Chapter 13: Luck Be by my Side

Adrian stayed in one of the three bedrooms of the condo as he had requested. The reason? He’ll spin a gacha and he doesn’t want to appear crazy in front of them.

With the door locked, there’d be no sudden interruption or intrusion. So he opened the system.

The faint blue interface shimmered into existence in front of him.

[Available Draws: 3]

"Three draws," he muttered.

He selected the first spin.

filled the silence of the room.

Then—

Ding.

The rewards began to appear one by one.

[Reward 8: Flashbang Grenades ×4]

[Reward 9: Portable Drone — Recon Type (Short-Range)]

[Reward 10: Spare Battery Pack ×2]

Adrian’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"Not bad for a personal loadout, but I’m going to take more than that."

What he meant was that he needed heavy firepower to break through the hordes of zombies in the Okada Hotel. And earlier, he saw there’s a lot of them on the grounds.

"Let’s try our next luck."

He focused on the interface again.

Before he could tap the normal draw option, a new prompt appeared.

[Special Spin Available]

Adrian frowned.

That hadn’t shown up before, or was told to him before.

[Special Spin: Unit Deployment Tier]

[Warning: Rewards will consist of personnel units only.]

[All deployed units are fully trained and equipped. Loyalty is fixed to host.]

[Proceed?]

Personnel.

What does that mean? Wait, does it mean that he could summon troops? Though he did remember that he could summon it from the introduction of the system. Well lucky him, just as he had hoped for a better spin the system answered it.

He selected YES.

The interface darkened. The usual spinning symbols were gone. Instead, a single rotating insignia appeared, a stylized eagle crest over crossed rifles.

Then. It dinged.

But this time, there weren’t ten lines.

There was one.

[Special Spin Activated]

A second later, more text appeared.

[All units are transferred to your inventory. You can summon them at any time you want.]

"Six special operation forces," Adrian repeated. He had watched Hollywood military movies before and he knew what they were capable of. With them with his side meant he doesn’t have to go alone in his ventures anymore, he could come with them and clear out threats quicker and safer than being alone.

Also, he had planned on giving Marco a gun when they’ll leave, and train him how to shoot. But that was not needed anymore, he has a team now.

Well, he couldn’t just summon them inside a room, that would cause unwanted confusion from the family. He needed to summon them away from this unit so it would look like they are just catching up.

But he’ll do that after this last spin.

"Okay, one last spin, please be as lucky."

"Okay, one last spin, please be as lucky."

He tapped the third draw.

The interface shifted back to the standard rotation. Symbols flashed across the translucent panel, cycling through silhouettes of vehicles, weapons, crates, equipment.

The spinning slowed.

Then, his favorite sound chimed.

Ding.

The spinning stopped.

The rewards appeared one by one.

Two JLTVs.

"Wait...I am getting lucky at this point. Yow system are you doing this?" Adrian said as he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Then there was a knock on the door.

"Sir Adrian...the meal is ready? Please come join us for dinner."

Adrian snapped back to his senses and looked to the door. The voice belonged to Marco, inviting him for dinner.

"I’d deal with this later," he whispered to himself and then shifted to his ordinary tone. "Coming!"
