I Cast Forbidden Spells Until the World Breaks-Chapter 97 So Does That Mean I Beat Myself
Nia grabbed Zayne and tried to drag him toward her home.
Astrachior was always telling her that Zayne and Shadowcaster were the same person. Today, she was determined to prove to Astrachior that Zayne and Shadowcaster were two completely different people.
Shadowcaster might look plain and nowhere near as good looking as Zayne, but in Nia’s eyes, Shadowcaster was far more pleasing to look at.
More importantly, Shadowcaster was leagues ahead of Zayne in every way. He could casually pull out Dragon Pattern Mithril Gold and even legendary skill scrolls. Based on that alone, Zayne could chase him for a lifetime and still never catch up.
Zayne, meanwhile, did not know whether to laugh or cry. Proving that Shadowcaster was better than Zayne? Would that not just mean he was winning against himself?
"You really have the wrong person. I am not Shadowcaster."
Zayne pulled his hand free from Nia’s grip.
"That is impossible. Stop lying to me. I will never forget your silhouette," Nia said firmly.
"I told you, you are mistaken," Zayne replied helplessly.
"Then tell me yourself. Who are you, exactly?"
Faced with Nia’s relentless questioning, Zayne finally lost all patience.
"You are impossible to reason with."
He turned around and walked away, no longer interested in arguing with her.
Once he reached a less crowded area, he planned to activate Swiftstep Waltz and disappear. There was no way Nia could keep up with him.
"Stop right there, Shadowcaster. I really mean no harm."
Nia hurried after him. Seeing that Zayne completely ignored her, she bit her lower lip in frustration and pulled out her phone to make a call.
Seeing Zayne and Nia entangled like this, the people who had been secretly following him with ulterior motives could only give up their plans of murder and robbery.
They did not know Zayne’s identity, but they knew Nia’s very well.
She was Astrachior’s only daughter. In Old Shipyard Port, who would dare lay a finger on Astrachior’s daughter unless they had lost their mind?
Zayne deliberately turned into narrow alleyways, with Nia stubbornly following close behind.
Soon, the two entered a sparsely populated area. Just as Zayne was about to activate Swiftstep Waltz and shake her off, he suddenly saw two investigators standing directly ahead.
"So the legendary Shadowcaster who killed the underground king Dano actually looks this ordinary. Truly, appearances can be deceiving."
Howard stared at Zayne’s face and could not help but sigh.
Beside him, his disciple Scott was tense and alert. After all, the person in front of them was the terrifying figure who had killed Dano.
Zayne frowned and glanced at Nia. It was obvious that Howard and Scott had been brought here by her.
Seeing the cold look in Zayne’s eyes, Nia’s heart trembled. She quickly explained.
"Shadowcaster, do not misunderstand. They are not here to arrest you. You would not listen to me, so I had no choice but to call them."
"I really have no bad intentions. I just want you to come home with me and meet my father. He has been deceived by a very bad person."
"If you have any conditions, you can tell me. I will do my best to satisfy them."
She spoke earnestly, afraid that Zayne would refuse.
She looked at him with pleading eyes, like a little girl begging her father to take her to an amusement park, pitiful and sincere.
"Let us go."
Zayne spoke coldly.
His head ached. Nia was stubborn to the extreme. He suspected that if he continued refusing her, she might even summon Astrachior on the spot.
Since that was the case, it was better to go with her and see Astrachior directly. Astrachior already knew that he was Shadowcaster anyway.
"Okay."
When Zayne agreed, Nia’s eyes lit up instantly.
"I am sorry to trouble you both to come all this way."
She apologized awkwardly to Howard and Scott.
"It is no trouble. We also want to see whether the man who killed Dano truly has three heads and six arms," Howard said coldly, casting Zayne a sharp glance.
The Dano case had almost been completely unraveled, only for the higher ups to forcefully close it. It had always been a thorn in Howard’s heart.
After Zayne and Nia walked away, Scott finally spoke.
"It looks like Shadowcaster and Zayne really are two different people."
"Not necessarily. He might be using some kind of item that alters appearance. Forget it. The case is already closed. There is no point dwelling on it."
Howard shook his head with a bitter smile. He was just a small time investigator. Even if he had grievances, he could only comply with orders from above.
...
"You are saying that Zayne used Phantom Visage to disguise himself as someone else, went to the Transcender Guild to sell equipment and skill scrolls, ran into Nia by coincidence, got mistaken for Shadowcaster, and is now being dragged here by her?"
Even with Astrachior’s composure, he was momentarily stunned upon hearing this. Such a ridiculous chain of events could actually happen?
"Yes, Astrachior. I saw it with my own eyes. How could it be fake?" Double J said. "That kid wanted to run, but Nia called the investigators and blocked him. That is why he could not get away."
Astrachior rubbed his temples.
"What a mess... wait. You said he appeared in front of the investigators?"
"Yes," Double J nodded.
"Then perhaps... this might actually be a good thing."
Astrachior revealed a meaningful smile.
At that moment, Nia excitedly dragged Zayne back home and shoved the door open with a loud bang.
"Dad. Dad. Come out quickly. Look who I brought back."
"What is it, Nia? Why are you so happy?"
Astrachior walked out, pretending to know nothing. When Zayne saw him, he was about to remove Phantom Visage to reveal his identity, but Astrachior stopped him with a look.
Nia ran over happily, shaking Astrachior’s arm.
"Dad. This is Shadowcaster. I told you already. Shadowcaster is so much better than that cowardly Zayne. Zayne is not even worthy of carrying his shoes. You refused to believe me and insisted that Zayne and Shadowcaster were the same person."
"Look. I brought him back today. Let me tell you, Shadowcaster was incredible at the Transcender Guild. He took out more than ten high tier pieces of equipment all by himself. He even had Dragon Pattern Mithril Gold and legendary skill scrolls."
"You should have seen everyone’s expressions. Shadowcaster was the center of attention, surrounded by people, admired by all..."
Nia rambled on excitedly, smiling brightly, completely immersed in her enthusiasm.
Double J stood to the side, nodding with emotion.
"Nia has not smiled like this in a long time."
Nia passionately described how outstanding Zayne was, praising him to the skies, so much so that Zayne himself felt a bit embarrassed.
Then Nia suddenly changed the subject, looking at Astrachior with eager eyes.
"Dad. If you really want to take in a disciple, why not kick Zayne out and take Shadowcaster instead? Shadowcaster is a hundred times stronger than that cowardly Zayne. Really. I am not lying."
