I Don't Agree to the Terms-Chapter 614 - 333: The Sundial that Creates Disaster
In the twentieth month of Shanhai, the entire world had already started to stabilize, but the decline of civilization was becoming increasingly severe.
Gu Shanhai effortlessly suppressed the regional earthquake, his expression growing more perplexed.
"Where is the source? According to the data, the location that caused the disaster across the realm should be around here."
After three months of further testing Rein’s Divine Power and finding no effect, Gu Shanhai set out to search for the source of the disaster.
Based on his month-long investigation and extensive data research, he confirmed the location was indeed in this area.
Of course, whether or not it was actually there, Gu Shanhai was not certain, and he could only proceed to investigate.
"Has it moved?"
"Or is it not the source but merely a radiating site?"
Gu Shanhai carefully investigated but found nothing.
"Or is there no source at all, and these disasters are all randomly generated?" Gu Shanhai was also somewhat unsure.
Based on the data and intelligence he collected, it was very likely that there was a source rather than a random occurrence.
The recent overload state of the world was gradually decreasing, which clearly was caused by something that led to an overall decline, giving Gu Shanhai the feeling that something was being nurtured, or perhaps it had already been fully nurtured.
Gu Shanhai had observed these phenomena through the Divine Power data from Rein, which helped him monitor the entire world.
However, the things observed were limited; otherwise, he would not need to travel and investigate everywhere in order to further observe. As for Rein, he could sense even less than Gu Shanhai, having only a vague intuition-like feeling, without the clear data that Gu Shanhai possessed.
"If that’s the case, then... damn, you still dare to argue with me?"
Gu Shanhai was about to leave when he suddenly noticed the ground continuously shaking, the strong vibrations erupting ceaselessly. If the earthquake he suppressed just now was a magnitude eight, it had now increased to a nine.
Clearly, this was some form of retaliation from the disaster source, otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence.
With his strength, not only had he suppressed the earthquake but also managed the Earth Vein, so it was impossible for another earthquake to occur, not even aftershocks. Yet now, it was as if a slap had been delivered to Gu Shanhai, indicating the power of the opponent.
"Push it back!" Gu Shanhai acted without hesitation.
Mana and the vibrations canceled each other out, completely erasing the pending earthquake.
"Now you’ve got my attention."
Gu Shanhai had thought there was no source, but now the opponent had directly exposed themselves. He was unsure what their motive could be.
"So, what exactly is it? A living thing or an inanimate object?"
Concerning the source, Gu Shanhai was baffled; he had data that could confirm its existence but couldn’t ascertain what it was.
The Prophetic Divination had not yet recovered, so Gu Shanhai could not verify it; the influence of Shanhai still lingered in this world.
"I’ve found it!" Gu Shanhai’s Spiritual Sense continued to spread, relentlessly probing within tens of thousands of miles. Assisted by the Four Saints Beasts System, he constructed a 3D map and scanned all objects, during which he detected something remarkably different.
His form instantly shifted, and he saw a human face-like stone mask embedded atop a sundial.
The face on the mask bore an angry expression, and where there should have been numbers on the sundial, there were instead some odd patterns resembling hieroglyphs, depicting various disasters.
At that moment, because of the sun’s angle, the pointer on the sundial had landed in the earthquake zone.
"What is this thing..." Gu Shanhai reached out to touch it, only to find that the sundial had no physical form, or perhaps what Gu Shanhai had found was merely its projection. The true body was not here.
"Let’s call it the disaster sundial for now. Where is its body?"
Gu Shanhai was certain that the disasters around the realm were caused by this sundial, as whenever the pointer on the sundial moved, it would cause a disaster somewhere.
As to whether it was true or false, Gu Shanhai was still waiting.
As time passed, the shadow on the sundial moved again, slowly shifting from the earthquake zone to the tsunami zone.
The form of the disaster sundial also gradually began to blur, perhaps because it was only a projection, and wherever there was a disaster, it would go there.
When the disaster sundial completely disappeared, Gu Shanhai instantly sensed a violent tsunami erupting in a certain sea area.
Gu Shanhai promptly arrived there, but this time, he did not startle the snake and instead found the disaster sundial again on the seabed in the deep sea.
Even in the dark, sunless depths of the ocean, the shadow-like pointer still existed.
"Perhaps this is its true form." Gu Shanhai continuously collected data, suddenly realizing that it was not that its body wasn’t here, but that its body was the disaster itself.
"There’s a big problem; what should I do?"
Gu Shanhai sharply sensed that with each disaster caused by the disaster sundial, it grew stronger, and thus the magnitude of triggered disasters also increased. Even though it could only cause one disaster at a time, it did not mean it was over after triggering one.
The subsequent troubles were what really caused headaches.
"This thing, is it like a rule?" Gu Shanhai was not entirely sure; it felt to him like a stronger version of a Saint and a weaker version of a deity.
