I Can Only Cultivate In A Game-Chapter 233: Let’s Split Up
Chapter 233: Let’s Split Up
As they crossed into the fog-drenched basin, a monstrous growl rumbled through the mist.
"Keep moving," Victor ordered. "Quietly."
The eerie silence of this twisted realm was only broken by the sound of uneven footsteps and grunts of frustration.
The group moved forward cautiously, following the piece of Tarkos’ robe as it drifted steadily through the floating landscape, weaving between cliffs and levitating ridges.
But their pace was painfully slow.
It had already been a day since they arrived in this strange world.
"Damn it, I turned left again!" Juno shouted while skidding and bumping into a moss-covered stone outcrop.
"I told you—it’s right when you want to go left, and backward when you want to—wait—no, shit, I’m confused too now," Mirael groaned as she awkwardly spun around mid-air and nearly collided with Brin.
Xuan Qing clutched Victor’s arm tightly.
Her balance was still far from ideal just like the others. "This is ridiculous! My body says one thing, but this realm... it disobeys me!"
Only one person seemed unfazed... Brin.
He moved smoothly in this environment like he was one with the earth.
With each step, he seemed more comfortable, like he was adapting faster than the rest.
Victor observed silently, noting the subtle movements. ’Must be his earth Dao or something in his training.’
Still, even he had to admit, this place was infuriating.
They’d already passed two floating root bridges and a ridge when the terrain began to change again.
A soft sound of water reached their ears. Up ahead, nestled between floating plateaus and craggy ridges, was a stream—
Not just any stream... It was a floating stream flowing horizontally through the air like a serpent of glistening silver.
Strange violet mist rolled from its banks, giving it a ghostly aura.
Just above it, a dark, roiling cloud hovered.
Purple lightning danced within its depths, crackling silently and casting eerie flashes of light over the strange river.
"Looks unstable," Aeri Fan said while gazing at the storm.
However, the piece of robe didn’t pause... it continued gliding forward, moving towards the stream.
"We follow," Victor said. "We don’t have a choice."
There were still a bunch of floating mountains on the path that led to the river in between the floating ridges in the sky.
Mirael was the first to leap from one floating mountain to the next. Her body twisted mid-air as she attempted to compensate for the reversed gravity flow.
But the moment she reached the final floating mountain and launched forward toward the floating stream—
"WATCH OUT!"
Victor’s warning came too late.
A massive blur surged down from above. In the blink of an eye, a monstrous beast with a panther like form but with massive wings and eyes that glowed red, swooped down and *slapped* Mirael with one of its claws.
The sound was deafening.
Blood sprayed through the air as Mirael’s body spun while four gaping claw marks shredded through her armor and flesh.
She crashed into a rock outcrop with a wet thud, groaning as she tumbled limply to a halt.
"MI-RAEL!"
The group froze.
Notifications flashed into their vision.
> [Beast Identified: Riftclaw Predakyn]
> [Level: ??? | Rank: High Danger | Status: Aggressive]
The robe fragment continued drifting forward, disappearing into the mist above the floating stream.
Panic set in. If they lost sight of it now, Tarkos might be gone for good.
Victor gritted his teeth. "We have to split up."
"What?" Aeri Fan turned sharply.
"I’ll draw it off. You take the others and go after the cloth."
"I’m not letting you face this alone."
Brin stepped forward too while gathered around him. "Neither am I. I’ll stay."
Victor didn’t argue.
He turned to Xuan Qing and grabbed her wrist and pushed her towards the others. "Stay with them. Don’t argue. Go!"
"But—!"
"GO!"
He shoved her toward the others, and with a tearful glare, she reluctantly fled with the three who had chosen to chase the robe fragment.
Their forms vanished into the floating stream’s mist.
Now, only three remained.
The Riftclaw Predakyn circled once more and then descended with a guttural roar. Its claws gleamed with qi-resistant energy, slicing through the very air.
Victor launched forward while pulling out his sword but again left was right.
It momentarily skipped his mind, causing him to slash thin air.
Aeri activated a soul technique, launching spears of compressed qi into the air, but they missed, ricocheting wildly.
Brin used his shifting stance, slamming into the beast with a series of rapid jabs, but the hide was too thick. It barely flinched.
[ Shawow Crescent Strike Has Been Activated ]
Shadow tendrils surrounded Victor’s blade as he sped sideways and forced himself to aim left.
Upon slashing forward, his attack swept towards the right, but missed the beast by a hair length.
He had been slow by a few milliseconds because he was forcing his mind to adapt to opposite directions in the middle of battle.
With a slower opponent, his attack would have hit its mark but unfortunately, this beast was much faster and stronger than the others.
They were fighting a losing battle, and it showed.
Victor rolled to avoid another claw swipe while breathing heavily. He was bleeding from a gash across his shoulder.
His Void Qi churned in his dantian.
"This won’t work. We can’t fight like this..." he muttered.
Then he closed his eyes.
’I want to try something.’
He focused on channeling his Void Emperor bloodline, causing qi to surge outward like ripples across the terrain.
[ Void Emperor Bloodline Activated ]
His bloodline responded and as usual, arrow-like markings appeared along his skin with his eyes turning silver-white.
A wave of force pulsed outward as he covered the surroundings with his Void Emperor qi.
Suddenly, the space around him bent and shifted.
The strange gravitational laws of this world halted within a fifty-foot radius.
[ Congratulations... ]
[ You Have Triggered The Void Emperor Space Domain ]
Aeri who was about to misstep, stumbled as her body moved... normally.
Brin blinked. "The direction... it’s correct again?"
Victor rose slowly with a smirk. "I’ve rewritten the laws here. This is my space now."
He dashed forward and swerved towards the right to evade a claw swipe before slashing with intensity...
Screevvv~
This time, his blade struck true.
The Riftclaw screeched in surprise as Victor’s attack tore through its side, carving a long gash across its thick skin. The beast staggered but retaliated with a roar, swiping violently.
But now Victor wasn’t the only one fighting efficiently. Aeri was adapting quickly to the bubble of stability and launched a precise barrage of flaming qi darts into the creature’s neck.
Every hit triggered a combustion.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Brin followed up with a crushing spin-kick to its wing joint, sending it flailing back.
Victor grinned.
This was working.
Inside the dome of his Void Emperor Domain, normalcy returned. Even though it was only temporarily, it gave them the edge they needed.
Their movements synchronized. Their teamwork improved. They fought like cultivators again.
The Rift shrieked as it struggled under their onslaught. It’s attacks were getting more desperate.
Victor leapt high, wrapping his blade with a layer of of frost and shadows as he slashed downward with everything he had.
A blinding arc of power struck the beast’s skull and with a final roar, it crashed to the ground.
Dead.

Victor dropped to one knee while panting heavily as a Qi gathered from the surroundings and surged into him.
[ Nascent Soul Real Progress: 11% => 13% ]
Aeri was gasping too as her shoulder bled while Brin wiped sweat from his brow.
Qi gathered from the surroundings and surged into them as well.
They all got rewarded after slaughtering the creature.
"We... did it..." Aeri muttered.
Victor looked in the direction the robe had gone. "We lost time, but so long as the others are following, we can catch up."
He dispelled his domain, letting the realm’s madness return.
Now, they just had to regroup and find Tarkos.
Victor glanced once more at the motionless body of the Riftclaw Predakyn whose hide still twitched with postmortem reflexes.
Without hesitation, he pressed his hand against it, and the body vanished in a shimmer of light as it was absorbed into his storage ring.
Even dead, it might be worth something. If not for coin, then for materials.
"We move," he voiced with a firm tone. "The robe piece is long gone, but we can’t waste time."
Aeri Fan gave a nod while wiping blood from her cheek. "We have to head toward the floating stream. It’s our only lead."
Victor spat on his hand, moved towards her and slapped his spit soaked hand on her face.
"Hey! What the hell was that for?!" Aeri jumped backwards but ended up falling into Victor’s arms instead due to the altered direction.
"Ewww," she groaned upon noticing the slimy saliva rolling down her cheek as she separated from Victor.
"Looks like Fang Chen has a fetish," Brin broke into laughter.
