I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 202: Shocked
Chapter 202: Shocked
A look of frustration graced the man’s features before it disappeared, he stretched out his hand, "My name is Dalek Galli." He passed a black card to Ravi.
This was all so bothersome, Ravi thought as he accepted the car from the man. Delek Galli. CFO, Galli Foundation.
Ravi had never heard of the company but the way the man was looking at him, he felt as if he also needed to say something, "Good job!"
There was a brief silence and the man stood up and left, not without muttering, "They just let anyone in these days."
Ah! He seems to have said the wrong thing, not like he was overly concerned, it was not the first time.
Ravi raised the delicate teacup to take a sip of the mint tea before raising back his face mask and leaning his head on the seat. In his hand was a device that looked like a radio transmitter.
Even though Ravi’s eyes were close, he could still clearly feel what was going on in the hall but his attention was fixed on Asher. The moment Asher entered the health scanning device, Ravi pressed the radio transmitter before he began to turn the knob. He stopped after two turns, his expression calm and relaxed.
But not everyone was that calm.
The slight glitching of the computer network raised a flag in the security and the youth sitting in front of the computer frowned, his fingers flying across the keyboard in front of him but he could not find what went wrong. He rubbed his brows as he looked at the profile of the health scan in front of him.
[Asher West. Age: 13. Ability: Level 4 Animal Transformation Health Scan: 96%]
That was quite high but in Bayside where some parents had a standby healer for their children, it was nothing too crazy. Level 4 was higher than average but Bayside had once recorded a level 5 1 year old student so it was not out of place either. After cross checking, he did not pay any attention to the profile and decided to do a hardware scan one more time.
Asher passed the health screening and walked into the Theory room for his first Theory Paper.
Ravi sighed. What was he doing to do while waiting? Should he play a game, Arlen was at work so he could not chat with his boyfriend. Malik was at work either. If he leaves, it would not be the best idea as Asher could come in at any time.
Many of the parents had formed a group and were sitting around each other, talking and laughing. Some of them seemed to know each other even before this examination.
Ravi knew as a responsible guardian, he should stand up and socialize but he could not bring himself to. He was not the most social person in the world. Sitting on his table alone, Ravi felt that it was indeed a miracle that he had the kind of relationship that he had with his neighbors.
His vacation on this planet had been one sweet miracle after another.
He put his hand in his pocket and took out a small notepad and a pencil. Bending his head, he began to sketch quietly. Lines after lines, the image of a disgruntled Asher soon came to life on the paper.
"Wow. That is really good. You are quite talented. Are you an artist?" A voice sounded behind him. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Ravi froze, he had not felt this woman approach him. His fingers clenched and he turned back, recognizing her. She was the woman in a black suit who had followed behind the young child in a yellow dress.
"Don’t look so nervous. My ability is Adaptive Camouflage. It is normal that you did not notice me."
Was his face that expressive? It was not a good day. Besides, why did this woman approach him? Why were people approaching him today, he had even wore a face cap so his face would be partially covered.
"May I?" She gestured to the seat next to him.
"If I should say no, would you leave?"
The woman chuckled, "No. The little miss ordered me to get close to you. I have been waiting for you to integrate so I can make a move but you seemed to be content to just sit here. I would introduce myself first, My name is Mansy Royce, I am a nanny."
Ravi looked at her from head to toe, he could tell that everything that she was wearing was expensive, which meant that the family she was a nanny for, paid extremely well. How well, Ravi wanted to ask but then being a nanny was not some laid back sweet job and there was no Arlen there.
"Ravi West. Police officer."
"Oh!" There was a slight disbelief in her voice, "Are you some kind of young master playing in the law enforcement agency?" The woman asked but there was a lightness in her voice that made it difficult for one to take offense.
"What kind of rich person would..." He cut his sentence off, his boyfriend was different. Arlen was even more dedicated to the police job than him. He closed the pad he was drawing on and looked at the woman, "Is it that rare for a police officer’s child to attend this school?" Yes, the school fees for a semester for just tuition was 20,000 dollars which was almost Ravi’s salary for a year but, thinking now, it actually made a lot of sense that an ordinary police officer would not send their child to this school.
The woman looked at him, "No, not really. The first student gets an automatic scholarship so a lot of people always try to get in. The second and third position overall would get a tuition free scholarship, it is worth a try. Is that what you are also going for?" The woman did not hide her desire to pry.
Ravi hummed, "But why? There are other private schools in Alstria. What makes Bayside so different?" When he and Malik were pouring over schools, they had narrowed it down to proximity, Bayside was close to home. Of course, they knew that Bayside was a good school but it was after browsing and all the tributes did not seem to be attributed to this branch but the main school in the Capital.
The woman’s expression was calm, controlled and even her laughter seemed like it was carefully calculated but at this moment she could not help the immense shock that flashed in her face.
