"Now that I think about it..."

As I sat on the porch of the Wise Man's house, staring at the lush fields, I reflected on the past week. Everything still felt surreal—the weapons, the field of miraculous crops, and my absurd titles. The [Otherworlder] title alone made leveling feel like a cheat code, but [Person Who Visited A Different World For The First Time]? That was on a whole other level.

Thanks to it, my BP gain per level was ten times higher than that of the native inhabitants. Even other Earthlings would only get five times the boost. The difference was staggering. It made me wonder how anyone else could even catch up. The Wise Man's artifacts and the crops had certainly played a role in my rapid growth, but I was starting to understand that these titles were the true game-changers.

What made them even more ridiculous was that they worked in my world as well. [Appraisal] let me instantly pick the freshest vegetables at the supermarket, and [Language Comprehension] turned me into a polyglot overnight. Even my Earth schoolwork had become laughably easy.

Still, after consuming so much stat-boosting food, I finally hit a plateau. No matter how many [Super Power Tomatoes] or [Godspeed Potatoes] I devoured, my stats remained the same. It seemed there was a cap to how much food could enhance my strength. Not that I minded—it was still delicious. Even the [Hell Slime Jelly] I looted tasted exactly like coffee jelly, which was a pleasant surprise.

But as satisfying as this newfound power was, my thoughts kept drifting back to school. With the new academic year around the corner, anxiety gnawed at me. I was supposed to become a high school student, but I couldn't imagine facing the same people who bullied me before. The very thought made my stomach churn.

"Sigh... I don't want it."

I muttered to myself. Still, I knew I had no choice. Even if I wanted to abandon school and explore this world forever, I couldn't say that aloud.

To clear my mind, I decided to visit the uniform shop to replace my old, ill-fitting uniform. Fortunately, the store was nearly empty, and I didn't run into anyone I knew. But even as I shopped, I could feel the shop attendants staring at me. For a moment, I worried my fly was open or something, but when I caught my reflection, I realized why—they were staring at me. My appearance had subtly but unmistakably changed.

I was taller, leaner, and my features were sharper. My body had become refined from my rapid leveling and stat increases. Even my once unremarkable face now had a certain refined elegance, courtesy of the Wise Man's magic-infused body enhancement gear.

After finishing my errands, I returned home and made a firm decision:

"Today... I'll explore beyond the fence."

The forest was undoubtedly dangerous—Bloody Ogres and Hell Slimes roamed the area, and who knew what else was out there. But my curiosity had finally overtaken my fear. I was no longer the weak, cowering version of myself. The level-ups and combat experience had bolstered my confidence.

I equipped the [Bloody War Demon Series] armor set—the [Blood War Demon's Body Armor] and [Gauntlet]—along with the Wise Man's cloak. The equipment fit me perfectly, as if it had been tailored for me.

"Whoa... this is actually pretty badass."

My heart pounded with excitement. The crimson-and-black armor exuded an intimidating aura, and the cloak fluttered ominously behind me. It was hard not to feel cool. Just in case, I stuffed several [Complete Cure Herbs] into my [Item Box]. Unless I was instantly killed, I could heal from nearly any wound.

Standing at the edge of the fence, I gripped the [Absolute Spear] tightly.

"Weapon? Check. Armor? Check. Recovery herbs? Check. Let's do this."

I took a deep breath, bracing myself, and then stepped beyond the protective barrier.

"Ah..."

I made it. Completely.

The forest beyond was the same as I had seen through the fence, but it felt more vibrant now that I was walking through it. The leaves, unfamiliar and exotic, shimmered in strange hues, and glowing flowers blinked softly among the underbrush. This was no ordinary forest—it was mystical, teeming with mana.

I walked cautiously, gripping my spear, and taking in the fantastical scenery. But then, my [Presence Detection] skill flared, alerting me.

"...Something's nearby."

My breath caught as I quietly approached the source. Peering through the foliage, I spotted a green-skinned creature—child-like in stature but armed with a crude sword. Its sharp eyes, hooked nose, and jagged teeth gave it a menacing look.

"Is that... a goblin?"

I activated [Appraisal].

[Goblin Elite]

Level: 120

Magic: 100

Attack: 1500

Defense: 1000

Agility: 1500

Intelligence: 100

Luck: 100

"...An elite goblin, huh?"

Its level was close to mine, but my stats were superior. I was confident I could win. But still, I hesitated. Was it truly an enemy? Unlike the Bloody Ogre and Hell Slime, it hadn't shown any hostility. Maybe it was part of some symbiotic society with humans?

I decided to quietly back away.

Snap!

My foot pressed down on a twig, producing a sharp crack. The goblin's ears twitched, and its eyes locked onto mine.

"Oh... cool. Our eyes met."

For a brief moment, we stared at each other in silence. Desperately, I forced an awkward smile and tried to wave amicably.

"H-hey!"

The goblin bared its teeth and snarled in its guttural language.

"Right. Of course."

Without warning, the Goblin Elite lunged at me, sword raised.

In the past, I would have frozen or fallen on my butt. But not now. My reflexes had improved, and I could see its movements clearly. I calmly sidestepped the goblin's charge, leaving it stunned by my speed.

It growled angrily and swung its sword again. This time, I didn't dodge—I retaliated.

"Twist and thrust."

Following the technique I had read in the martial arts book, I rotated my torso with the motion, channeling the full force of my body into the [Absolute Spear]. The moment I struck, the weapon released a spiraling wind, drilling through the goblin's skull.

"Guh...?!"

The goblin's head exploded in a shower of gore, reduced to light particles. Its headless body staggered backward, spraying blood, before it too dissolved into light.

I stood still, gripping my spear tightly. The feeling of taking a life with my own hands settled heavily in my chest, but strangely, I wasn't overwhelmed.

My hands weren't shaking. My breath was steady. My instincts accepted the battle—it was kill or be killed. I was adapting.

I glanced at the loot left behind.

[Magic Stone: Rank D]

[High-Grade Demon's Fang]

[High-Grade Demon's Skin]

"Ugh... disgusting."

I tossed the items into my [Item Box] without a second glance. The skin was especially nauseating, but it might be valuable later.

"Hmm... no level-up."

It made sense. The goblin's level was close to mine, so defeating it wasn't enough for a substantial boost. Still, the combat practice was worth it. Facing a real enemy allowed me to sharpen my techniques far more than practicing alone ever could.

Gripping my spear with renewed confidence, I glanced deeper into the forest.

"Alright... should I keep exploring?"

With every step I took, I could feel it—I was changing. This world wasn't just my escape. It was becoming my new reality.
