The moment they stepped inside, the suffocating energy exploded like a coiled spring snapping loose.

"Are you out of your goddamn mind?" Raphael snapped, slamming the door behind him.
His strict tone echoed through the house, bouncing off the walls like the ringing of a bell after a knockout punch.
"What were you thinking, walking alone at night like that? Do you have a death wish?"
Ines, still seething, whirled around to face him.
Her hair was a mess, her wedding dress torn at the hem, but her pride was very much intact.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I must've forgotten to check in with my husband before making life choices. My mistake."
Raphael ran a hand through his hair, breathing heavily.
"Damn right, it's your mistake. You don't get to do reckless shit like this. Not when you have me."
She let out a bitter laugh.
"Oh, right. Because you're my knight in shining armor? Please. You don't give a damn about me. If you did, you wouldn't have humiliated me, you wouldn't have attacked me, and you sure as hell wouldn't be playing some secret little game with my father!"
His jaw clenched. "I told you not to get involved in my business."
"And I told you to stop acting like you own me," she yelled back.
"Oh, wait! That's right! You do. Because apparently, I'm your wife now, and I don't get a say in anything."
Raphael's eyes darkened.
He took a slow step forward, his tone again dropped to a low register.
"That's right. You're my wife. And there will be no divorce. No annulment. No running away in the middle of the night like some rebellious teenager."
Ines glared at him, fists clenched. "You can't just decide that for me."
He scoffed.
"You think the world works like that? Like you can just walk away and start over whenever you feel like it?"
"Yes!" she shouted. "Because that's what normal people do when they realise they've made a mistake."
"Then maybe you should've thought about that before you dragged me into this mess." Raphael's tone was as sharp as razor, slicing through their house.
"I told you I wasn't doing this for money. But you? You ran into this marriage like it was some kind of shield. Like I was just another thing you could use to piss off your father."
Her breath caught. She hated how right he was.
But she hated him more for throwing it in her face.
"You don't understand," she whispered.
He shook his head. "I understand more than you think. I know what it's like to have power stripped away. To be nothing in the eyes of the people who are supposed to protect you."
Raphael locked his eyes onto hers, burning with something like sub.
"And I know that people like your father? They think their money makes them invincible. But in a ring, none of that matters. There are no trust funds. No boardroom meetings. Just fists and grit. And when you strip people of their privilege, they become nothing."
A heavy silence settled between them.
Ines swallowed hard. "So that's why you attacked me? To prove a point?"
Raphael didn't look away.
"I wanted you to see what it's like to be powerless. Because that's what your father does to people every damn day."
Her chest tightened. "And what about me?"
"What about you?"
Inea breathed in, dramatically.
"Am I just some symbol to you? Some experiment? A way to get back at my father?"
Raphael didn't dare to look away.
"You're my wife."
She laughed coldly. "That's not an answer."
He took a step closer. "It's the only answer that matters."
Ines shook her head, anger bubbled beneath her skin. "You're unbelievable."
He crossed his arms. "And you're ungrateful."
"Oh, I'm sorry for not falling at your feet in gratitude for treating me like a goddamn puppet."
"I didn't say that."
"You implied it."
His eyebrows lowered and eyes darkened.
"What I meant was that you don't have to worry about your father's threats. About your finances. About anything. I'll take care of it."
She froze. "What?"
"You heard me." He held her look in his eyes like a portrait. "You might not like it, but you're my responsibility now."
Her lip curled. "I don't need you to take care of me."
"Yeah?" Raphael let out a bitter laugh. "Because you've been doing such an amazing job on your own?"
She clenched her fists, ready to punch him again.
But this time, there was something else hiding behind her rage.
Something dangerously close to vulnerability.
"Go to hell," she muttered.
He smirked. "You first, wife."
"I'm not your responsibility, so don't need to worry about me..."
"Of course, you're not my responsibility. I phrased it wrong. You're my partner-my wife. So, I will take care of you for the rest of my life. And you're not granted any divorce!"
"Why are you so-"
"Your husband."
"Selfish."
"Selfish people get what they want, Ines...and I want you."
