I Can Learn Anything And Everything With My Ability-Chapter 44: Grandma Via
Chapter 44: Grandma Via
Arthur:
An elf youth descended, holding a green sword—his sword suddenly vanished in a gust of wind. After that, he gave way for me to move forward. What is he thinking?
Then a girl with long hair stepped forward, as if begging him for something. I saw her crying and speaking words I couldn’t understand. I think she was asking him to let me go—or at least that’s what I think. And it seems she succeeded.
That young man raised his hand as if signaling me to move. Even that girl’s eyes were expecting me to do so. I sighed—I didn’t know what to say.
For that girl’s sake, I’ll relax. I sheathed my sword and began to move forward, and everyone on the sides lowered their weapons.
They simply surrounded me and guided me to follow them along a path.
We kept walking for several hours, and during those hours, that long green-haired girl didn’t leave me alone. Every time, she got close to me and spoke in words I couldn’t understand, only for a short-haired girl to come and pull her away from me by force.
After a while, everyone stopped at a certain area—all of it forest. Why did we stop? I don’t see any village.
That young man looked at me with serious eyes and placed his hand on a restraint position, as if asking me to do the same.
Hmm... I won’t do it, forget it... arghh, you girl... tch... After those innocent eyes of the girl defeated me, I agreed to do as that young man asked.
"Jjsjjsw hjhahh hahajah hshshaj hahaja jahaha"
Winds appeared, gathering around my hands, binding them in the form of a green bracelet.
That young man advanced forward and raised his hand into the air. Suddenly, as if he hit something, from the point where he placed his hand, lines began to move with growing vibrations, revealing a huge barrier that seemed endless no matter how much I raised my head.
He made several hand movements until his hands entered the barrier—he entered, and we entered after him.
I closed my eyes as I entered, and when I opened them, I saw a village. Houses, a paved road—it was as if I had entered a completely different world from the forest. As soon as we entered, people began gathering around the group of guards.
Some laughed with them, some hugged, some even kissed each other. It was clear that this group belonged to the village and had a deep connection with the people.
We kept moving slowly into the center of the village until we reached an old hut—it looked older than the other houses.
The green-haired young man knocked on the door, waiting for an answer from inside.
"Jsjsnan."
A female voice replied. He turned to look at me, then entered the house. I was pushed forward by someone, signaling me to enter with him.
I stepped forward and entered the house.
It was somewhat dark, with the smell of old wood, but it was very clean. There were many decorations and strange animal heads. In the middle of the house, there were two chairs facing each other near a warm fireplace.
And in one of those chairs sat a young-looking figure who didn’t seem older than sixteen—flat in every way. Her hair was white, and her eyes were green.
The young man stood at one side silently.
That figure sipped her hot tea, placed the cup on the table, and looked at me.
"Who are you calling flat?" a frown appeared on her face.
??? How can I understand her... Wait, how— I didn’t even speak yet.
"I’m older than you by a thousand years and more... It’s rude to underestimate me, child." She smiled, crossing her legs and interlocking her fingers.
"I read your thoughts. I don’t know your language, but from your memories, I’ve learned it now. Terrifying, isn’t it?"
"I’ll ask you several questions to make sure whether you’re a threat or not."
"First, did anyone come with you?" Via looked at me seriously, as if peering into my soul.
"No, just me." I answered.
"Excellent, correct answer." She clapped her small hands.
"How did you get here?"
"By luck—I got lost in the forest."
"Hmm... I see... um..."
"What do you think of us?"
"I see no difference between you and us," I answered easily. I truly don’t see a difference; they look just like humans.
"It’s from your heart. Unexpected, a human this honest. Very well, this allows you to stay here." She smiled broadly.
"One last question. Will you consider this place your home from now on, and will you protect it with all your strength?"
"Jshsna jsjsna jfhdhx jsjsba jajaja jsjaja jfjckc jdsjjs sksja."
The green-haired young man stepped forward, shouting and gesturing toward Via with disdain.
"Kai... be silent... This is my decision, and you have no right to question it. I see more than you do." She raised her hand in the air, silencing him.
It turned out his name was Kai.
"Hshssj hsjsa"
He stepped back with a look of disgust.
"Forgive him. He’s intelligent—so much that what he learns, he applies. Long ago, we elves were enslaved. Only the strongest among us could stand against this oppression. My father was one of them—the founder of this village."
"Kai doesn’t know that the situation outside has changed. Elves are no longer oppressed as before. We even have our own empire now."
"The history they learn is old, and I don’t deny it—it’s the truth. To prevent what happened in the past, the new generation must learn the mistakes of the old."
"Forget about him, he’ll calm down with time. Now answer my question."
"Will you provide me with shelter?"
"Yes." She closed her eyes, holding her cup of tea.
"Then I agree with what you said. I’ll consider this village my own as long as I live here."
"Good. Take this—it will help you adapt." She threw a seed that looked like a black bean.
"What’s this?" I wondered.
"Eat it and you’ll find out, John. Your support system will surely recognize it." She smiled, taking another sip of tea.
[...]
"..." This... she knew of your existence—and that I’m from another world... she’s dangerous to us.
"Hahaha, I possess the ability [Memory]. I can store, read, control, delete, and add. I can do anything you can imagine with this power."
"So don’t worry—I don’t intend anything bad for you. It’s all in that seed."
"Alright." I ate it, and after a few seconds, a gray system window appeared.
