Chapter 552: Chapter 552 Dangerous

He considered for a moment, his gaze drifting briefly toward the window where moonlight spilled across the floor.

"The stars," he said simply.

She blinked.

"The stars?"

"There is a place I know. High in the mountains. The sky there is so clear you can see colors you did not know existed. Constellations that never appear anywhere else."

His voice softened as he spoke, painting the picture for her.

"Silence. Darkness. Just the sky and us."

Alina tried to imagine it. Standing with him under a canopy of impossible stars, wrapped in warmth while the night stretched endlessly around them.

"That sounds..." She trailed off.

"Romantic?" he offered.

"Perfect."

His eyes warmed.

"Then it is decided."

She laughed softly, the sound bright in the quiet room.

"You had that planned all along."

"I had many options. That one seemed most likely to make you smile."

She shook her head slowly.

"You are impossible."

"You have mentioned that before."

"It remains true."

He leaned just a fraction closer, his forehead nearly touching hers.

"So. Second date. The stars. Tomorrow night."

"After you survive teaching kindergarten?"

He winced slightly, just barely.

"...Yes. After that."

She laughed again, and the sound made something in his chest loosen.

"Deal."

For a moment they simply stayed like that, foreheads almost touching, his hand still gentle against her face.

Then he whispered, "I have waited a long time for someone worth taking to see the stars."

Her heart clenched.

"You have been alive a long time."

"Yes."

"That is a lot of waiting."

"You were worth it."

The words were simple, quiet, and honest. Alina reached up and placed her hand over his, pressing it more firmly against her cheek.

"You are very smooth for someone who claims not to understand human romance."

He smiled.

"I learn fast."

The next morning arrived far too quickly.

Sunlight spilled through the tall windows of the castle bedroom, soft and golden, stretching across the polished floor like warm ribbons. Birds chirped somewhere outside, oblivious to the chaos that was about to unfold in the kindergarten classroom.

Alina had woken up early out of habit, even though Dante had practically forced her to take the day off. Her body simply refused to sleep in. She had still prepared breakfast for the boys and helped them get ready, brushing Sable’s hair and making sure Lucien’s collar was straight, before coming back to the room to collect a few things she had forgotten.

She pushed the door open casually, humming softly.

Then froze.

Her eyes widened slowly, taking in the scene before her.

Standing near the large mirror by the wardrobe was Dante.

But not the Dante she was used to seeing.

This Dante was wearing a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled neatly to his forearms, revealing the lean strength of his arms. Black trousers fit sharply along his long legs, giving him an almost painfully neat appearance, like he had stepped out of a magazine spread about "casual elegance for dark lords."

His dark hair was tied loosely at the back, a few strands falling naturally along his temples in a way that looked effortless but was probably intentional.

And on his nose—

Glasses.

Thin framed glasses that caught the morning light and made him look devastatingly intelligent.

In one hand he held a book.

Not just any book.

Her book.

The small worn notebook where she usually wrote classroom notes, lesson plans, and reminders.

For several seconds Alina simply stared at him, her mouth slightly open.

"Dee..." she said slowly, her voice carrying a tone of disbelief.

Dante looked up from the notebook, his dark eyes meeting hers over the rim of the glasses.

"Yes?"

"Why do you look like that?"

He tilted his head slightly, genuinely confused.

"Like what?"

"Like a very handsome university professor who is about to grade someone’s thesis and make them feel inadequate about their life choices," she replied honestly.

Dante considered this for a moment, his expression thoughtful.

"That is acceptable," he decided.

Her eyes moved back to the glasses, lingering.

"Dee?" she asked again.

"Yes?"

"Do you really need glasses?"

Her voice carried pure disbelief. Dante was a shadow lord. He had perfect vision. He could probably see in complete darkness.

Dante adjusted the glasses slightly on the bridge of his nose and smirked faintly, clearly enjoying her reaction.

"Of course."

Alina blinked.

"...Of course?"

"Yes."

He turned a page in the notebook calmly, as if this were perfectly normal.

"You may think I am wearing them only for atmosphere," he continued casually. "Perhaps because you showed me some human photos online where male teachers wear glasses and look more intelligent. Perhaps because you mentioned once that glasses were ’distinguished.’"

Alina folded her arms slowly, her eyes narrowing.

"...Did I?"

Dante did not answer that part directly.

"These are not ordinary glasses," he said instead, deflecting smoothly.

Her eyebrows lifted.

"Oh?"

"Yes."

He tapped the side of the frame lightly with one finger.

"These glasses allow me to see magical fluctuations more clearly. They enhance perception of supernatural energy. Very useful."

Alina stared at him, trying to decide if he was serious.

"So they are magical glasses?"

"Yes."

"So you did not choose them because teachers look cool wearing glasses?"

"No."

"...You absolutely did."

Dante pretended to look offended, though the smirk gave him away.

"You underestimate my seriousness. I am a professional. I would never choose eyewear based on aesthetics."

She walked closer, squinting at the glasses suspiciously.

"Let me see."

He leaned slightly closer to her, holding perfectly still.

She reached up and gently pushed the frame up his nose, adjusting them slightly. Her fingers brushed against his temple, warm and soft.

Then she leaned back to examine the full effect.

"You look dangerous," she said.

"I am dangerous."

"No, I mean... dangerously handsome."

Dante paused.

Then a faint smile appeared, genuine and warm. He looked happy because of her compliment. Perhaps he should wear glasses more often.

Alina shook her head slowly.

"But Dee, you are going to terrify my students."

"I will inspire discipline and respect."

"You will make Boo faint from shock."

"That seems unlikely. Boo is made of spirit energy. He cannot faint."

"He will find a way."
