I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 207: The dream
Chapter 207: The dream
Ravi did not enter the car after everyone did. Cold hazel eyes looked around but he could not feel that aboriginal energy that he had just felt. It was not the traces left by the creatures that passed through the Nest, it was not the cosmic energy purified by the Earth’s atmosphere that every human carried and it was different from the pure energy that souls like Malik carried.
Had he imagined it? It was not possible for him to make such a mistake.
For the first time in a very long time, Ravi pulled up the Mission panel of the Sentinel Realm. It was clear he had not been assigned any other mission since Luxor, an unspoken arrangement between him and the Council at the Sentinel Realm. Using the search button, Ravi looked for missions on Earth, Star 1097. Nothing came up. He frowned.
What was it that Alya had said? That no immortal could come down here, she had to use an incarnation to come down to speak to him when she did. That energy had not been an incarnation as well, his brows furrowed.
Alya had requested he protect Malik and he had agreed. Now, even without Alya’s request, Ravi would protect his friend. But what kind of immortal would have the guts to offend King Yama? freewёbnoνel.com
"Ravi!" Asher called out and Ravi rubbed his brows. The possibility that he was overthinking things was very high. What kind of tribulation was Malik under on Earth and what does that have to do with Anouk? Should he intervene?
No, No, No. He might have a relationship with Malik but the moment his mind went to the person who had so coldly supervised the Netherworld Emperor’s punishment, his body shivered against his will. Best, not to intervene.
"Ravi." Asher seemed worried.
"Sorry. I was just thinking about something." He entered the car and drove off. The car had not even gone 4 miles when it started raining.
When they reached Harlem, it was already late in the evening. Malik was wearing brown lounging clothes, holding a black umbrella while waiting for them in the rain.
"Malik." Ravi sighed, there was a strange feeling in his chest. Helplessness. He had not felt like this for a while. Immortals played on a different level than him, and he now was too weak to help Malik.
Ravi suddenly had the desire to grow even stronger.
He pulled the car up to the side of his compound as Malik walked towards them with an umbrella.
He transformed stones into umbrellas and before he could even hand one to his word, the child had already unbuckled his seat belt, opened the door and rushed out.
"Malik. I was the first-ranked student. I got a scholarship."
Ravi was speechless, wasn’t he the one that was sulking just now, why was he suddenly so proud?
Malik smiled, his gentle voice was loud and clear, "Good Job, Asher." He gave him the umbrella, "Go inside."
"Malik."
"Sage. How was the ride?"
"Sick! I swiped your card, did you see the debit? I wanted to get some wires for my train." Sage took the umbrella from Ravi and came down from the car, hurriedly heading inside Ravi’s compound.
Lana sighed and took one of the umbrellas, opened it and handed it over, "If you get sick, I am not taking care of you." She said before heading.
Ravi came down from the car, He passed Malik a bag with a flask.
’What is it?"
"We had a hotpot for lunch."
"How nice of you?"
The rain fell heavily on the umbrella, Ravi looked at Malik, "35 dollars. Don’t forget to transfer before the end of the week."
Malik laughed but Ravi had a feeling that something was wrong, "Why were you waiting outside? Did you miss us that much?"
Malik turned back to look at the empty alley, "I was not waiting for four of you."
"Then who?"
"It is cold. Let’s go inside."
"You are changing the subject." He looked at Malik and sighed.
Malik turned empty green eyes in his direction, "Just now, did you feel pity for me?"
Ravi rolled his eyes, "You are standing in the middle of the street when it is raining, looking so mournfully in the street like an abandoned cat. If I don’t feel pity for you, who would I feel pity for?"
The surrounding area became quiet in an instant, with only the sound of the raindrops splashing on the umbrella.
"Abandoned cat? Me?"
"Yes."
Malik was still in disbelief, "Me?"
"Malik, good night. I am not going to stand in the street and argue with you."
Malik chuckled, "It turns out that I can have such an expression one day. Alright, go in, I will stay here and wait." Malik actually stopped moving and sat on the pavement.
He is insane. So mentally unstable. To be honest, leaving his mental issues to someone unwell might not be the best decision for him to make. He suddenly regretted saying abandoned cat.
He signed and sat on the pavement with him, "Okay. You did not look like an abandoned cat."
"Oh! Then what did I look like?"
An abandoned dog, "Like a beautiful fairy waiting for his family."
Malik chuckled and Ravi’s lips could not help but twitch.
"I was sleeping but I had a dream, maybe it was a nightmare."
Ravi swallowed, "A dream." In the world that he is from, dreams are not to be taken lightly.
"En. It is a strange dream. The dream was not about me." Malik furrowed his brow, he had always been a clinical cold and calm person at heart but now, he felt so unsettled that it was difficult to breathe, "The person in the dream was a little like me." He was also so cold with a perfect gentle mask on his face, "The dream was not about the person who looked a little like me either."
"So who was the dream about?"
Malik frowned, the dream was so fantastical it was crazy while he was so fixated on it, "A stupid boulder named Alvar. Ravi, I have never seen someone as foolish as him in my life and I have seen foolish people." Maybe he was a little foolish, the person that looked like him in the dream played a game with a foolish boulder and yet. Malik clenched his fist when he recalled the pain when the pale commander had presented him with a single ribbon. It was the only thing left of the fool.
Maybe he was a little foolish, otherwise, why would he stumble out here as if drunk, waiting for someone that was not even real?
Malik took a deep breath and forcefully regulated his emotions, "I think I am just a little hungry."
