I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl-Chapter 166 – Battle at the Gate of Lurien (II)
Chapter 166: Chapter 166 – Battle at the Gate of Lurien (II)
CLANK ! CLINK!! CLANK!!!
Chains of Abyss, Sylvia’s legendary black chains, wrapped violently around the almost-open Gate of Lurien. Dark energy surged rapidly from the chains, trying to close the shrinking gap. The clashing of metal and the resonance of dark magic rang out in the chilling silence that hung heavy for a moment.
Sylvia stood firm, both hands outstretched, controlling the chains with all her might. Cold sweat ran down her temples as she felt the sheer force from the underworld pulling through, trying to break free.
"Close, damn it... close!" she growled through gritted teeth.
CRRRKKK !!!
The gate kept shrinking, down to a mere slit. Just a little more and it would close. Sylvia summoned her final reserves of strength
BRRAAAAK !!!
The gate exploded open with a thunderous blast, and dark red energy burst forth like a tsunami.
"Ugh !" Sylvia was thrown backward, her body sliding several meters before she managed to stop herself by stabbing her chains into the ground.
The Avatar of the World floated beside her, face pale and eyes wide with panic. "They’re out... we’re too late."
From the now fully opened gate, terrifying creatures emerged like a plague. Tens of thousands of demons from the underworld poured out. Their forms were monstrous some crawled with twisted limbs, others bore long fangs, black wings, horns, and grotesque grinning faces. The air was instantly filled with their roars.
GRRAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
The entire battlefield fell into stunned silence. Even Arwen froze, his face drained of color as he beheld the sight, so different from what the church had promised him.
"N-no way..." Arwen whispered weakly, his sword trembling in his hand. "Weren’t they supposed to be saviors? This... this can’t be real..."
But the reality in front of him was undeniable. The demons attacked indiscriminately zombies, humans, it made no difference to them.
CRUNCH! SHHHRRKK!!!
Flesh was torn, blood splattered. Sylvia’s undead, only numbering in the thousands, began to fall, overwhelmed by the wave of tens of thousands of demons spreading across the land like a tide of death.
Sylvia stood quickly, yanking her chains back and shouted with force:
"Advance! Hold them back with everything you’ve got!"
Her zombies rose again and charged without hesitation. Sylvia knew it was hopeless, but there was no other choice.
Elsewhere on the battlefield, Celes fought to fend off the creatures closing in on her. Her long blade moved swiftly like a silver shadow, decapitating several demons in one fluid motion.
SWOOSH SLASH!!!!
"Celes! Get out of here!" Sylvia’s voice echoed telepathically, this time firm and laced with concern. "You can teleport save yourself!"
But Celes shook her head fiercely, not even turning to look. "No. I won’t leave. I’ll fight at your side!"
CLANG!!!
Suddenly, a horned demon lunged at Celes with a massive axe. She instinctively raised her sword. The blow sent it vibrating violently, nearly flying from her grip.
"Guh!" Celes was thrown back a few steps, struggling to regain balance. Her hands trembled but her resolve only grew stronger.
She attacked again, this time channeling spatial energy she’d struggled to master.
"Slice!" she shouted.
SZZRRRT!!!
For the first time, her slash tore through space, creating a small dimensional rift that sucked the demon into nothingness.
"It worked!" she gasped, then immediately continued using the technique, summoning small spatial vortexes all around her.
Elsewhere, Aurelia finally unleashed her full power. Flames erupted wildly from her, creating waves of fire that engulfed approaching demons.
FWOOOOSH CRACKLE!
"I won’t run anymore!" she shouted firmly, her brown eyes burning with fury and determination.
On the heroes’ side, Sena spun her scythe-spear with aggressive agility, cutting down dozens of demons.
SWISH SLASH!
"Arwen! Snap out of it and help us!" Sena screamed, frustrated as she saw their leader frozen in fear.
Riva attacked from the shadows, silently slicing through demons one after another with deadly precision.
SHLAAK !
Meanwhile, their new mage erected a water barrier, barely holding back the relentless assaults.
Arwen stepped back, his sword limp at his side, his eyes empty as he stared at the destruction around him. His lips quivered, repeating the same trembling words, "It’s not my fault... it’s not my fault..."
"Coward!" Sena screamed as Arwen turned and ran from the battlefield.
In the ever-worsening chaos, Sylvia unleashed her full might. Chains of Abyss danced wildly, slicing, piercing, and constricting with terrifying speed and precision. Every movement was elegant, brutal a deadly dance of steel and darkness.
WHOOSH CRASH! SLASH!
She also drew her rapier, a weapon she rarely used. With swift thrusts, she struck vital points on surrounding demons while chanting death magic at rapid pace.
"Decay Rain!" she roared, summoning a poisonous black rain that melted scores of demons instantly.
But the enemy tide grew even larger, pressing their defenses thinner. Sylvia felt extreme fatigue setting in, her breath growing heavy.
"Sylvia, it’s too much!" Celes called out, panting hard.
Sylvia clenched her teeth, aware that the situation was becoming hopeless. But she refused to give in.
"I won’t stop here!" she shouted, burning with determination.
BOOM!!!
Aurelia’s fire magic exploded, creating a temporary wall of flames to block the demons’ advance.
But then from within the gate emerged a towering four-horned demon, its dark red wings spread wide. Its eyes gleamed with dreadful malice, and its presence alone made the air feel heavy.
The creature smiled cruelly.
"Finally... this world is ours again."
Sylvia stood tall, her chains converging around her, ready to fight even knowing the odds were against her.
"If this is the end," Sylvia muttered, eyes fierce with resolve, "then I’ll make sure you’re buried with us!"
The air was filled with endless roars, hopeless screams, and the clash of magic and steel. Sylvia tightened her grip on Chains of Abyss, the black links clinking menacingly as they faced the horde.
GRUAAAAHHHHH!!!
The demons’ roar shook the battlefield, deafening all.
Sylvia surveyed the scene. Her elite zombies fought valiantly but dwindled fast, their bodies shattered and crushed by the ceaseless tide.
"Death Aura!" Sylvia cried. A thick black mist cloaked her body and spread in a wide radius.
Shhhrkkkk!!!
Demons caught in the mist screamed as their flesh corroded like rusted metal but there were too many. Sylvia gritted her teeth, gasping for breath from overusing large-scale magic.
"Celes! Aurelia! Stay close to me!" Sylvia commanded with sharp urgency.
Celes dashed toward her, sword spinning in arcs that tore dimensional rifts, sucking demons into the void.
"Sylvia, they just keep coming!" she shouted, exhausted.
"I know!" Sylvia barked back, swinging her chain hard and cleaving through rows of demons.
CRAASHHH!!!
Behind her, Aurelia raised her staff, her red eyes glowing, flames surging around her.
"Flamestorm!" she roared.
FWOOOSH BOOMMM!!!
A red blaze engulfed hundreds of demons but more kept coming. Bloodied and desperate, Aurelia bit her lip, tears forming.
"It’ll never end...!" she screamed in despair.
On the other side, Sena struggled to stay on her feet, slashing with trembling arms and wobbling legs.
"Damn it, Arwen you coward!" she cursed, stabbing a demon inches from her face.
Behind her, Riva moved silently, but even her shadows started to wane.
"Riva, we have to retreat!" Sena cried.
"To where? We’re trapped!" Riva snapped lowly, fear in her eyes.
Sylvia realized things were getting worse. Her strength was nearly gone. Blood soaked her her own, and the demons’. Fatigue slowly overtook her.
"If this keeps up... we won’t survive," she whispered.
But before she could decide what to do, the four-horned demon appeared right in front of her. Nearly three meters tall, its dark red wings spread threateningly, and its burning red eyes bore into Sylvia.
"You ! You’re the one who tried to close our gate," the demon growled, voice like rumbling thunder.
Sylvia stood unfazed, heart pounding under immense pressure.
"Yes. And I’ll do it again if I can!" she snapped, chains rattling menacingly.
The demon laughed a deep, earth-shaking sound.
"How amusing, little human. You think you can stop us? This world will be ours, and you’ll be nothing but ashes beneath my feet!"
Sylvia grinned challengingly, then dashed forward with lightning speed.
"Then let’s see who turns to ash!"
WHOOSH!!!
She spun her chains into a storm of black steel, striking from every angle.
CLANG!!! CLANG!!! BRRRRAKKK!!!
But the demon caught the chains barehanded, unmoved.
"Is that all you’ve got, Zombie Queen?" it sneered, gripping the chains and yanking hard.
"Ugh !" Sylvia was pulled forward, then lifted into the air.
"Celes !" she screamed. freewebnσvel.cøm
"Sylvia!" Celes yelled, rushing toward them but lesser demons blocked her path, forcing her to fight desperately.
In the demon’s grasp, Sylvia felt her body breaking, breath choking, vision blurring. Was this... the end?
"No... not yet..." she growled faintly.
Suddenly, a surge of power erupted inside her. Chains of Abyss glowed with a dark violet light, responding to Sylvia’s fierce will to survive.
She felt an explosion of dark energy unlike anything before.
"Final Form: UNIFICATION!" she shouted with the last of her strength.
BOOOOOMMMM!!!
A massive wave of black energy burst from Sylvia, throwing the demon back several meters with a furious snarl.
Sylvia landed on the ground, gasping, surrounded by writhing black aura. Her power had doubled but it would only last thirty seconds.
"Celes! Aurelia! Fall back now!" Sylvia commanded, her voice powerful, sending waves of energy across the field.
Both obeyed immediately. Sylvia stood alone to face the demon. Her red eyes burned with hatred and resolve.
"For the next thirty seconds... I’ll destroy as many of you as I can," she vowed coldly.
The demon laughed mockingly and stepped forward.
"Go ahead, little queen. Show me your will before you die."
Sylvia raised her chains high and shouted with every ounce of will she had left:
"I won’t die here! YOU will!"
WHOOSH!!!
With that, a new, more desperate and brutal clash exploded beneath the darkening sky as if the heavens themselves were watching the beginning of the end.
