I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 42: Gold Grade Beast
The sun was high in the sky. The winds rustled, refreshing the surroundings, yet at this moment, temperature still continued to rise to the extreme.
The lively Wind Horses from before stood still like a statue. The humans inside the carriages were motionless like a rock. Bids of sweat trickled down their face and back, not only because of the rising temperature, but also because of the trepidation that they felt.
Nobody moved a single muscle as the humongous head of a gigantic lizard emerged on their vision.
The lizard was extremely huge. Its head alone was already bigger than the entire carriage that they were using. Blazing fire could be seen below its neck, acting as its beard. Its entire spine spewed out sharp spikes made of fire all the way to its swaying tail, adding to its intimidating appearance.
As the humongous lizard went past by the carriage, its gigantic head turned towards Miguel and the others. Their eyes met for a split second before the lizard continued to walk forward, ignoring them completely.
It walked past them leisurely, even though its body was full of fires, strangely enough, its surroundings were not burned and only a rise in temperature was absorbed.
When the lizard disappeared from their peripheral vision, no one still dared to move.
It was only five minutes later that everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief, including the Wind Horses and even Miguel.
"Gold King Beast!" Randy’s shivering voice echoed inside the carriage.
Gasper and the two boys gasped in shock as they wiped the sweats rolling down their face.
Hearing his words, Miguel also nodded his head internally in agreement.
Unlike Normal, Bronze and Silver Grade Beasts, Gold Grade Beasts emit a stifling pressure that can immobilize those at the lower grade than it. Only when one has trained their will to the max, has a good mental fortitude, and those who were levels above in strength would they be able to ignore these kinds of pressures released by Gold Grade Beasts.
Some call this stifling pressure as ’King’s Aura’ while others call it ’King’s Dignity’.
Their nickname being Gold King Beast was not without basis. Even Aaliyah has her own King’s Aura as well.
Even normal humans would be able to tell apart a Gold Grade Beast and not at the first glance. Of course, unless the Gold Grade Beast decides to hide their aura willingly.
"A humongous red lizard with a beard and spiky spines made of fire... If I’m not wrong, that should be the Wingless Land Fire Dragon. What is it doing in a place like this?" Randy’s confusion echoed as he jumped off the driver seat and turned to look at where the Gold King Beast was going.
The shivers on his spine had still not subsided even until now. After all, the horrors he felt earlier were a thousand times more stifling than the most dangerous missions he completed before. He did not feel that he was about to die, he straight up felt that he was just an inch away from death.
Miguel and the others disembarked the carriage as well as Erika and the other coachmen.
They shared Randy’s confusion at how a Gold Grade Beast could appear in such a place.
After all, Gold Grade Beasts were very territorial and they usually didn’t leave their lairs. On the map, areas marked as forbidden were areas that had Gold Grade Beast within them.
In the entirety of Red Stone City and Red Cliff City, there were no areas marked as forbidden at all.
Everyone gathered together, still in shock and at the same in awe at what had transpired. They were a terrifying existence, yet they were also a cause of reverence for others.
After all, Gold Grade Beasts were very rare and those who live to tell the tale that they have met one was far and between.
The strong have always been admired by the people and hated by their enemies. Beasts were no exemptions to this fact.
"You know its origin?" Miguel could not help but ask when he recalled Randy’s words earlier.
He had read the entire first edition of the book he received from Erika, yet there was no mention about this particular Gold Grade Beast at all.
The others looked at Randy, curious about that Gold Grade Beast’s origin as well.
Randy shook his head, "No. I just heard some rumors."
"I heard from my mercenary friends that they once saw a humongous ’lizard’ during one of their expeditions. At that time, they could identify what kind of Beast it was but they knew for a fact that it was a Gold Grade Beast at the very least from the King’s Aura that it emits."
"They said that it could breathe a continuous breath of fire and release scythe-like fire claws. Its long tail was very ferocious and sharp, it could cleanly cut a huge tree trunk in one swipe. At that time, no one truly believed them and we just brush this story off as another boasting. But the more they tell this story to others, the more it becomes believable. However, that was the last time that they saw that creature hence most of us were still skeptical about the truthfulness of their words. In the end, the beast was named Wingless Land Fire Dragon courtesy of its ability to spew out continuous fire and its wingless-dragon-like appearance."
"I also did not believe their story back then, as everyone knows that those who saw a Gold Grade Beast and lived to tell the tale were either strong beings, or extremely lucky people. And I know for a fact that those guys were neither of the two as they were not strong and would always be met with misfortune after misfortune to the point that no one dared to join their mercenary group and expeditions again."
"However, we could now confirm for ourselves that the creature just now was indeed the Wingless Land Fire Dragon that they saw back then. What’s strange about this is that they saw the Wingless Land Fire Dragon in Cyanid Volcano located at the far northern end of Blazing City."
Erika frowned hearing those words, "Could it be that it’s a different Wingless Fire Dragon? After all, Cyanid Volcano is very far from here. If it was the same beasts, then, human settlements should have seen and reported it to the authorities even before it could have arrive here."
