I am the Ruler of the Kingdom of Mysterious-Chapter 374 - 338: Threats
Modern times, the Sang Family.
Sang Que stood in the living room, holding the letter Sang Wan gave her, a manila envelope, seemingly ordinary on the outside.
"Who sent this, and where was it found?" Sang Que asked.
Sang Wan looked a bit guilty, pulling Sang Que to sit down in the living room and helping her take off her bag; Sang Que hadn’t even had time to change clothes since she returned.
"This time it was my fault. I was in a rush to help you find your biological mother and tested Wu Cheng, and it turns out she is indeed from the same clan as you."
Sang Wan slowly began to explain that due to the story relay group and Sang Que’s abilities, the institute wanted to recruit Sang Que, so they sent someone to secretly protect Sang Wan, and that person was Wu Cheng.
On May 20th, Wu Cheng visited. By then, Sang Wan already knew about the Wu Family and was cautious of Wu Cheng, answering her questions flawlessly.
Wu Cheng didn’t stay long and said she had other matters to attend to, leaving a phone number with Sang Wan and telling her to call if needed.
"After Wu Cheng left, I returned to find this letter on the living room coffee table. It wasn’t there when I saw her off. Though the envelope had no markings, I guessed it was for you, so I didn’t dare open it."
Using Ghost Eye, Sang Que looked at the letter and saw an old, withered hand using a pen to write on the stationery, sealing it with glue, handing it to a young woman, and finally, the woman’s hand placing it on the coffee table.
The whole process showed no trace of the person holding the letter, the view fixed on the letter, and no other sounds were heard.
"There’s nothing wrong with the letter itself."
Sang Que opened the letter, seeing only two lines of powerful writing on the paper resembling draft paper.
"Tired feathers wander without thoughts of return, only when disaster comes do you know its difficulty."
Sang Que sneered, "This is a threat to me."
"What do you plan to do next?" Sang Wan asked worriedly.
Sang Wan still felt that it was her fault, thinking that writing Sang Que’s story into a novel had easily exposed Sang Que’s affairs, and the institute had no reaction, possibly merely because they didn’t believe in the existence of the Deceit Dynasty.
After all, there are thousands of web novels, and ones about traversing between two worlds are a dime a dozen. Her book wasn’t particularly popular, and even if some events in the modern section overlapped with Sang Que’s experience, at most, the institute would think she based it on reality.
For a novelist, this wouldn’t be strange at all.
But it was different for the Wu family, who already knew about the Deceit Dynasty’s existence. After Sang Wan probed Wu Cheng, if Wu Cheng casually checked and found the novel, she would confirm that Sang Que was the one they were looking for.
"It’s all my fault!"
"Oh, mom!" Sang Que smiled helplessly. "How can it be your fault? If it weren’t for you writing this novel for me, I couldn’t have survived the hardest times when I needed incense the most. I couldn’t have reached the fourth layer so quickly, and now it’s almost the fifth layer. Didn’t you teach me? Gain and loss always come together in this world, and we need to take things lightly. We’ll handle things as they come, no need to be afraid." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Sang Que thought for a moment and made a decision.
"Mom, invite Wu Cheng to our house. Since the issue has arisen, avoiding it is not a solution. I eventually need to face the Wu Family people; I don’t want to leave any trouble for myself."
Sang Wan hesitated but eventually nodded.
Now, after going through so much in the Deceit Dynasty, Sang Que was no longer the simple girl who relied on her for everything; she had her own ideas and the ability to handle things independently.
"I’m going to change and take a shower."
Sang Que was not worried about meeting Wu Cheng at all, and Sang Wan was comforted by her relaxed attitude, taking out her phone to call Wu Cheng.
The meeting place wasn’t set at home but at the empty stadium in Yu City at 10 PM as Wu Cheng suggested.
In June, the weather was getting hot. Sang Que changed into a thin black tracksuit, left her hair down with a baseball cap, carried the paintings in a specially bought tube on her back, put the Human Bone Dice in her pocket, and left with her phone.
During this time, she gained quite a bit of wealth in the Deceit Dynasty, and she would be heartbroken if she lost any of it, so she never used the Human Bone Dice. Now back in modern times, it would only make her savings disappear, but she could use it.
She kept the rest of her belongings in her paintings, including the shotgun. If needed, it wouldn’t be difficult to take them out.
After leaving, Sang Que glanced at the nearby security cameras, stuck a mole on her face, thinking it might mislead the camera’s facial recognition.
Without confirming her identity, the existence behind the story relay group couldn’t film her to give to the group’s writers for creating horror stories.
Sang Que obediently took a taxi, ignoring the wandering souls roaming around and arrived at the stadium on time.
In the center of the football field, Wu Cheng, with short hair and wearing camo short-sleeve work pants, had already arrived. Beside her was a special device resembling a battery. She stood with one foot on its switch, hands on her hips awaiting.
Sang Que deeply observed the battery-like object, thinking it might be the invention Wu Cheng mentioned, capable of instantly generating a powerful electromagnetic field to tear a ghost’s body apart, based on the principle of killing ghosts with lightning.
"I received your letter." Sang Que said as she approached, stopping three meters away.
Wu Cheng lowered her hand from her waist and re-evaluated Sang Que, "I should have realized, it’s you."
"Let’s cut to the chase, what do you want from me?" Sang Que asked.
Wu Cheng shrugged helplessly, "I’m just following orders. Personally, I bear no ill will towards you. My orders are to persuade you to return."
"Return where?"
"Lishi Mountain, Wu Family."
Sang Que wasn’t good with geography and hadn’t heard of the place. She immediately took out her phone to search for it on navigation.
That’s what’s good about modern times; finding a place is easy.
Soon, Sang Que found Lishi Mountain, located in the south, the origin of Qu Yuan’s culture, and the Nine Songs series of poems was written by Qu Yuan there.
"Alright, when do we leave?"
Sang Que put away her phone and agreed promptly.
Wu Cheng was stunned. She thought she’d have to persuade her with much effort and even prepared to take action.
Though it would likely be her failure, at least she had to make an effort to justify herself to the Wu Family.
"You’re really going?" Wu Cheng asked in surprise.
Sang Que raised an eyebrow, "Weren’t you the one asking me to go back?"
"I ask you and you just go, aren’t you afraid you might not come back?"
Sang Que chuckled, "Aren’t you the kind one?"
Wu Cheng was taken aback, "Alright, alright, I’ll buy the tickets tonight and leave tomorrow."
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll go back first."
Sang Que turned to leave but paused, her body suddenly emanating a murderous aura, making Wu Cheng’s hair stand on end and her body freeze.
Sang Que vanished before her; the cold voice came from behind her, "Remember, my mom is my bottom line. If anything happens to her, I will be a hundred times more ruthless than all the ghosts in this world!"
After speaking, the coldness abruptly disappeared. Wu Cheng relaxed, her footing suddenly slipping, realizing the object she had been stepping on was already thrown a hundred meters away.
Wu Cheng frantically scanned her surroundings, but in the vast football field, Sang Que was nowhere to be seen.
At that instant, a chill rushed from Wu Cheng’s back to the top of her head.
