I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 636: No More Goodbyes
"I know!" Kris Cooper wrapped his arms around her and gently patted her back comfortingly. "Today is our special day, don’t let insignificant people and things affect your mood."
"Oh my God, Vera, I finally found you!" From a distance, Isla Hawskin’s voice came through, "Grandma Wave is looking for you!"
Vera Wave straightened up in Kris Cooper’s embrace.
"Okay, let’s head over now!"
The two of them returned to the hall with Isla, and not far away, Nathan Leafcastle’s gaze fell on Vera near Kris Cooper, a look of confusion flashing in his eyes.
From the way Kris Cooper looked earlier, did something happen to Vera?
"What are you looking at?" Sally Dalton curiously inquired from the side.
Nathan Leafcastle immediately withdrew his gaze, "Nothing!"
On the other side, Kris Cooper had already returned to Grandma Wave with Vera. Grandma Wave immediately grabbed her hand upon seeing Vera.
"You scared me to death. I thought you got lost again!"
"No, I just went to the restroom." Vera waved her lips into a comforting smile.
Seeing the two approaching, Kate Palmer, Sam Davis, and other colleagues also came over to congratulate them.
Kris Cooper accepted a glass of wine, clinked glasses with a few people, and then raised his gaze to find Liliana Davis who walked to Nathan Leafcastle’s side, talking to her son. A cold shade crossed his amber eyes.
Not far away.
Liliana Davis gently tugged on Nathan Leafcastle’s arm, "It’s getting late, don’t you have work tomorrow? Let’s head back early, I see Sally is a bit tired."
Nathan Leafcastle, who was chatting with a real estate developer, turned his face, looked at Sally Dalton not far away, and glanced at his watch. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Okay, I’ll go say goodbye to Vera."
"There’s no need!" Liliana Davis grabbed his wrist, "There are so many guests, how can she manage to greet them all?"
Nathan Leafcastle frowned and stared at his mother, "I’m just saying goodbye."
Hearing the insistence in his tone, Liliana Davis finally released his hand, and Nathan Leafcastle walked through the hall to Vera and the others.
Seeing this, Liliana Davis immediately brought Sally Dalton over.
"Vera, it’s getting late, we’ll head out now."
"Alright, I..." Vera originally wanted to say "I’ll see you off," but when her gaze met Liliana Davis’s, she swallowed the next words, "I still have guests here, so I won’t see you off."
Nathan Leafcastle gazed at Vera in front of him, his heart full of reluctance.
He had promised his mother that after this, he would keep his distance from her. After this farewell, they probably wouldn’t have many chances to meet again.
Thinking of this, his heart ached.
"Well... we’re leaving then."
Vera pressed her lips together.
"Take care."
She didn’t say goodbye either. After this, there probably wouldn’t be any more goodbyes.
"I’ll see them off!"
The one speaking was Kris Cooper.
Raising his hand, he gently patted Vera’s arm and gave her a soft smile, "You greet your colleagues, I’ll see Mr. Leafcastle off."
"Kris?!"
Vera looked at him with some concern, but he just smiled at her.
"I’ll be back soon! Director Lin, Isla... please take care of Vera. Everyone, please!"
He walked briskly towards the exit, escorting Nathan Leafcastle and the others to the door.
When they reached the elevator, Kris Cooper stopped.
"Minister Davis, please stay."
His wife had kindly invited them to the banquet, yet this woman ruined her mood. Given Kris Cooper’s character, how could he tolerate it?
