I Got Reincarnated as the Game's Villain-Chapter 47: The Legacy of the Fallen [3][Edited]
[First Person POV: Melina]
"What do we do now?" asked Camila, looking as exhausted and frustrated as the rest of us. We had been running for miles—ever since the moment we arrived in this Legacy world—but the stupid thing chasing us wouldn’t give up. Luckily, its attention had been caught by some random teams we ran into. Humans and blood-sucking losers fighting each other—disgusting, honestly.
"Well, the first thing is that we definitely can’t stay here for too long," Larson said.
Larson... He was handsome, I guess. His green hair was similar to mine, though my shade was brighter—a vivid, emerald green. His, on the other hand, was a darker, leafier green, much like his eyes. He had the typical elven face, sharp and angular, which I supposed might be appealing to those disgusting human women who blushed every time they looked at him.
For me, though? Sure, he was handsome, but compared to the elven princes I’ve met? He was average at best, no probably a bit below. That’s not to say much, though, since by human standards, he might be the most attractive person alive. It just goes to show how superior we elves are to those pests who don’t know their place.
And though he won’t admit it, I know he has a crush on me.
Sigh.
I should probably start wearing makeup to tone down this beauty of mine, it’s becoming a hassle.

"That, for sure," I said, nodding in agreement with Larson.
Even though this cave seemed like a decent place to rest for the night, there was no telling what kind of nasty creature might call it home. If we happened to be here when it returned, well, that wouldn’t end well.
"All right, how about this," Linda suggested. "We take turns keeping watch. If anyone hears anything, we run at the first sign of trouble. But if we make it through the night, we can consider this place as a temporary base and scout for a better location in the morning."
I nodded.
That made sense.
Linda had red hair—a striking shade, really. Green hair was more uncommon than red, and could mostly be seen in nobles, but as I said, MOSTLY, as Camila, for instance, was a noble but didn’t have green hair like me. Linda’s red hair and matching eyes made her stand out, and I couldn’t deny that she was beautiful.
Not that she could compare to me.
However, while in the adventure guild back home, I had once had some idiots daring to compare her to me. I mean honestly, I’m on a whole different level.
Okay... Maybe I am a full-blown narcissist.
"Yeah, that makes sense," I added. "Besides, everyone is probably too exhausted to head back out there."
I certainly was. I’d burned through a considerable amount of mana just to keep myself going, and now I was running dangerously low.
"Are you guys sure? I don’t really think this is a good idea," Camila said, ever the pessimist, as she cast a wary glance around the cave.
Camila, as I mentioned before, doesn’t have green hair. Instead, her hair is a radiant, golden blonde that she flaunts effortlessly, often comparing it to mine. I can’t deny it though—she’s beautiful. But that doesn’t mean I will admit it, I WILL NEVER! Not in front of her at least.... Okay, fine, not when she can hear me. She’s probably in the same league as me, as I had even heard some males in the guild referring to us as goddesses. Not that it was news to me. Elves are usually breathtaking, but even among them, I’m something of an anomaly.
This beauty is, unfortunately, the only reason my family still values me. To them, I’m a bargaining chip to marry off to some nobleman and bolster their power. And really, who would reject an engagement with me? I mean, look at me.
...I think it’s getting worst.
"Lina!"
Camila’s voice jolted me from my musings. I turned to see her staring at me, concern etched into her features. "Are you okay? You seemed deep in thought," she asked.
"No… it’s nothing," I replied quickly, but her lips curled into a smirk.
Oh no. Please, not that smirk.
I braced myself.
"Don’t tell me you’re admiring your own looks even in a life-and-death situation?" she teased, and I nearly choked.
How does she always know?
"I’m not doing anything of the sort. I’m not that vain," I retorted with feigned seriousness, trying to deflect.
"Sure," she said, unimpressed. "But then why were you grinning like an idiot just now?"
Before I could answer, Linda joined the fray, flashing her disturbing grin.
This idiot! She’s always giving Linda more ammunition against me. And knowing her, she’s probably still scheming some petty revenge for what happened back in my room at the palace.
"Oh, so you’re not just a pervert with a downright disturbing fetish—you’re a narcissist too?" Linda declared loudly, and I instantly summoned massive wind lances, along with my bow and a quiver of arrows from my spatial ring.
If I don’t kill this girl today, I’ll never have peace.
"Come on, Lina. Don’t be so petty. Besides, you don’t want to alert any creepy creatures like the last one with all this noise, right?" Camila added, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Tsk," I clicked my tongue and begrudgingly sat back down, glaring at them both.
Anyway, all the compliments I’ve heard over the years weren’t usually directed at me—at least not outright. It’s always made to the beautiful flower of the Yemen family, "Princess Melina", which is me, but they don’t know that. I always hide behind my Veil of Deceit. Only Camila, Linda, and Larson have seen my real appearance in the adventurer’s guild, and that’s because I trust them.
Even now, I wasn’t wearing the veil.
I glanced at Larson. Though his face was composed, the flush of his ears and cheeks betrayed him. He couldn’t even meet my gaze.
Oh, he’s fallen for me, hasn’t he? Poor thing. He’s probably madly in love by now.
Hah. I’d rather not break a friend’s heart.
"Hey, focus on the discussion! I can already see that grin forming. Can’t you get your mind out of the gutter?" Linda’s voice snapped me back to reality.
I sighed.
"Lina! Hey, Lina! Stop! You’re going to strangle her!"
