Chapter 36: Chapter 34: Seducing a Married Man

Recalling the earlier scene, Mia Grant’s eyes grew cold.

The memories were so vivid they were impossible to forget.

It was one thing to not want a direct confrontation, but now that it had happened, she didn’t really care.

’She didn’t even care about the male leads, so why would she be afraid of someone like Serena Grant?’

’Aren’t those male leads much more difficult to handle than her?’

Their eyes met. Mia didn’t look away. Instead, she curled her lips and offered Serena Grant a smile.

The next second, Serena Grant reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She snatched her bag from the table, shoved aside the person in her way, and strode out without a backward glance.

"Hey? Serena! Serena, where are you going...?" her friend called out, chasing after her.

Mia Grant raised an eyebrow. ’Seriously? She’s already mad?’

’I’m not the one bothered by this, but she’s already acting all disgusted.’

’What, does she own this school or something? Is she the only one allowed to attend, and I’m not?’

’Tch.’

A pen suddenly entered her field of vision. Mia Grant’s gaze followed it to the hand that held it, and then to its owner.

Felix Sinclair had picked it up for her a moment ago, but she hadn’t taken it.

’The thought of him being all flirty with me before, only to turn around and start relentlessly chasing Serena Grant... Ugh, what a scumbag.’

’So he likes Serena Grant now, is that it?’

’Why didn’t he say he liked Serena Grant when he was forcing a kiss on me?’

’Oh, was he afraid I’d slap him if he said that while forcing a kiss?’

Mia Grant sneered inwardly and snatched her pen back. "Thanks!"

"..."

Felix Sinclair didn’t know what had just happened. It seemed like in a single instant, the way she looked at him had turned sharp.

"What’s wrong?" Ever the good student, Felix Sinclair lived by the principle of asking when you don’t understand.

Just then, the professor came in and began the lecture.

Mia Grant didn’t spare him a single glance. She slammed her book onto the desk and flipped it open forcefully. The rustling of the pages, SHH-SHH, was as loud as a series of slaps across Felix Sinclair’s face.

"Mia."

He called her name softly, but she pretended not to hear, turning her body slightly so her back was to him.

All signs pointed to one thing: she was angry.

Felix Sinclair was taken aback.

This was the first time he’d ever encountered a situation like this.

Mia Grant had never lost her temper with him before. In the past, she only ever showed this lively side of herself to Ian Sinclair.

With Ian Sinclair, she was always so alive.

She would cry, laugh, get angry, and act coy.

It made him jealous of Ian Sinclair every single moment.

Even though they had the exact same face, Ian Sinclair could always steal her attention so effortlessly.

When he and Ian Sinclair appeared together, her gaze toward him was always so dismissive.

Mia Grant truly didn’t want to deal with Felix Sinclair, but she was in no mood to study either.

Her roommate snuck a glance at Felix Sinclair. Seeing he wasn’t paying attention to them, she quickly leaned toward Mia Grant’s ear and whispered, hungry for gossip, "What’s going on?! Spill the beans! Now!"

Mia Grant shook her head.

"What’s your relationship? What’s the deal between you and Felix Sinclair?"

"What deal? We don’t know each other," Mia Grant said, instinctively distancing herself.

’The whole school knows Felix Sinclair is pursuing Serena Grant right now. The last thing she wanted was to wake up tomorrow and see her name on the front page of the campus forum, with a headline about her seducing Felix, a "taken man"...’

"You don’t know each other?" Her roommate was so shocked she couldn’t control her voice, which shot up several octaves.

Felix Sinclair’s hand paused over his laptop keyboard. A few seconds passed before it came down, striking a single key.

’I can’t believe my roommate is so loud.’ Mia Grant sucked in a breath and reflexively glanced back at Felix Sinclair.

The young man was staring intently at his laptop screen, diligently taking notes...

Four or five rows of the letter ’a’ had already filled the screen and were still rapidly multiplying.

Mia Grant drew in a sharp breath and hesitantly looked up, just above his head.

The corruption value was climbing steadily, just like the letters he was typing—

She felt her vision dim.

Sensing her stare, Felix Sinclair finally lifted his fingers from the keyboard. He paused, then silently pressed the delete key.

At the front of the room, the professor was still lecturing, but Felix Sinclair couldn’t hear a single word.

He tried to fix his notes, but found he had no idea where to even begin.

The blood flow to his heart seemed to slow, and his hands began to tremble as if starved of it.

A wave of anxiety washed over him from out of nowhere. Within seconds, it spread through his entire body like thorns, winding tightly around him, squeezing his organs and stealing his breath.

Cold sweat trickled down his skin. His face was pale, and his breathing grew rapid and uneven.

Mia Grant didn’t notice. She was too busy kicking herself for misspeaking. ’The corruption value had finally gone down, and now it’s shot right back up.’

’Did I get forcibly kissed for nothing, then?’

’What a mess.’

Logically, she should probably try to smooth things over with Felix Sinclair, but she didn’t want to.

But if she didn’t, she was afraid the situation would become irreversible.

Ugh. Mia Grant heaved a heavy sigh.

’These princelings are so hard to please. One wrong word and they fly off the handle.’

’Sometimes I really just want to give up.’

’Instead of forcing myself, why not just cut myself some slack?’

’Instead of trying to please these male leads, I’d rather go dig wells in Afrion.’

While Mia Grant was busy lamenting her fate, a dull THUD sounded beside her.

Instantly, everyone in the classroom turned to look at her row.

The professor stopped his lecture, frowning as he adjusted his glasses. "What’s going on?"

Mia Grant was stunned too. She looked to her side and saw Felix Sinclair, his face deathly pale, unsteadily getting to his feet. "Sorry, Professor. I’m not feeling well. I need to go to the infirmary."

"Yes, yes, of course. The student next to him, give him a hand! Get him there quickly!"

"Me?" Mia Grant froze for a second, but her body moved faster than her brain. She was already on her feet, steadying Felix Sinclair.

Mia Grant, genuinely worried something was wrong, didn’t dare to hesitate. She supported him as she walked briskly out the door.

’When I read the original novel, I focused on the whole imprisonment plot. I never paid attention to whether Felix Sinclair had some kind of hidden medical condition.’

’After transmigrating, I never noticed anything wrong with Felix Sinclair’s health either.’

’But he really did look unwell right now; he wasn’t faking it.’

’I feel like if I let go, Felix Sinclair will collapse, start convulsing, and die right here.’

As she thought this, Mia Grant broke out in a cold sweat herself. "Buddy, you have to hang in there! Don’t you dare die on me!"

"Ah, no, I mean, we can talk this out! Just don’t die!"

’I’m just a temp worker in this novel world; I don’t want to have a death on my conscience!’

"Felix? Felix, are you okay? Say something!"

"Maybe I should just take you to the hospital."

’In his condition, I doubt the school infirmary, with its probably expired medicine, can do anything.’

"N-No need," Felix Sinclair said, grabbing her hand. "The infirmary."

Ten minutes later, in the infirmary, Felix Sinclair was lying on a bed with an oxygen mask on.

The doctor said it was respiratory alkalosis caused by anxiety. That, combined with low blood sugar, was why it was so severe.

Mia Grant, feeling a pang of guilt, offered to stay and look after him, but Felix Sinclair, contrary to his usual behavior, urged her to leave.

"No, no, it’s fine. I should stay."

He said, "Ian Sinclair is on his way."

"..." Mia Grant bolted.

After the afternoon break, she found a time when she was sure Ian Sinclair wouldn’t be around and went to check on Felix Sinclair.

The way to the infirmary led past the academic building, and along the way, Mia Grant ran into many students heading to class.

For some reason, every single one of them looked at her with a hint of disdain.
