I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 361: Chaos Hound
There were a total of five mutations in the Extima Rank. Eyes for Ocula. Ears for Sonara. Nose for Odora. Skin for Tengura. And Ultima.
Siderius had completed Ocula, Sonara, and two levels of Odora. He only needed one more level in Odora to complete it.
His first level in Odora used the nose of a wind spirit. So far, it had only provided him with enhanced smelling ability and nothing more. His second level in Odora used the nose of a Cyclops. Other than increasing his smelling, the Cyclops Odora also granted him the ability to trace the smell of flesh. It was similar to a blood hound but for flesh.
Now he needed a third mutation.
There were many options for the final level of Odora. The nose of a werewolf was very good. It had the Blood Sense ability which was very similar to Flesh Sense but for blood. The nose of a Leprechaun was perfect for greedy bastards that wanted to locate gold from miles away.
Siderius, however, had spotted something different. His men had found a new Chaos Beast inside the North territory. It was a Chaos Hound with a body as black as darkness. Its smelling ability was still unknown but from the stories Siderius heard, it should have a very effective nose. That was enough for him to try and catch it.
After the fight in the farm, the Knights led the slaves back to Snowfell and liberated them. Their curses were lifted by the apprentices.
Siderius assigned this task to them as a way for them to practice their Alchemy skill.
As for him, Siderius went on the road alone to find Chaos Hound.
The Hound stayed in a precise territory in the Rottin Woods and rarely went out. Finding it was easy.
Siderius wasted a few days to reach the Chaos Hound.
"No guardians nor forest spirit in Eldoria. This place was degraded too much because of the witches' corruption. No spirits are able to manifest. If they were, the witches should have slaughtered them all." Siderius thought to himself.
He arrived at the Hound's territory in mid-day. The Hound was resting in its leaf nest.
Siderius jumped down from Red very far away. His feet were light and they didn't make any noise. However, his intention was clear as day.
For some reason, the Chaos Hound was able to sense that. It lifted its head up and immediately went into battle position.
The Hound was much bigger than any ordinary canine. It was as tall as a horse and broad as a buffalo. Judging on its nimble legs, the Hound should be a very agile creature.
Siderius whistled high, provoking the Chaos Hound.
The black dog didn't think twice. It accepted the invitation and rushed to Siderius.
Siderius drew the sigil <Desino> in the air and froze the dog in its place.
He grabbed Blazing Soul and drew it out. Siderius had reforged the soul and made a few adjustments to it. The fire switch was removed as he no longer needed it to light the blade.
Siderius grabbed the bow on his back and placed the blade onto it.
Blazing Soul changed into an arrow. By upgrading it into Strong Steel, Siderius was also able to engrave Alchemical Seals on it, granting it the power to transform.
He released the arrow and by his will, it ignited in the air.
The arrow spun around itself. Another seal lit up on the blade, focusing the fire into a single point at the tip. That was Flame Concentration, a simple seal with a devastated effect.
As the arrow hit the head of the Chaos Hound, the single point of flame at the tip exploded and released all the Soul Flame inside.
A line of flame shot through the Hound and exited through the back of its head.
This was achieved by another seal called Energy Emission. This seal allowed Siderius to control the way the concentrated fire would be released. If he wanted to blow the hound into bits, he could do that.
Or in this case, he made the flame to release in a single line, maximizing damage but avoiding destruction to the Hound's body.
It fell to the ground and died without even understanding what was happening.
Siderius approached it and quickly cut out its snout. He stored it inside a specialized bag that would make sure its organs wouldn't decompose quickly.
He no longer needed to harvest wild meat. Snowfell had become too wealthy and he didn't need to worry about basic survival any more. But habit died hard. He still dissected it. He wanted to check if there was anything special about it and also to collect its Chaos Core.
He had acquired quite a few Chaos Cores already and didn't open them yet.
Siderius held the bloody Chaos Cores in his hand. "Another one. From what I've seen on the farm. There is probably a school of magic in this kingdom specialized in creating constructs. Those golems were a type of construct. As well as these Chaos Beasts. I wonder why they released these beasts to the wild?"
Siderius didn't care to find out why. Once he had cleansed this kingdom of all witches, every mystery would be exposed.
Siderius took the Cores, the ears, and a few valuable organs back to Santa Roberto.
He had used all the development tonics for rank 1 Witch Hunter so he couldn't dissolve more. But these organs could still be used to make development tonics for his apprentices and Knights.
Santa Roberto had become even busier the last few days. Many representatives of other noble houses came and went, signing treaties with Siderius and planning their betrayal to the Royal Court of Eldoria.
The day of all-out war was coming. It was very close.
Ashe was teaching swordsmanship to the guards in Santa Roberto. Her skill was not as good as Henry but it was still enough to teach the guards.
Henry was already busy teaching the soldiers and Knights so he couldn't spare some time to look after the guards.
When Ashe saw Siderius, her face lit up and she approached him. Ashe held the leash of Red for Siderius to climb down.
"You've returned, Master! Was the journey fruitful?" Ashe said.
Siderius nodded, "No problem. What about Santa Roberto?"
"Everything is going well, Master. The additional knights are well in their training with the Knight Code."
"And the politics?"
"Roland has been busy with the messengers, Master. There is no disagreement so far."
Siderius nodded, "You guys are really able to handle yourself now. I will be in my chambers. Call me when I'm needed."
"Yes, Master!"
