I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 647: Lip Kiss (5)
"Hmph!" Kris Cooper said, a smirk playing on his lips. "Is that so?"
Liliana Davis’s face fell. "It seems Mr. Cooper doesn’t trust me. If that’s the case, then anything more I say would be pointless."
A staff member, noticing the tense atmosphere between the two, quickly stood up to smooth things over. "Today’s discussion was intended for everyone to freely share their views. I’m sure we all have various ideas for our city’s future development, which we can explore further in our next session. We won’t take up any more of your valuable time today. That concludes our meeting. Thank you all for making time in your busy schedules to be here!" And with that, the meeting concluded.
The staff member then turned to Nathan Leafcastle. "Mr. Leafcastle, there’s an approval document for the Barker Group that requires your signature."
Nathan Leafcastle left with the staff member, and the others rose and began to leave the conference room.
As Liliana Davis bid farewell to an acquaintance and was about to leave, Kris Cooper stepped forward, blocking her way.
"Mr. Cooper... what is the meaning of this?" Liliana asked, looking at him cautiously.
"I have one more question for you, Minister Davis." Kris Cooper slipped his hands into the pockets of his suit. "Tell me, Minister, what are your thoughts on Walter Wave Real Estate going bankrupt because of the Kashima Project?"
Liliana Davis paused, then replied succinctly, "A pity."
"’A pity?’" Kris Cooper tilted his chin up slightly. "Just those two words?"
Scrutinizing the aggressive young man before her, Liliana Davis’s eyes slowly narrowed. "If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave!"
With that, she stepped forward, intending to walk around Kris Cooper.
Turning slightly, Kris Cooper once again blocked her path.
"Minister Davis seems to be in quite a rush. Could it be a guilty conscience?"
"Mr. Cooper!" Liliana’s tone turned icy. "I have always treated you with respect because I hold Ashton Real Estate in high regard. I hope you won’t tarnish my good impression of Ashton."
"What a shame!" Kris Cooper looked down at her. "I’m not interested in that in the slightest. What I really want to know is your true stance on Walter’s demise!"
Liliana’s expression changed.
The door opened, and Nathan Leafcastle walked in. Seeing the situation, he raised an eyebrow in confusion. "What’s going on here?"
Seizing the opportunity, Liliana squeezed past Kris Cooper and hurried to her son’s side. "Let’s go!"
Taking Nathan’s arm, Liliana turned and led him out of the conference room. Just before she stepped out, she glanced back at Kris Cooper. He was still focused on her, his gaze as sharp as a sword, sending an involuntary chill down her spine.
"What exactly happened back there?" Nathan Leafcastle asked, puzzled, as he led his mother downstairs.
"Nothing," Liliana replied, unwilling to discuss the incident with him.
"How can it be nothing? I distinctly heard you two talking, and your expression made it obvious something happened." Nathan Leafcastle gently took his mother’s arm. "Kris Cooper was just mentioning the Kashima Project, the one Uncle Walter was involved in. Are you... hiding something from me?"
Liliana Davis pushed his arm away. "No."
"Then what were you and Kris Cooper talking about?" Nathan persisted.
