Chapter 1300: Blood-Red Robe

Emperor Jun's expression grew cautious as he was unable to sense the figures hiding in the shadows. Since Big Brother told him that there were experts lurking in the dark, then they were definitely there.

The fact that he couldn't sense them meant one thing—those people were extremely powerful.

Who could they be? Emperor Jun frowned deeply.

Then, Ye Guan suddenly said, "One of them might be that woman."

"The Evil Dao?"

Ye Guan nodded with a dark face. "That woman is definitely here for me."

Emperor Jun gently patted Ye Guan's shoulder and said, "We're all here to help you."

Warmth spread throughout Ye Guan's chest. Although he had just sworn to be brothers with these people, he couldn't deny that he felt the warmth of a family from them.

Suddenly, Emperor Jun looked into the distance and called out, "Sixth Brother, come over here."

Ling Xiao's attack had wiped out even the Dao Defier Corpses, leaving the Upper God and the others with nothing to do.

The Upper God and the others walked over.

The Upper God smiled at Ye Guan.

Ye Guan grinned back at him.

"You already know Third Brother, Fifth Brother, Fourth Brother, Eighth Brother, and Seventh Brother, so I won't introduce them to you." Then, Emperor Jun turned to the man in black. "This is Sixth Brother. He's an expert in stealth and assassination."

Ye Guan looked at the man in black. He was thin, and his form was constantly shifting between solid and ethereal. He wore a half-iron mask, which revealed only part of his face.

Ye Guan quickly gave a slight bow and greeted, "Sixth Brother."

Sixth Brother stared at Ye Guan in silence.

Ye Guan felt a little confused. He sensed a faint hostility from Sixth Brother and questioned if it was just his imagination.

"Sixth Brother," Emperor Jun called out.

Sixth Brother withdrew his gaze. Then, he turned around and vanished.

Ye Guan looked at Emperor Jun, who frowned silently. Just then, Third Sister walked over and smiled. "Sixth Brother was raised as an assassin since his childhood. He's cold by nature. Don't overthink it."

"Alright," Ye Guan nodded.

Emperor Jun glanced at Third Sister, who nodded faintly before turning around to leave.

Slowly, Emperor Jun lifted his gaze to the shattered sky above, which had already become a vast void filled with endless Ancestral Dao power and sword light.

A trace of worry flickered in Emperor Jun's eyes. With his current strength, he couldn't keep up with Ling Xiao or the Ancestral Dao's movements.

After all, they were at the Dao Embodiment Realm, the highest realm in all Ten Tiers of Civilization. Although Emperor Jun was just half a step away from reaching that realm, that half-step was an insurmountable chasm.

Ye Guan stared at the void, and his right hand clenched tightly around his Qingxuan Sword. He could feel the immense gap between himself and the Ancestral Dao.

Just then, Little Pagoda remarked, "Stop overthinking. The gap between you and them isn't strange at all. How long have they been cultivating? And how long have you been cultivating?"

Ye Guan nodded slightly. "I understand."

"Great. While it's good to have ambitions, you shouldn't put too much pressure on yourself. Your father drove himself insane that way." After a brief pause, Little Pagoda added, "Kid, tell me. Do you really hate your father?"

Ye Guan shook his head.

"Really?" Little Pagoda asked.

Ye Guan chuckled and said, "What right do I have to hate him? I'm well aware that the reason I've made it this far wasn't that I'm a prodigy. I don't have the strengths and advantages that Big Brother, Second Brother, and Third Sister have.

"The only reason I managed to come this far at my age is due to pure luck. I have a great grandfather, a great father, and a great aunt. Without them, I wouldn't have made it out here in the big leagues."

Little Pagoda was silent.

Ye Guan continued, "I know what you mean, Master Pagoda. You think that my father was too hands-off with me. But I chose this path for myself. Since I, Ye Guan, have made this choice, I'll see it through, even if I have to crawl to the finish line."

"Don't worry, kid. I'll be with you. I've trained two invincible legends. I'll make sure that you become one of them as well."

"Hahaha!" Ye Guan burst out laughing. "Alright!"

Meanwhile, Third Sister approached Sixth Brother. She looked at him with a smile and asked, "What's wrong?"

Sixth Brother shook his head without saying a word.

"You're not fond of Little Nine?"

Sixth Brother nodded.

"Why?"

After a brief silence, Sixth Brother explained, "We were fine before he came, but since he arrived—"

"Sixth Brother!" Third Sister interrupted, fixing her gaze on him. "Even without Little Nine, we would have to face the Ancestral Dao eventually."

Sixth Brother was silent.

Third Sister sighed softly and patted Sixth Brother's shoulder. "Our strength is nowhere near Big Brother's, but has he ever looked down on us when we sought his protection?

"Little Nine isn't a bad person, and he believes in the same cause as us. Since he's one of us—"

Sixth Brother suddenly shook his head. "He's not one of us. He cultivates the Dao of Order, and at its core, it's the same as the Ancestral Dao's Great Dao."

Sixth Brother glanced at Ye Guan in the distance and continued, "That's what truly worries me."

They were Dao Defiers, but one of them actually wanted to establish an Order rooted in Dao. Who wouldn't be concerned if they were in Sixth Brother's shoes?

In Sixth Brother's eyes, Ye Guan and the Ancestral Dao were on the same Dao.

Third Sister glanced at Ye Guan. "Now that you've said that, I'm starting to think that he's a little suspicious, too."

Sixth Brother shook his head with a smile, then said seriously, "Third Sister, I have nothing against him. But you've heard of the saying, 'He who fights too long against dragons becomes a dragon himself.'

"Those who cultivate order will eventually come to see all living beings as mere tools for their own gains."

"Haha." Third Sister chuckled. "Let's not overthink it for now. Our focus should be defeating the Ancestral Dao first."

Sixth Brother nodded. "That's true."

Third Sister slowly raised her head and gazed up at the shattered sky. A trace of worry flickered in her eyes. She remembered something and turned to look at the Nine Continents Master in the distance.

The Nine Continents Master's abnormally calm face made Third Sister feel worried.

Earlier, she sensed that something was off when Big Brother made his entrance. Big Brother had obliterated all the experts in one strike, but the Nine Continents Master had survived the attack. Logically, that was impossible.

Sensing her gaze, the Nine Continents Master looked at her briefly before shifting his focus back to the battlefield. He couldn't see the Ancestral Dao and Ling Xiao as well, but the raging sea of sword light up above told him how intense the battle had become.

Above the sky, the starry skies had been reduced to nothingness.

The Ancestral Dao was still sacrificing all living beings, but he noticed something off about Ling Xiao's strength. He had grown several times stronger than earlier.

How was this possible?

Boom!

A sword light tore through the void, sending the Ancestral Dao flying tens of thousands of metres away.

The moment it stopped, another colossal sword light flew toward it.

The Ancestral Dao extended its right hand and lightly tapped the air. A "Dao" character materialized. The next moment, an overwhelming surge of Great Dao power flooded the battlefield.

Just then, the "Dao" character shattered, and the immense Great Dao power collapsed completely.

Bam!

Ling Xiao's broadsword descended, blasting the Ancestral Dao away. Before it could stop, another sword light made a beeline for it. The powerful sword energy shattered the Ancestral Dao's overwhelming energy..

Dao Evolution!

This was a grand divine spell that the Ancestral Dao had created after unifying the Ten Tiers of Civilization. With a mere thought on its end, the power of countless civilizations converged on his palm.

Its palm now contained the combined might of the Ten Tiers of Civilization.

The Ancestral Dao swung its fist at the oncoming broadsword.

Boom!

The punch forcibly shattered the incoming sword energy. The next moment, the broken fragments of the sword energy reassembled and came slashing down toward the Ancestral Dao.

The Ancestral Dao raised its fist once more and punched forward.

The starry skies were set ablaze with powerful Dao Flames.

When Ancestral Dao clashed with Ling Xiao's sword energy, a terrifying shockwave erupted, sending the Dao Flames and sword energy in all directions.

The impact sent both the Ancestral Dao and Ling Xiao flying away.

After stopping, Ling Xiao laughed heartily. He shook the broadsword in his right hand, and the shattered sword energy in the air surged into his broadsword. His sword intent and sword energy were so strong that even the Ancestral Dao couldn't obliterate them.

Meanwhile, the Ancestral Dao looked at Ling Xiao and bellowed, "So you've absorbed my retribution?!"

"Hahaha, that's right!" Ling Xiao burst into laughter again. "Surprised?"

The Ancestral Dao's expression turned grim. It hadn't expected that Ling Xiao would absorb its retribution, rather than simply getting rid of it. By devouring its retribution, Ling Xiao had gained insight into some of its weaknesses.

Otherwise, there was no way Ling Xiao would have been able to suppress it.

Ling Xiao smirked and added, "Ancestral Dao, honestly, if you hadn't chosen to sacrifice all living beings, I wouldn't have been able to suppress you even after devouring your retribution.

"After all, you are backed by the Ten Tiers of Civilization. You are supposed to be invincible in this universe. I really hadn't expected you to sacrifice all beings."

When the Ancestral Dao had chosen to sacrifice all living beings, it severed its connections with them. If it were to succeed in sacrificing all living beings, it would make a breakthrough, reaching an entirely new realm.

It would no longer be reliant on the beings of the vast expanse.

Simply put, the Ancestral Dao was at its weakest point at the moment. It just had to overcome this critical juncture, and it would be invincible.

The Ancestral Dao locked its gaze onto Ling Xiao. "Aren't you celebrating too early?"

"Not at all. I'm just a little curious. You should know very well that I won't let you succeed in sacrificing all living beings," Ling Xiao replied and stepped forward.

A surge of overwhelming sword intent erupted from him, and an enormous sword light came slashing toward Ancestral Dao.

But this time, Ancestral Dao did not move at all.

Just as the sword light was about to hit it, a blood-red hand stretched out from the spacetime rift in front of it and tapped the sword light with just two fingers.

Boom!

The sword light was instantly forced to retreat.

A woman stepped out of the spacetime rift. Her long hair was crimson red, and she was wearing a blood-red robe.

She was none other than Fan Zhaodi!
