Realizing he couldn’t just leave the dragon on the table, Arlon thought of his next steps. First, he needed to learn more about it.

He activated the Eyes of K*T** and focused on the creature.

***

Unnamed Baby Dragon (???)

"A newborn dragon of unknown origins. Its lineage is marked by great power, but its full potential remains untapped."

More specific information can be seen after it becomes an adult.

Arlon frowned. "That’s not very helpful. Could you be any more vague?"

The dragon tilted its head again as if mocking his frustration.

"Alright, fine. Let’s start simple," Arlon said, leaning closer to the dragon. "Do you understand me?"

The dragon chirped in response, its tail swishing lightly against the blanket.

"Great. That’s… a start, I guess. Well, if it was a Keldar, it couldn’t understand me. Keldars are born unintelligent. That is one worry out of the way."

Arlon decided to give it a name, reasoning that it might strengthen their bond or at least make things less awkward. He looked at the dragon thoughtfully.

"Let’s see… how about Nyx? It fits your colors and… well, your mysterious vibe."

The dragon chirped louder this time, its golden eyes brightening.

"Nyx it is, then," Arlon said with a small smile.

Nyx stretched its tiny wings, which shimmered faintly in the light, before curling back into its cozy spot on the blanket.

Arlon took a deep breath. "Alright, Nyx. I guess we’re stuck with each other now."

Wait, didn’t Karmel say there were three surprises? The enchanted equipment guide and the dragon make two.

What Arlon didn’t know was that his right eye was sparkling with silent sparks after he woke up.

The weekend passed without any issues.

It was now the fifth month since the launch of EVR. Arlon received some rewards for topping the leaderboards, but they were unremarkable.

The only significant leaderboard reward before the one-year mark was the sixth-month reward. So, Arlon merely accepted the current rewards when the notification appeared and put them out of mind. He was waiting for the next month.

Over the weekend, Arlon only left the inn once, and that was to show Nyx to Zephyrion.

Surprisingly, Zephyrion didn’t seem concerned. He even issued Arlon a permit to carry Nyx with him in public.

Arlon thought this meant there would be no issues walking around with a dragon.

He was wrong.

On his way back, he decided not to hide Nyx, now that he had a permit. The result? A swarm of curious onlookers bombarded him with questions, fawning over Nyx’s cuteness.

Though Arlon had officially named her, the dragon’s status screen remained mostly unchanged. Only her level was now visible—zero.

He also discovered he didn’t need to use Eyes of K*T** to view Nyx’s status. His system provided the information directly.

That’s also how he learned Nyx was female.

So, during the weekend, Arlon read books to learn new things. Mostly about Trion, though, and not about dragons since Trion never had any dragons.

What he did learn firsthand was Nyx’s voracious appetite. She ate only meat... and a lot of it.

Of course, that is only as far as he knew since Arlon didn’t experiment with other foods but stuck to what worked.

But If Nyx liked anything more than meat, it was mana. She continually drew small amounts of Arlon’s mana.

It didn’t hurt him since the dragon didn’t absorb too much of his mana, but he was concerned for the future when Nyx became an adult and drew more mana.

This also ruled out any joking thoughts of giving Nyx to Zack—who had no mana anyway.

Not that Arlon ever seriously considered it.

And so, Arlon spent most of his weekend in his room at the inn, caring for Nyx and planning his next steps.

It was now Monday morning, which meant it was Monday evening on Earth, and it was almost time for the players to log in.

When the players logged in, they would be moved to their rooms in the Citadel. Continue reading at novelbuddy

While waiting for the players to arrive, Arlon decided to revisit the instructions on enchanted equipment that Karmel had gifted him.

---

In Trion, there were three types of enchantments:

The first type was the one used by the heroes of the past. They created equipment using the cores of monsters they had slain.

This method was considered the pinnacle of enchantment, capable of bestowing equipment with skills, stat bonuses, or unique features like invulnerability—such as the Sentinel’s Legacy Set.

The second type was the common enchantment used by contemporary Trionians. It functioned more like a prayer, granting temporary bonuses.

However, these enhancements were minor and lacked the permanence and power of the first type.

The last one was the player enchantments. These were closest to the first type in nature since they were basically the same.

The only difference was the players didn’t use monster cores given the absence of monsters on Trion.

Thus, player enchantments were stronger than those of Trionian natives but still fell short of the legendary enchantments of past heroes.

There were additional methods, such as alchemy or magical engineering, which could further enhance equipment.

Some even theorized that magical engineering was developed as an attempt to replicate enchanted equipment.

However, these were considered separate disciplines, not branches of enchantment.

Arlon read the instructions. He had already read it before, but he was scared that the paper would vanish for some reason.

He still didn’t trust Karmel.

The instructions themselves were challenging... Arlon didn’t even know how to acquire the necessary tools, so he noted a reminder in his system to ask Charon about them later.

He still didn’t know Charon’s past. He was cursed by Karmel, or maybe a friend of his? Iut it shouldn’t have been possible.

In the end, Arlon still didn’t know anything.

So he put the paper back into his inventory and opened the player forum for the second time in this timeline:

- Savior Spin-Off.

- Arlon is back to leveling up!

- Fight against these b*stards occupying the leveling zones.

- The most beautiful Trionian survey.

.

.

.

The headlines were about what he expected. The Savior Spin-Off was clearly speculation about crossing to the Keldars’ side.

It should already be mostly completed, Arlon thought. There could even be spies among the players on the Trionians’ side by now.

Still, he didn’t dwell on it too much. He had already warned Zephyrion about the possibility. And no matter how disheartening it was, Arlon knew he couldn’t save everyone.

As for the second headline, he ignored it entirely. It was embarrassing to see his name there again, no matter the context.

The third headline caught his attention briefly. It addressed the guilds occupying leveling zones, an issue players were growing increasingly frustrated with.

However, with one Demon down, Kelta might now feel relieved enough to deploy soldiers and address the problem.

Arlon had already discussed the matter with Zephyrion, so he felt no need to linger on it.

Finally, there was the last headline…

The most beautiful Trionian survey?

Arlon sighed but couldn’t resist. He was a man, after all. Curiosity got the better of him, and he clicked the link.

It’s just curiosity. Nothing else.

Seriously...

Despite his internal justification, Arlon found himself scrolling through the list, feeling both amused and exasperated by some of the players’ comments.
