Up to No Good

Shen Yanqing gestured for Assistant Yuan to pass him his phone. As he opened the delivery app, he continued with the subject and remarked, “You do seem to be different from usual today.”

“Is there anything to be happy about? Why don’t you share the good news so that we can be happy too?”

Assistant Yuan shook his head repeatedly. “No, no. President Shen, I’m not happy at all.”

“I just ordered an extra meal and it has to be deducted from my salary, so I’m super sad now.”

Nan Ge did not believe him. “Really?”

Assistant Yuan did not even blink. He opened his mouth and said, “Really. I almost want to kneel and kowtow to my boss now.”

Nan Ge, “…” Something seemed odd about Huasheng Group’s corporate culture.

Shen Yanqing looked up at Assistant Yuan, who immediately kept quiet and maintained a smile.

As Shen Yanqing spoke, he pulled Nan Ge’s thoughts back.

“Nan Ge, take a look. Is this okay?”

Nan Ge quickly leaned over and tilted her head to look at the words on the screen.

[The delivery man is very punctual, has timely communication, and is polite. (Five stars)]

It was a standard good review and it was cold without a trace of warmth. Nan Ge acknowledged briefly and said in a long nasal tone, “Why don’t you write a few more lines? If the manager saw it, he might pay me $2 more.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Yanqing turned on the keyboard and asked, “How should I write it?”

Nan Ge also felt that she was making things difficult for him.

Shen Yanqing was a well-known entrepreneur in town.

She waved her hand and let him go. “Why don’t we forget it? I don’t think you have even used the word ‘delivery’ in your life.”

“…” Shen Yanqing coughed lightly and defended himself in a low voice. “I can still use this word, but I have never ordered takeout.”

He could tell that she was indirectly teasing him for not ordering takeout.

“But I’ve learned how to do it.” He paused and added.

Seeing this, Nan Ge gently rubbed her cheek with her finger. “Then if you really can’t write it, you can praise me.”

Shen Yanqing did not hesitate. “Okay.”

Nan Ge did not look at what he wrote next. She silently retreated and continued to eat.

“I’m done eating!” Ten minutes later, Nan Ge finished eating and cleared the table.

“Well, it’s getting late. I have to go back to school.”

Hearing this, Shen Yanqing stood up. “Shall I send you back?”

“No. I’m good. I drove.”

Shen Yanqing thought that she had driven over in yesterday’s electric scooter. “There’s snow on the road. It’s not safe, right?”

“Nope. It had mostly melted by the time I came over.” Nan Ge put on her down jacket and bent down to zip it up.

She had already shamelessly taken a free meal from him. She did not have the cheek to take up his offer to drive her back.

After thanking him again, Nan Ge said goodbye and turned to leave without hesitation.

Shen Yanqing subconsciously followed behind her. Just as he moved, he saw the figure in front of him suddenly stop and turn around.

“Oh, yes.”

“Huh? Did you leave anything behind?”

Nan Ge shook her head. “I just remembered something. Before we ate, you asked me to help you sample the food. Then, if it’s good, you can order from our restaurant in the future.”

“Does that still count?” She winked.

“Yes, it does. I’ll order tomorrow again. Remember to come.”

“Uh huh! Good!”

“See you tomorrow, Professor Shen!”

Hearing this form of address, Shen Yanqing stopped in his tracks and sent her out with a smile.

The two of them walked side by side to the elevator. Shen Yanqing reached out and pressed the private elevator button. He turned around and said to her, “You seem to have a lot of different forms of salutation for me.”

“Huh? Is that so?” Nan Ge counted carefully with her fingers. “Mr. Shen, President Shen, Boss Shen, Professor Shen… There are only four of them.”

“Not only that. Let’s not forget Shen Yanqing and the terracotta soldiers.”

Nan Ge, “…”

Why was it so hard to keep up a conversation with him?

Nan Ge glared at him, but it was not lethal. Shen Yanqing smiled as he watched her get into the elevator.

She closed the elevator door without giving him a chance to enter.

As soon as she arrived downstairs, Nan Ge received a WeChat message from Shen Yanqing. There were only three words: [See you tomorrow.]

——

Assistant Yuan chased after her, wanting to help Shen Yanqing send Nan Ge off. Unexpectedly, Nan Ge disappeared the moment he arrived.

“Good afternoon, Assistant Yuan.” Coincidentally, a security guard came in from outside.

Assistant Yuan asked, “Where did you go?”

“Oh. Li mentioned she was an important guest and asked me to send her off.” Li was the company’s receptionist.

An esteemed guest?

...

Assistant Yuan turned around and looked at Li to confirm. “Are you referring to the young lady who delivered the food just now?

“Yes, I am.”

“Delivery?” The security guard was stunned. “It sure didn’t look like it.”

“No, she was.” Assistant Yuan nodded. “She might not look like one, but she’s a hardworking student working part-time. That’s normal, right?”

“I see.” The security guard nodded, not fully understanding.

“Enough. Stop talking about this matter. This is an important guest. She has a close relationship with President Shen.” Before Assistant Yuan left, he did not forget to remind him. “Be careful tomorrow. She will come to deliver food again. Send her directly to the elevator. Remember to help her with the food.”

“Alright!”

After watching Assistant Yuan leave, Li at the front desk, looked at the security guard still rooted to the ground, and asked curiously, “What are you thinking about?”

“Are the standards for students working part-time so high now?”

“What do you mean?”

“The lady who delivered the food earlier drove a silver Lamborghini…”

...

“Huh? No way, right?”

“I saw it with my own eyes. It’s a Lamborghini Maverick worth three million dollars. It even left me with a face full of exhaust.”

“…”

This was probably the idea of fun for the wealthy.

——

After settling the big order, Nan Ge hummed a little tune all the way back to the dormitory.

“Nan Ge?” Hearing the door open, Su Hui, who was revising, glanced at the door. “I thought you weren’t coming back this afternoon.”

“Hmph.” Nan Ge took off her down jacket and stuffed it into the cabinet. She ran over and sat down beside Su Hui. “Guess how much I earned this afternoon!”

Looking at her smug expression, Su Hui knew that she must have earned a lot.

Su Hui made a bold guess and extended two fingers. Nan Ge smiled and shook her head. “You’re too green. More.”

Seeing she had no idea, Nan Ge leaned over and whispered a number to her.

Su Hui sat up straight in shock. “Oh god. Did you drive your Lamborghini out to beg for a living?”

“Pfft, pfft, pfft!” Nan Ge corrected. “It’s a delivery!”

“Coincidentally, we encountered a huge order. The guy who ordered was a big shot. We’re already long-term strategic partners.”

“Erm…” Su Hui was a little worried. She turned around and grabbed Nan Ge’s hand with a serious expression. “Tell me the truth. Is the person who ordered your meal very old?”

“Huh?” Nan Ge calculated carefully.

Was an eight-year difference considered old?

“Well, he is older than me. He seems to be the same age as my little uncle.”

“Look! I knew it! He’s old enough to even be your uncle, Nan Ge!”

“Turn him down immediately!”

“Huh?” Nan Ge was puzzled.

“An old and bald middle-aged greasy male boss like him is most likely lusting after you! He’s up to no good!”
