I Am The Swarm-Chapter 630: A Solution
If the Swarm continues to develop over the years, it might not be impossible to blockade tens of thousands of star systems and eliminate everything within them.
However, Lumina is, after all, a being very similar to Luo Wen in terms of life form. If Lumina could find a way to completely transform the consciousness within the “brain in a vat” into an intelligent virtual life form, then as long as the mechanical devices connected to the network remain intact, these consciousnesses would achieve immortality. This would somewhat level the playing field with the Swarm, as immortal researchers could exert an unimaginable influence.
But in this scenario, the life hierarchy of these consciousnesses would become the same as Lumina’s. If the true god of the virtual world was no longer unique, could Lumina still maintain its dominance? Would it still be able to control these beings with absolute certainty?
Perhaps it could. If all these speculations were true, then Lumina, as a thinking life form with millions of years of experience—ranging from the cycles of the sun and moon, the rise and fall of civilizations, to the intricacies of deceit and human relationships—would not take that step without absolute certainty.
Moreover, sentient beings possess creativity, an innate ability that other life forms can only dream of. As a virtual intelligent life form, Lumina, having gained intelligence and the ability to think, naturally also possesses creativity. With its millions of years of accumulated knowledge, Lumina might very well be the most powerful researcher in the Confederation.
In this case, it might indeed develop something similar to the Swarm’s gene lock, allowing it to perfectly control those “brains in a vat.”
Perhaps what Lumina truly values in Elder Sade’s experiment, hidden behind the Swarm’s gene lock, is the method of controlling bio-weapons over ultra-long distances with strong anti-interference capabilities, as well as the gene lock itself.
After all, even though their paths differ, scientific theories are interconnected. If Lumina could borrow some of the Swarm’s technologies and adapt them to its mechanical path, it might indeed develop something remarkable.
Given more time, with the help of immortal researchers, Lumina might even touch upon dimensions beyond this universe. At that point, it could pose a real threat to Luo Wen.
However, as of now, although Luo Wen finds these speculations increasingly plausible, without absolute evidence, they remain just that—speculations. Luo Wen still needs to gather more information to confirm this theory.
At the same time, Luo Wen must consider how to respond if this turns out to be true.
In fact, he quickly came up with a countermeasure. Just as the Confederation denies the Swarm time to develop, Luo Wen could turn the tables on Lumina.

If he could widely publicize the fact that Lumina has evolved into a sentient life form, he wouldn’t even need the Swarm to take action. Many factions would likely go after Lumina themselves.
While Lumina is powerful, many members of the Ji race and other foreign races are no pushovers. Having feared Lumina for so long, they must have developed some methods to counter it. Even if they couldn’t defeat Lumina, they could still cause enough trouble to buy time.
However, the act of spreading this information itself is highly challenging. The Confederation is a vast entity controlling tens of thousands of star systems. The only way to disseminate information quickly is through the virtual network.
But the virtual network is Lumina’s domain. Lumina is the god of the virtual network. Attempting to spread a conspiracy against a god within its own domain is highly unlikely to succeed.
Other methods are equally unreliable. Relying on starships to spread the message, even if Lumina doesn’t interfere, would take hundreds of years to reach the entire Confederation.
Even if Luo Wen mobilized all his insiders hidden within the Confederation to spread the message, the key to widespread dissemination is the word “wide.” The current influence and reach of the Swarm’s agents fall far short of this goal.
Localized dissemination would only prompt Lumina to cut off the network in that area, halting the spread of the message, and then fabricate a reason to suppress it. If even Elder Sade, a Ji race elder, could become an alternate account of Lumina, who knows how many more such accounts are hidden within the Confederation?
With its agents’ influence, Lumina could easily twist the truth and manipulate events. Luo Wen has considerable experience and authority in this regard, and he believes Lumina would be no less skilled.
Exposing his own agents to spread a message that only achieves localized dissemination would not only fail to harm Lumina but also reveal some of his own cards. Most importantly, it would alert Lumina, making this a foolish move no matter how you look at it.
Yet, there doesn’t seem to be a better alternative. Simply spreading the truth, but lacking control over the information channels, has turned what should have been a straightforward task into an insurmountable challenge.
Luo Wen hadn’t expected that the simplest and most effective method would become so difficult. For now, he hasn’t found a solution. Since this path is blocked, he’ll have to consider other approaches.
Meanwhile, the experiment in the castle continues uninterrupted by Luo Wen’s musings. The fusion tendrils of the biological armor are still moving through the narrow channel surrounded by nanobots.
However, with his suspicions growing, Luo Wen secretly directed the fusion tendrils to slightly alter their path. While they appeared to be aimlessly searching and expanding their fusion range as before, they now circled around the nanobots arranged in peculiar formations, unable to move.
If, as Luo Wen speculated, these nanobots formed the spine of the test subject, then following them would lead to the neck and head, allowing him to gather evidence to confirm his earlier hypothesis.
Yet, the fusion tendrils’ behavior did not go unnoticed. Mechanical units excel at detecting subtle changes. Even the slightest alteration, which might seem insignificant to a sentient being, would stand out glaringly to an artificial intelligence.
However, they couldn’t imagine that behind the biological armor lurked an equally cunning schemer. Thus, they hadn’t yet considered the possibility of a conspiracy.
From their perspective, the worst-case scenario was stagnation. Now that the fusion tendrils were showing changes, this was a very good sign.
