now. There's also sword aura... I can substitute that with blood coating as Veil, but I still need that as Jules.

Taking off his shirt and falling onto his bed, Jules relaxed himself.

Heh, I hope the Heart gives me a skill that's not so related to Blood next time. Then I can probably use the skill as Jules.

I don't have to worry about people finding out I have an Archangel's Heart.. No one knows an Archangel ability, they are one of the most secretive beings in this world!

Archangels only became an important thing to everyone a year from now. Even I didn't know there was one called an Archangel of War.

That was why he felt safe using the Heart's power—no one even knew what the Archangels could really do yet.

If I complete my current quest, I'll use the +10 comprehension on the Heart, and I should attain something. This is the benefit of the System!

Jules willed his status to appear, looking at the changes between now and when he left the Clan.

A smile of satisfaction crept onto Jules's face as he slowly slept, washing away the hard work of the past month.
