I Became A Side Character Fated To Suffer-Chapter 18:Taking Down The Orc
Then I was led to the next room.
A staff member put two bracelets on my wrists.
The mana flowing in my body suddenly stopped circulating. Without saying anything, I stepped ahead and was greeted by an entirely white room.
At the side, there was a woman taking notes, and behind her was a weapon stand with all types of weapons.
"Cadet, please come here and choose your weapon. In this test, you will be fighting against an Orc, and defeating it will determine your rank."
"However, in this fight your mana will be locked, and you have to rely solely on your physical prowess."the woman explained while looking at me as if she was looking at some gutter rat.
Her name was Briana.
And she was quite annoying.
"What about mages?"
"Mages would have a different exam. You don’t need to concern yourself with that."
"Tsk.." I clicked my tongue and asked her to continue.
Following the revelation came a lengthy explanation.
Like why were they testing by blocking the mana flow?
The test was done to analyze a person’s combat mastery, awareness, and how he tackles the problem. Without the use of mana, everyone would be at square one with no advantage of talent.
As for rank determination, the time to defeat a monster along with the way you do it will be judged.
"If one had reached a high stage with the use of elixirs and medicine while not having any experience in fighting, it would be their dead end."
For some reason, I felt that woman was targeting me, as if saying that for someone who might use elixirs and all medicines, it was a fucked-up matchup.
Ignoring her, I walked towards the weapon stand where I pulled a crossbow, two short daggers, and a sword, startling her.
"Wait... What the hell are you doing?"
Pausing, I shifted my attention to her and asked, "Is there a rule where it’s said that one can’t use multiple weapons at once?"
Briana’s lips shut instantly, and she tried to come up with something. "There isn’t, but..."
"Then it’s decided... Bring me the game.."
I stepped forward, arranging the weapons in a suitable place.
Sighing helplessly, Briana could only proceed.
"Summon the Orc!"
SWOOSH!
A magic circle in the middle lit up, and a fierce Orc holding a giant club appeared out of thin air.
Looking around, he spotted a frail, puny human and screamed.
"KHUMMMMMM!"
The entire place resonated.
I could already see the scene of many pissing themselves, so before starting, I asked, "Has anyone passed this round?"
"Out of 28, only 9 have managed to defeat the Orc," Briana answered with a smug look, trying to deter me, but contrary to her expectations—
"Good!"
"Yo, Orcy... I apologize for your pain," shouting at the top of my lungs, I stomped my foot and rocketed toward the Orc with swift speed.
The Orc, emitting a fierce roar, bucked up its right shoulder and then swung the huge wooden club at me, trying to smash me.
Sadly for him, speeding ahead, I bent forward and then jumped, sliding onto the floor softly to escape under the blunt heavy end of the club.
Gliding across the floor, I went past the Orc. In the process, I drew up the dagger and slashed back with my left arm, cutting a gash at the Achilles tendon of the Orc, which was a weak spot of Orcs.
For being as bulky as them, a huge weight is supported by those heels, so the cut made it falter.
I immediately jerked my knees like springs and leapt up with a bang.
My body shot up at the Orc’s back and then I thrust my sword at the Orc, digging right into its back.
The sword dug straight into the flesh, almost reaching the spine and sending a spasmic wave of pain, making the Orc lose its composure.
Swaying its hand, the Orc tried to reach back to get a hold of the pest, but by that time, using the back as support and grabbing the chunky part of the shoulder blade, I jumped.
Placing my legs on the bulky shoulder, I dragged the crossbow and stuck it on the back of the Orc’s head.
The arrow kissed the back of the Orc’s head, sending a cold shiver. Before he could do anything, I unloaded the crossbow with a dagger
CRUNG! CRACKLE!
With a jolt, the sharp edge of the dagger was lodged straight into the Orc’s skull and pierced it immediately.
Knowing this wasn’t enough to end it, I took out a dagger and, giving it a cool spin, I pierced the skull brutally.
"KHUMMMM!"
"KIEEEKKK!" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The Orc went on a rampage, running around while wobbling its bulky hands to catch me, but I veered to avoid it. Then I went back and, using all my strength, pierced it again, creating a crack in the skull.
Feeling that it was enough, dodging the bulky hands, I jumped back.
The Orc, running wild, reached the end of the wall, smashing its face with a loud bang and then bounced back to fall on the ground with a sickening thud.
And in doing so, the sword stuck at the back snapped and dug further, piercing through the spine.
Landing on the ground, I clapped and looked at Briana.
