Chapter 226: Having lunch

They asked her more questions until they collected enough information from her. Arlen stood up and looked at her, "Miss Agatha, this involves a criminal case, please don’t leave Alstria for now. If we need your cooperation, we will contact you again."

They drove back in what should have been a nice quiet if not for the rumbling of someone’s stomach. The person acted as if he did not hear his stomach and continued driving when it rumbled again.

And again.

Ravi turned to the side but did not bother to hide his laughter. Draco’s ears turned bright red and he turned to glare at him.

"Watch the road." Arlen scolded, while smiling, "You can clear when we see another restaurant. It is almost 4 p.m. so it is quite understandable."

Draco turned to stare at Ravi for a second and even though no word left his lips, his eyes stated clearly the words in his mind. Have you seen the Captain, this is how a normal person is meant to behave. Try your best to be more like them.

Ravi’s lips twitched and he picked up his phone to text Arlen.

Arlen’s phone beeped and he removed his eyes from the laptop to pick it up. Reading the text, he laughed aloud and rolled his eyes.

Draco, who was driving, turned again to see Ravi smiling and then he looked in the mirror. The Captain was smiling also. Was it so funny that he was hungry? The last time he had eaten was in the morning and he had just a small bowl of cereal with juice, not even milk.

It was completely normal for him to be hungry. However, even though he rationalized it in his mind, he was still pretty embarrassed about the situation.

Unknown to him, his beloved captain and his hated colleague were busy chatting all through the ride. From Ravi reminding Arlen of when he had also done that to chatting about Asher.

"Three friends. That is impressive."

Ravi had gotten more handy with emojis and stickers and he sent a proud eagle flying around, "He is my ward. What do you expect?"

"Love, exactly how many friends have you made in Davenport? And you cannot count Professor Malik."

Typing...Typing....

Arlen leaned back and burst out laughing.

Ten minutes later, Draco stood in front of a restaurant and all but jumped out of the car.

Arlen stepped out and looked at Ravi, before smiling and saying politely, "Following up on my previous message. Please confirm the receipt and let me know your thoughts."

He was just so lucky that Draco was here, he would have gone over and given this smiling lover of his, a very hard pinch. Besides, he was not friendless, there was Lisa, kind of, and Lana, he did not know five things about her except that she loved food, loved studying, and was a villain, oh she grew up a genius and disowned her parents. Well, that is five; it should count, right?

There was Sage. No, calling a seventeen-year-old child a friend was borderline pathetic. So two.

"Captain?" Draco called as he gestured for him to sit down.

"You can relax, Officer Brown. Just order and eat so we could be on our way. The Toxicology report is out."

Draco sat down opposite Ravi and Arlen sat next to Ravi.

The waiter rushed over to give them the menu. Unlike the high-end place that they had visited earlier, this restaurant was more in line with the ones in Davenport, it had a more traditional feel to it with the wooden beams and paintings.

The waiter gave the menu and stood by their side, enticing sweetly, "Since there are three people. I would recommend that you go with our special set meal. It is just right for three people and it is currently discounted. You would get a full set meal for three for 56 dollars and if you add dessert, it would be 60 dollars. We would even throw in three coupons."

"Discount?" Draco’s eyes suddenly light up, "What kind of discount coupons?"

"If you come during the National Holidays, you will get a 5% discount for all your meals."

"This is called being deceived with your eyes wide open," Arlen whispered in Ravi’s ears and Ravi’s lips twitched.

If Ravi had been alone, Draco could have bitten him for gossiping about him but considering he was gossiping with the Captain that he was hoping to take him out of this town, he endured it.

His helpless endurance made Arlen a little bad and when the meal came, he took the initiative to push the crisp pork ribs to Draco who gleamed immediately.

Ravi smiled and pushed the seasoned cucumber plate to Arlen; who reached for the dish, picked a piece of cucumber with his chopsticks, and brought it to his mouth. It was a bit spicy, refreshing, and crunchy.

He did not particularly like vegetables but he had to admit when vegetables were prepared well, they sometimes outperformed staple dishes.

He placed one of the cucumbers and a piece of stir-fried pork on the spoon of rice and put it in his mouth immediately. His eyes widened, the rice was soft, sweet, and practically melted in his mouth, the pork was crispy and tender, and the cucumber was firm and spicy. The three of them brought a satisfied look on his face.

"You have to try it like this." He turned to face Ravi, eager to show him the combination that worked the best out of the trays on the table.

Ravi tried it, he looked at shining blue eyes next to him and he could only nod, "Not bad."

"Right. How about like this?" He took a small bowl, added the savory broth, then a spoonful of the paste stew, and then some soy dreads with the seasoned vegetables before adding some seaweed and then a huge spoonful of rice to the mix.

Ravi obediently tried it after him, although he hesitated when it was time to add some of the seaweed soup. It was...

"Not bad."

The two of them ate happily when Draco’s eyes twitched. There was just something wrong with this scene to him.
