I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 672: It Must Be a Coincidence (3)
The man’s gaze was gentle, much like how her father looked at her years ago, filled with affectionate love.
"Vera?"
Bailey Hansen turned to her while standing on the stairs and called out to her. Vera quickly gathered her thoughts and hurried after her.
Lucille Matthias had already called ahead, and they smoothly managed to see Kris Cooper in the reception room.
When the man walked in, his face was all smiles. His white shirt was spotless, his trousers and shoes freshly changed. He did not look like he belonged in a detention center at all; rather, he looked exactly like his usual self.
Despite this, Vera Wave’s nose still tingled when she saw him.
"Kris!"
Hugging her in his arms, Kris Cooper lightly patted her back, smiling as he whispered in her ear, "Cheer up, it’s not a big deal... Be honest, did you sleep well last night?"
"Yes," she replied, gently nodding in his arms.
"Such a good girl!" The man laughed and kissed her hair, then patted her back. "Let’s sit down and talk!"
"Mr. Cooper, we only have twenty minutes, please watch the time."
The staff member politely reminded him and then left, not sticking around to watch as they did with others.
Helping Vera to a seat at the table, Kris Cooper immediately opened the box she had brought. Seeing the cake inside, he turned and smiled at her.
"You’re the best, darling, knowing I can’t stand the terrible food here."
"Then hurry and eat," Vera said, handing him a wet wipe. "Wipe your hands."
Taking the wet wipe, Kris Cooper cleaned his fingers before picking up a fork and taking a bite of the cake.
Christoper Cooper and Bailey Hansen sat opposite them, watching their son, both sighing inwardly.
Both of them knew Kris Cooper was only putting on an act for Vera, to keep her from worrying.
As Kris ate, Christoper Cooper began to speak in a low voice.
"Your aunt Lucille has already contacted a lawyer for you; she’ll be here soon. You should have a good talk with the lawyer then."
"Don’t worry, it’s no big deal," Kris continued nonchalantly eating his cake. He then took a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Vera. "Give this to Tommy Taylor. It outlines how to handle several important documents."
As he was speaking, the door was pushed open. Lucille Matthias walked in, followed by two people.
The one in the lead was about Lucille’s age, tall and slender. Her long hair was neatly tied back, and she wore a smart, dark suit, her every gesture exuding intelligence and astuteness. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Everyone immediately rose.
"Well now, Kris, still managing to enjoy blueberry mousse in here? I bet our Vera brought it!" Lucille teased, then smiled. "Let me make the introductions."
"No need for introductions. Attorney Sophia Thompson, how could I not know you?" Bailey Hansen stepped forward, extending her hand. "Long time no see, Attorney Thompson."
"It’s an honor," Christoper Cooper also cordially extended his hand.
"The honor is all mine," Sophia Thompson said, reaching out to shake his hand. "I’ve only seen Mr. Cooper in magazines before; it’s wonderful to finally meet you in person."
Afterward, Sophia Thompson also shook hands with Kris Cooper and Vera Wave. After some brief pleasantries, she quickly got to the point.
"Lucille gave me the files yesterday, and I’ve familiarized myself with the situation. To my knowledge, the other party is already preparing to file a lawsuit. A court trial for this case is practically unavoidable!"
