I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 347: Devotion Spirit
Regulus's sword style was also the task he asked the people.
He trained his style by holding a heavy stone sword and swung it at a flying swallow.
The swallow was quicker than the average human reaction. Some humans with high agility could catch it. But that was only if they didn't use any heavy weapons.
The stone sword was the heaviest most unbalanced type of sword anyone could find.
Attempting to hit a swallow with the stone sword was impossible for humans. Even humans at the peak of their physical conditions.
Ashe looked at the heavy stone sword in her hand. The sword was almost as tall as her.
Siderius also had a stone sword that was even longer.
"We can't even hit a man with this. A swallow is simply unimaginable." Ashe said.
Siderius nodded. "Only the unimaginable can achieve the impossible."
Regulus was in front of them. He had changed to his fighter clothes, a suit of loose fabric and a pair of soft cloth boots.
"Siderius understands the core of the Mirage Blade. It is to realize the impossible by sheer force of will."
Regulus grabbed a handful of leaves and threw them into the air. The leaves floated chaotically around him.
Regulus swung his stone sword like it was made of paper. He turned into a blur.
When he finished, all the leaves were nicely folded on the broad stone blade.
"This is Mirage Blade."
"Wait. Aren't we going to slice a swallow or something?" Ashe said.
Regulus shook his head, "At first. I did. But out of respect for the forest, I'll change to leaves. It is less mobile than a swallow but perfectly fine for beginners like you to train." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Regulus gently placed the leaves on the ground.
"My style. Mirage Blade. It is an obsession. You must want it. Yearn for it. Dream it. Your will power is the fuel to bring you to where you want to go."
"Interesting…" Siderius rubbed his chin.
Anu Style was honesty. It could only work if the swordsman knew himself and knew the path he wanted to take.
Mirage Blade was the opposite. You need not to understand yourself. As a matter of fact, you need not to understand anything. There is only one truth. That is your obsession.
"Obsession. I disagree." Siderius said. "In my eyes, it's more like… devotion."
Regulus widened his eyes a little bit. "Devotion… That is…"
There was something happening inside Regulus. A knot that was opened. He had been finding the solution to this knot for a long time. That day was the closest he felt to achieve it.
Regulus approached Siderius, "Tell me more. It is important to me."
Siderius nodded. "Sit down with me."
The three of them sat in a circle. Siderius and Ashe sat in the hunter meditation position. Regulus also copied them.
"The difference between you and Kynidus that I saw is purpose. Kynidus is freedom. He does not care about anything. But at the same time, he cares about them all.
He does everything to fulfil one simple sentence. To never regret.
Yes. He encompasses his style entirely with this. He doesn't care about teaching Spirit Art to a pair of witches because he wants to help them.
He doesn't like those people worshipping him but he doesn't want to regret disappointing them either. He asks for freedom but the truth is, he isn't free at all. He has many shackles just like us.
But do you know what the difference between you and him is?"
"You said it before. It's purpose." Regulus said.
"But what do you think about it?"
"I think. That by chasing that freedom. He is not free at all. However…"
An aura exuded out of Regulus. "I understand now. He isn't free. But he chose that path. He chose that path so he won't ever regret it.
He is free. But at the same time, he isn't.
He is honest. But at the same time, he isn't.
Everything is because of his purpose. He trains for a clear purpose. His willpower fuels it.
I train. I invented the Mirage Blade. But what is my purpose?"
Siderius smiled, "You tell me."
Regulus might be a skilled spirit Swordsman. But he was still much younger than the 200 years old Siderius. He hadn't figured out his heart yet. And that's the most important thing about willpower.
Regulus took a deep breath. He stood up and closed his eyes.
Behind him, a forge of fire materialized. In the middle of it was an iron ore. His steel of will.
He had not reached the pinnacle of Spirit Swordsman yet. That was why he lost to Kynifus. He didn't create his own Spirit Blade.
But that changed now.
Regulus grabbed the air. The forge behind him appeared a humanoid figure similar to himself, it also looked like Regulus but was more primal, an unbound version of Regulus.
Regulus hammered the air. The projection hammered the piece of iron will. The sound of forging echoed throughout the Thorn Basin.
All the forest spirits appeared to observe.
"He finally succeeds!"
"He reaches it! He reaches it!"
"Master Minorius is a third rank swordsman now!"
The iron will slowly took shape. It was similar to his long thin blade.
Ashe watched everything in awe while Siderius observed closely to learn as many things as he could. He wouldn't have many opportunities watching Spirit Swordsman reach third rank.
Soon, the blade was completed. Regulus extended his arm. The Spirit Blade appeared in his hand. It was a long colorless and almost invisible Spirit Blade.
Regulus opened his eyes. He knelt down.
"Please accept my respect… Master Satterblade."
Siderius grabbed him and prevented him from going down. "Please. I can't take it. You are the Master here."
Regulus smiled and shook his head, "I trained in this art much longer than you. Yet I can't understand something so simple. My spirit rank might be higher than yours.
But my wisdom does not. You don't know how much you have helped me."
"This is simply an exchange, Master Minorius. You teach me the Mirage Blade. And I help you realize your path entirely."
Regulus smiled, "Certainly, Master Satterblade. Let me teach you the rest of my craft."
