I Got A Title: Lord Of The Time!-Chapter 45: The Hell
Chapter 45: The Hell
Hundreds of teenagers were in complete panic, some of them facing such a situation for the first time — Gates appearing right next to them and unleashing utter chaos they were completely unprepared for!
All around the perimeter of the cafeteria, more than a dozen different Red Gates appeared. Each of them varied in size, appearance, and behavior!
Upon emerging, many of the Gates immediately began to create a chaotic scene, using their tentacles to slaughter hundreds of unprepared teenagers who hadn’t yet fully realized what was happening!
A girl stared blankly at one of the Red Gates and muttered to herself that none of this was real and that the teachers would surely come and save her soon — but in the next second, a red tentacle flew down from above and turned her into ketchup sauce.
Bam!
"AAAH!!" screamed a boy as red tentacles grabbed him and tore him to pieces, scattering his organs and blood everywhere!
"You bastard!!!" another boy shouted, having just witnessed his friend’s gruesome death. He activated his ability and summoned a dozen spears from the ground, which he hurled one after another at the red tentacles!
The tentacles simply swatted the spears away, grabbed the boy, and slammed him into the floor with full force!
Bang!
Cracks webbed across the ground, and the boy was instantly killed, reduced to a large pool of blood...
Other students also began to actively use their abilities against the red tentacles: the air filled with a chaotic palette of colors from their skills.
You could see fire trying to burn the tentacles — but it failed. Water flew at incredible speed, capable of piercing iron — but it didn’t work either. Even lava appeared, which they tried to use to seal the Red Gates — but they were defeated!
Hundreds of students were doing everything they could to avoid being caught by the Red Gates. During this time, many showed their true faces: those once considered friends suddenly became the kind who would push you aside at any opportunity to avoid being caught by the red tentacles that would kill them!
"You bastard!!! I thought you were a true friend, and you betrayed me!! You chose some girl over your best friend of ten years!!" one of the boys roared, watching as his friend chose some random girl instead of him!
"Shit! Shit! Shit! I don’t want to die!.. No!! Please!! Someone help me!! Please!!" Red tentacles slowly lifted him up as he cried for help from others, but no one cared about another doomed teenager.
"I’ll save you!" a girl appeared out of nowhere, raised her sword, and activated her skill — one that boosted her strength tenfold for only three seconds!
Whoosh!
Boom!
Thanks to the tenfold boost and the fact that she had entered into Contact with her weapon, she instantly slashed through the red tentacles and freed the boy!
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I owe you!" the boy cried and hugged the girl, who smiled back and tried to comfort him.
A few seconds later, the boy looked at the girl and instantly fell in love — realizing this was someone he could spend his whole life with. He wanted to say something, when suddenly he felt something tightly grip his leg. Looking down, he saw red tentacles emerging from the ground, wrapping around his and the girl’s legs...
The girl reacted instantly and tried to activate her skill again, but before she could swing her sword, the tentacles pulled them both underground!
And since they were just ordinary people without strong bodies, they turned into a pool of blood and organs...
Scenes like this played out everywhere. Hundreds of people died horrific deaths because of the Gates — and many more because of the selfishness of others who had no real desire to save just anyone.
Often, guys would rush to help beautiful girls who had no means of escape. They would play the hero, saving the "princess from the castle," using all their strength to do so — even if it meant sacrificing others.
Many boys were abandoned by such "heroes," all for the first pretty face that passed by. But what could be done? In this chaotic scene, everyone was trying to survive with their abilities. Trusting others in such a situation was a foolish choice — unless you had a bond stronger than steel, and those were rare.
This situation revealed the true demons — but also opened the path to new angels.
...
Lin’s group dodged the red tentacles. Suddenly, another tentacle appeared in Lin’s path, aimed straight for his head!
"Dodge!" Lin warned Egro and Yulan and, with a swift, perfected motion, drew his katana and tried to parry the tentacle!
Chzzz!
The katana barely managed to deflect the tentacle, redirecting it away from Lin’s head and into the broken floor beside him.
Boom!
The tentacle slammed into the ground, making a loud sound that could momentarily paralyze a normal person — but to Lin, it posed no real threat. He ran in another direction, trying to lose the tentacles!
"Yulan, use your skill!" Lin shouted, picking up speed to escape the red tentacles.
Yulan, running off to the side, nodded, pointed her finger at the red tentacles, and activated her ability: "Charge"!
In an instant, small bolts of lightning shot from her fingers and flew toward the red tentacles!
When they hit, they stunned the tentacles for five seconds, forcing them into a frozen position!
Yulan suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach and nearly vomited on the spot, but quickly looked up and took deep breaths to fight the feeling.
"Th-this is my Price..." Yulan whispered and leaned on Egro’s shoulder.
"We have to find a way out of here. These Gates will soon start releasing waves of Distorted creatures." Lin looked at Egro and said.
"Let’s run from these tentacles first," said Egro.
Lin nodded and took Yulan onto one shoulder, while Egro took the other. The three of them covered a significant distance before encountering Silia ahead — she was helping a few people and explaining something to others.
Lin frowned and approached her, saying:
"We need to join forces, or we’ll die."
Silia frowned and looked at Lin and his group, seeing Egro and Yulan — who looked like she could vomit at any moment. She nodded to Lin and gently said:
"I’m always willing to cooperate if it means better chances for survival and saving people."
Lin nodded.
Even though he didn’t want to cooperate with his sister, the situation had reached a point where he had no choice — teaming up was the only way to increase the odds of survival. After all, his life was more valuable than his reluctance to cooperate.
He knew how to prioritize in dangerous situations.
"Soon these Gates will release countless Distorted creatures. We need to get out of here before it’s too late. Why don’t you cut through the Red Gates with your rapier? Doesn’t it cut through ice easily? With your ability — it’s the perfect combo." Lin said to Silia.
Silia shook her head and pointed at the Gates.
"I already thought about that, but within five meters of the Gates it’s so dangerous that you can get killed instantly. And no amount of ice will help with that."
"And what are we supposed to do then?" Egro asked.
"I have an idea," Lin said.
Everyone turned to him, waiting for an answer. Lin sighed and proposed:
"Using my skill, I can instantly accelerate and reach incredible speeds. Silia and I will head toward one of the Gates — the least active one. When we reach a certain distance, I’ll activate my skill and carry Silia. In that moment, try to delay the activation of your skill as much as possible so that during the burst of speed, you can instantly freeze the Red Gate!"
"Then, once my skill deactivates, you’ll easily be able to cut through the Gate and open us a path to freedom," Lin finished quickly.
Silia frowned when she heard Lin’s plan — not because she didn’t trust him, but because he would have to pick her up and carry her somewhere.
"But he’s my brother... What’s the big deal..." Silia blushed slightly and nodded to Lin.
"Alright, I agree, but you have to do it fast!"
Lin just nodded and pointed at a three-meter Red Gate, saying:
"We need to go to that Gate since it’s the smallest of all."
Silia nodded and looked around at a few people, warning them:
"Lin and I are about to go on a dangerous mission to try and break through one of the Gates! Stay quiet and don’t go anywhere!" She turned to Lin and immediately ran toward the Gate.
Lin didn’t lag behind and quickly caught up with her. Along the way, several red tentacles attacked, trying to kill them, but Silia swiftly destroyed them. When they reached the Gate, dozens of tentacles shot out from the ground, from above, and from the sides. If an unprepared person were here, they would’ve been torn to shreds instantly.
With no way to dodge the tentacles, Silia said:
"Activate your skill already! We can’t get through much further!" As she said that, she instantly activated her skill and stretched her arm forward!
Lin smiled and used his skill: "Slow Motion Perception."
Everything within five meters of Lin slowed down. Dozens of tentacles that had targeted him practically froze, but he himself remained calm, unaffected by the slowed time.
He grabbed Silia by the waist and lifted her, carefully weaving through the tentacles and approaching the Red Gate. Unfortunately, his five-meter zone didn’t quite reach the Gate, so it remained outside the effect.
"Have to be careful..."
He slowly stretched Silia’s hand outside the zone and tried to make her touch the Gate, when suddenly a massive lion’s head burst out of the portal!
"Damn it!"
Lin yanked Silia’s hand back into the slowed zone, but it didn’t matter — the skill had already ended!
"I have to do something, or I’ll die here!" In a last-second decision, Lin turned Silia’s body and had her touch the nearest red tentacle!
Bang!
The skill’s effect ended, and the lion emerging from the portal immediately pounced on the stunned Lin!
Silia didn’t quite understand what was happening either. She had just touched the tentacle, which instantly turned into a block of ice. Seeing Lin’s and the lion’s shocked expressions, she realized nothing had worked out as intended.
She sighed, quickly regained focus, and began slicing through the red tentacles. In nearly an instant, she killed the lion and pulled Lin out. She slapped him a few times and brought him back to his senses.
"Time to go," she said quickly, and Lin followed her.
When they returned to the group, they saw fear written all over their faces.
"No time to explain. We need to retreat to those Gates!" Silia shouted and pointed at a ten-meter Red Gate from which no wave of creatures had emerged.
"As I understand, that Gate leads to a Broken Distortion, which means we’ll end up in a random location in the Magic World! We don’t have any other options! And the teachers aren’t here either!"
Everyone nodded and rushed toward the Gate Silia pointed to. Meanwhile, from all the other Gates, countless Distorted creatures were advancing, killing everything in their path.
Silia noticed Royal had already entered the same Gate they were heading for and thought:
"So he couldn’t handle it either..."
The group stopped for a moment and looked back — they saw the Distorted creatures coming at them with murderous intent, ready to rip apart every last piece of them.
"See you on the other side," Lin said without drama and quickly stepped into the Gate.
"I’m coming too," said Egro, and stepped in.
"I’m right behind!" Yulan followed them.
Silia sighed and entered as well, along with the rest of the group.
A while later, a dark figure also stepped into the Gate, muttering:
"Who would’ve thought these Gates could sense death..."
The figure disappeared too.
The chaos was over.
