I Don't Need To Log Out-Chapter 74: A Magician’s Secret (2)

Arlon didn’t know what to do.

Now that everyone had logged out, he was alone. But once they logged back in, Arlon needed to be in the exact same spot.

What did that mean?

Since everyone assumed Arlon also had to log out, he couldn’t leave the spot where they had last seen him.

If he moved, questions would arise about how he managed to move while everyone else was offline.

Of course, he was free to do whatever he wanted until they returned. So, he started marking his "log-out" spot. This was his second biggest challenge yet—the first being making friends.

He was determined to keep his ability to stay logged in a secret, especially from the players. It was also why he kept his face hidden.

His defenseless body on Earth left him vulnerable, and the fewer people who knew his secret, the safer he would be.

---

In the end, Arlon marked his "log-out" spot and returned to the bustling streets of Kelta.

He needed to prepare for his departure.

First, he visited an alchemy shop. While it wasn’t as exceptional as Charon’s, the potions were still among the best in Trion, given Kelta’s prominence.

He bought the potions he needed and then made his way to the inn for the night.

He also needed to use his Doppelganger skill to prepare a copy of himself.

Since everything in Kelta was recorded, having the copy suddenly vanish could attract unwanted attention.

After setting everything up, Arlon retired to his room. It was time to finish reading A Magician’s Secret.

---

Arlon approached the book with respect, already considering Agema his master. He read with full focus.

To his surprise, the book wasn’t a straightforward instructional guide but more like a research compendium.

While it contained spells, its main purpose was to teach the fundamentals to Agema’s disciple.

Yet, considering Agema was the most powerful magician known, even her "basic" spells were extraordinary.

As he read, he reached a peculiar message toward the book’s end:

***

My Dear Disciple,

I hope this book helps you reach the top. (Yes, as my disciple, the top is the only place you belong.)

I dream of a cute disciple, but who knows? Maybe some random assassin found this book and is reading it out of boredom.

Still, I hold onto hope that my true disciple is training hard.

Anyway, if you’ve made it this far, you should now understand the basics of magic. Of course, I will teach you advanced magic in time. But first, I need to ensure your foundation is solid.

Oh, and I want to see you.

Well, not literally. I’m dead, so that’s impossible. Hehe!

There are ways to "see" me. For example, you could summon a necromancer to reanimate my corpse...

Ah, please don’t do that! I don’t want to be a living corpse. No, you are my disciple, so I want to be honest with you! I don’t want to be ugly.

Anyway, another way is to pray for my revival—but sorry, that won’t work either.

Sigh... it is boring to count all the ways for us to talk, so I will go ahead and tell you the answer. I’ve left behind a fragment of my consciousness.

"What? Is it even possible?" you ask? Hehe! Who do you think I am? Of course, it is possible.

But, you can only see me if you trained really hard with everything I taught you.

My secret isn’t for everyone, I will only give my secrets to a cute female discip- no, sorry, it’s only for my most hardworking disciple.

Doesn’t matter if she is a woman or not. I am serious! It doesn’t matter.

Anyway, it is time to get serious. Until now, I talked about my magic research and the magic theory.

What I’ve shared so far is just the beginning. My true legacy—the thing the Magus Council fears—is my grimoire.

I made a grimoire...

It contains every spell I ever created.

If they find it... nothing will happen, don’t worry. Only someone with my magic vessels can control it.

But, I had to hide it still. You never know when there will be a stronger Magus than me who can use my grimoire.

So, stop reading the book. Yes, this book is over, after this part, I only talk about the whereabouts of my grimoire.

So, don’t read it until you go to Samera Mash.

If you are already at Samera Mash, here is the information you need...

***

Arlon closed the book at that point, trusting Agema’s guidance. While he wasn’t the "cute female disciple" she had hoped for, he was still her disciple—and he would honor her wishes.

He decided to wait until he was level 150 before heading to Samera Mash.

---

The next morning, Arlon returned to the spot where everyone had logged out.

A few people were milling around, minding their own business, which put him at ease. After waiting two minutes at the exact spot he’d marked, everyone began logging back in.

What he feared didn’t happen and everyone just greeted each other.

Well, it was hard for people to notice something anyway even if Arlon didn’t wait at the exact same spot since no one carefully marked the others. Read latest chapters on novelbuddy.com

But, it was better to be safe than sorry.

Arlon had prepared everything, so, after waiting another two minutes, "Arlon the guide" approached the group.

"Mr. Arlon," his Doppelganger said, "Lady Rael would like to see you."

"Huh? Just me?" Arlon asked, feigning surprise.

"Yes, please follow me."

After excusing himself, Arlon followed the Doppelganger to meet Lady Rael. She was waiting for them because Arlon had requested a meeting with Zephyrion.

Zephyrion accepted, so Lady Rael brought Arlon and the copy to Zephyrion.

Arlon told Zephyrion about what he would do this week.

Even though Zephyrion was shocked, he would let Arlon go. Since Zephyrion knew his combat power, he was sure that Arlon could achieve this.

Zephyrion also added, "If you achieve this, I will do what you wanted as a reward right away. If you can’t, as you know, we won’t be able to see each other again."

This was because Demons possessed Zeno, which meant that if a Demon killed Arlon, his Zeno would cease to function, permanently barring him from entering the game again even with a new Zeno.

Of course, the same was true in reverse—if Arlon managed to kill a Demon, their Zeno would be destroyed as well.

Draco was the weakest Demon. He was also the biggest Keldar since he was literally a dragon-type Keldar, which was almost extinct.

Naturally, Draco wasn’t alone.

The Named Monsters, also known as Functionaries, stayed with the Demons. Their main job was to serve them.

To clarify, all intelligent Keldars were classified as Functionaries, but only the strongest twelve were considered Demons.

However, since the Keldars only possessed 13 Zenos, all of the Functionaries except for the Demons and Asef, had to exist physically in Trion instead of through Zeno projection.

This meant that Draco had Functionaries Functionaries1 accompanying him.

For now, Arlon needed to face them alone.

Fortunately, his plan was solid. He believed he could handle Draco and his entourage on his own. In fact, Arlon was confident he could take on any of the Demons or Named Monsters by himself.

However, doing so would take a significant amount of time and would inevitably disrupt Trion.

That was why Arlon had suggested informing the other players about the reality of the game and training them to fight effectively.

By doing this, he could delegate the task of dealing with the Named Monsters to the players, while he focused on the Demons in the upcoming battles.

This would save time compared to leveling up to a point where he could single-handedly face both the Demons and their Functionaries simultaneously.

Unbeknownst to Arlon, he was in the process of assembling his own team.

Functionaries will be called "Named Monsters" from now on.
