I Contracted All Ancient Divine Artifacts-Chapter 298 - 197: Vessel of Greed
At the moment of finishing the diary,
Han Zhan exhaled a deep breath of turbid air.
The amount of information was overwhelming; he needed to take a moment to process it.
"The part of Frog’s diary about the Longevity Company corroborates something from before."
Some time ago, when the ancestor of Can Shang Company, Shang Jianyue, saw him at Julu Pass in North County, he had said some strange things.
At that time, he had already indirectly mentioned the Longevity Company.
The diary revealed that the former chief scientist of the Longevity Company had reached a conclusion through his research that confirmed it.
"When the mutant cells in a body exceed the normal range, or even completely replace normal cells, can that person still be considered human?"
From Frog’s diary, Han Zhan found the answer.
Additionally, there were clues about Frog’s identity.
He was Mutant Walker 001, the most powerful Mutant Walker, who would certainly not die so easily.
The diary recorded up to the 150th year of the Catastrophe, which did not mean Frog lived only that long; he must have been active somewhere for a long time afterwards.
"The Dream Demon?" Han Zhan thought of the content on the last line of the last page of the diary and silently recited it.
At that moment, Han Zhan felt the constraint within his body disappear.
His body began to return to its original size at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The one-hour duration of the Horseradish Wine had ended.
The first thing Han Zhan did upon resuming his form was to put on clothes.
He noticed three equally bare figures nearby, hastily putting on their clothes in embarrassment.
Fortunately, there was some distance between them, so it was not too awkward.
Getting hit by a sword accidentally would be a nightmare for a month!
Once all four were fully dressed, they regrouped.
"Thank you for saving my life." The words of gratitude felt awkward, but Zhan Ning forced them out.
Without the Horseradish Wine Han Zhan gave them, the explosion from the Mechanical Sect would have left them crippled at best.
A Knight’s Aura is most vulnerable to this kind of continuous saturation attack; it has always been their weak point.
"No need to rush with the thanks. What do you plan to do next?" Han Zhan waved his hand, showing little concern for Zhan Ning’s gratitude, and instead asked.
Zhan Ning and Yu Lian had been ordered by the Fallen Knights to hunt him down.
Now that they had succeeded, simply reporting back seemed inadequate.
Yu Lian shook her head, "What else can we do but stay in the Medicine Valley a while longer?"
"If the Fallen Knights ask, we can say we were ambushed by the Mechanical Sect, directing the enmity towards them."
Yu Lian had already devised a plan during the hour she was turned into microdust.
"Aren’t you going to consider returning to Buried Sword City with me? Even if you can’t enter the city, the outskirts should be a bit safer."
"Ha." Yu Lian scoffed at Han Zhan’s suggestion, "You still haven’t figured out your own situation."
"Surely you don’t think this hunting plan only involved me, Zhan Ning, and the Mechanical Sect? From what I’ve heard, the Life and Death Apostle is also directly involved!"
"With his strange ability, we have a chance to survive in the Medicine Valley, but going to Buried Sword City is likely a death sentence."
The Life and Death Apostle is here too?
Hearing Yu Lian’s words, Han Zhan and Chen Zui exchanged glances.
"There won’t be a problem. If his target is Buried Sword City, then the Abnormal Skeleton Spirit Sword won’t let him off."
"He can’t enter, nor break through," Chen Zui said with confidence.
Tier Nine is not something trivial; with the Abnormal Skeleton Spirit Sword there, trying to attack Buried Sword City isn’t taken lightly.
Since Yu Lian and Zhan Ning were unwilling to go to Buried Sword City, Han Zhan did not persist.
Han Zhan and Chen Zui continued to pick Forgetful Grass, while Yu Lian and Zhan Ning chose a different path.
They parted ways.
Fortunately, in areas not affected by the Mechanical Sect’s attack, a large amount of Forgetful Grass was still thriving under the sunlight.
Han Zhan’s picking went smoothly.
After collecting the herbs, he and Chen Zui didn’t linger in Medicine Valley and set off towards Buried Sword City.
The Life and Death Apostle had yet to appear, the Mechanical Sect’s second wave was pending, and the Fallen Knights hadn’t acted yet.
The outside was dangerous.
...
"You’re finally back."
Seeing the two figures at the city gate, Elder Bing breathed a sigh of relief.
"The commotion from afar earlier, was that your doing?"
"It was the Virtual-Real Technology of the Mechanical Sect," Han Zhan briefly explained the trials they faced in Medicine Valley, without mentioning anything about Frog’s diary.
This information was too confidential and important; the fewer people who knew, the better.
"The Mechanical Sect, Holy Bishop, and Sun Never Sets Knight Order seem to be up to something," Elder Bing mused aloud.
"Fortunately, the herbs were successfully gathered; we’re one step closer to the truth."
The next step was to methodically process the herbs.
With Mimosa and Forgetful Grass being key ingredients for brewing Separation Wine, Chen Zui, being the most experienced, naturally took on the tedious, repetitive task.
Han Zhan had time to sit down with Elder Bing and watch Chen Zui work.
Not long after they sat down, Dong Dachui appeared, wearing a dark face.
In his hand, he carried two items.
A sword and a vessel.
Dong Dachui tossed the sword and vessel in front of Han Zhan, his thunderous voice echoing around them.
"Here, your Moonlight Longsword, fully repaired."
As Han Zhan grasped the sword, he felt its agility; the nicks on its blade were gone, truly in a fully repaired state.
Then he looked at the other item on the table.
It was a palm-sized gray pot-bellied vessel, appearing somewhat silver in its material, but leaning towards gray.
Staring at it, Han Zhan had an illusion of the spout grinning back at him.
"What is this item?" Han Zhan asked, curious.
"The attempt to reforged the Demon Crossing Cloth failed, resulting in this thing, which wasted quite a few materials," Dong Dachui answered honestly.
Upon hearing "failed," Han Zhan immediately stood up.
"Failed? What about my Tier Eight Cloth?!"
"Calm down, calm down." Dong Dachui was startled by Han Zhan’s reaction, "The reforge failed, so the Demon Crossing Cloth has naturally gone back to the forge."
"This pot is the byproduct of the failure; I thought it’d be useless to me, so I’m giving it to you."
Dong Dachui, for once, was being generous.
Hearing that the Demon Crossing Cloak was fine, Han Zhan calmed down from his outburst and curiously asked, "What is this pot called?"
"Vessel of Greed."
