I Got A Title: Lord Of The Time!-Chapter 57: Quick fight against Beetle
Chapter 57: Quick fight against Beetle
"Well, what do you say? Care to tell me what you saw?" Aran asked Lin with great interest, while Lin stared into a single spot and didn’t respond.
Lin slowly closed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh. When he opened them again, they looked like before. He slowly got more comfortable and began his story:
"I suddenly woke up and saw a big campfire here, where you, Royal, Silia, Yulan, and Egro were sitting and discussing something."
Aran smiled, folded his arms across his chest, and continued listening to Lin.
"I came out, and we all started talking about something, and you were cooking a lot of meat over the fire... In short, the meat turned out to be human, and in a rage, I started beating you and killed you..." Lin slowly finished his story and looked at Wed’s corpse, whose head had been replaced by a bloody puddle mixed with brain matter.
His hands were also covered in blood, and a few drops were still slowly dripping from them.
"That’s quite... unusual. Your hallucinations were much more interesting than mine..."
Lin looked at Aran and asked:
"And what did you see? That you finally became normal?"
"Ha-ha-ha! Lin, your words sting like needles. But no, actually," he snapped his fingers and continued, "we had a fight. You and I — we fought with a brutality that’s hard to imagine."
Lin became intrigued and smirked.
"And who won?"
"Take a guess."
Lin snorted and stood up, lifting Wed’s body and setting it down near a tree. Then he walked toward the place where he had originally slept.
"You," came Aran’s voice.
"You killed me so viciously that even I, for a moment, wondered which of us is the real demon: you or me? The fight was interesting, until I later realized that the whole time, I had just been lying on a tree. Ha-ha-ha!"
Lin simply smiled and kept walking.
...
The next day, Lin and Aran, just as they agreed, moved forward. They walked through a dense forest filled with berries, but now, having learned the hard way what could happen if they tried them, they didn’t touch any.
"Do you think we’ll meet someone else along the way? We’re not the only geniuses who figured going forward might be better than going right or left, where Fort Posts might be," Aran slowly asked Lin.
Lin nodded and speculated:
"It all depends on where in the Magic World a person appeared. But if we assume there are people who ended up in our situation, then it’s highly unlikely they chose to go forward rather than right or left."
"So the chances of meeting someone along the way are very small — or nearly impossible."
"Good point," Aran nodded and asked:
"Yeah, the road will definitely be long, and since we’re in the Dead Lands, where Distorted creatures outnumber normal ones by a lot... I’m surprised we haven’t encountered anything yet..."
"After your words, something’s definitely about to happen." Lin looked around and stayed alert to immediately notice anything unusual.
And just as he expected, a few minutes after Aran’s remark about the lack of danger, a giant beetle the size of a car appeared!
"You shouldn’t have said that." Lin looked at the large black beetle, which resembled a tank, and wished to see its stats:
[Distorted Creature: Spreader of Pain.]
[Rank: Beast.]
[Abilities:
— "Pain Spreading (Lvl. 2)".]
[Description: The Spreader of Pain is a large, several-meter-long black beetle that loves to spread its gases. They’re dangerous when their skill is active, but without it, they’re easy to defeat!]
Lin was slightly surprised to see that the beetle had a skill. He immediately wished to inspect it:
[Skill Name: Pain Spreading.]
[Skill Type: Passive.]
[Description: When the beetle feels fear, a black cloud appears around it, which is highly infectious to ordinary beings.]
After reading everything about the beetle, Lin turned to Aran and realized that he had read it all too. Lin didn’t say anything, just nodded, drew his katana, and pointed it at the beetle.
Aran laughed and quickly said:
"Keep it distracted, I’ll use my skill and kill it from behind." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"Suit yourself," Lin nodded and ran at the black beetle.
Almost instantly closing the distance, Lin gripped his katana with both hands and made a horizontal slash from the left!
Whoosh!
Clang!
The beetle’s black carapace was quite durable, so Lin’s katana only managed to cut twenty centimeters deep. But that wasn’t the limit of Lin’s power — this was only the beginning!
Lin lifted his knee and struck the beetle’s head!
Bam!
A dull metallic thud was heard. Although the beetle’s head jolted back a bit, the pain Lin felt was intense!
"Better not to kick it..."
The beetle roared and opened its mouth, trying to bite off Lin’s legs, but to its surprise, they vanished!
It looked around and noticed the human was trying to cut off its legs!
Whoosh!
Lin slashed, and his blade sliced clean through one of the beetle’s legs!
"Aaarrgh!!" it roared in pain and turned to kill Lin, but he had already vanished and reappeared by another leg!
Whoosh!
Another leg of the black beetle was severed!
Lin vanished again and appeared near yet another leg and sliced through it again!
Whoosh!
Yet another leg was cut!
Lin severed every leg of the black beetle at such speed that even the beetle itself could hardly understand what was happening!
Since the beetle began to feel slight fear, small puffs of black gas began to appear around it — which, according to the Title System, were very dangerous!
Lin backed away from the beetle and waited for Aran’s sneak attack.
Right at that moment, a black silhouette appeared behind the beetle and, using a small dagger, instantly slashed open the beetle’s rear!
"Aaarrgh!!!" the beetle screamed in agony and tried to turn around, but felt even stronger pain!
Aran appeared in different spots where there was no black gas and kept attacking the beetle so it couldn’t react!
Soon, the black beetle was torn apart and died at Aran’s hands.
The black gas slowly faded until it disappeared from the surrounding air.
Aran smiled at Lin and asked:
"So, how were my attacks? Think you could’ve countered them?"
Lin nodded quietly and approached the corpse of the black beetle. He looked at Aran and asked the question he’d wanted to ask since the beginning of the fight:
"How do we divide loot if something drops from the beetle?"
Aran chuckled and gave a slight smile.
"That’s a good question. Let’s first see if there’s anything inside or not."
Lin nodded and began cutting open the beetle’s head — and found a purple crystal!
A Low Soul Shard!
Lin looked at Aran, and Aran looked back at him.
