Chapter 47: Yuna Tachiabana

Yuna hated her job. Born in a noble and high-class family, she was born with a golden spoon in her mouth. Growing up, she never really lacked anything and showed off her unparalleled talent and powers, always coming out on top.

At the age of 3, she had already learnt how to read fluently.

By the age of 5, she had finished reading 1,000 books.

By the age of 7, she could play all musical instruments proficiently.

By the age of 12, she became proficient in Taekwondo, achieving a black belt in it before going on to master all forms of combat.

At the age of 15 years old, she broke all the records, awakening the ancestral bloodline, becoming the crown jewel of her clan.

At the age of 16, she stayed true to all the hopes and dreams associated with her, directly getting into Archon Academy.

By the time she graduated, she was hailed as an unparalleled genius, going on to join the military as a commander.

Having lived a smooth and sailing life until now, she was completely blindsided by life when she faced her first failure.

Because of her sheer arrogance, she went too deep into enemy territory, provoking someone she shouldn’t have, and by the time she realised it, it had cost her too much.

Her whole company of men died, trying to save her. Her sheer arrogance and confidence led to the death of hundreds.

Overnight, her reputation changed. From the Crowned Jewel to a Blood Tainted one, and she was charged with dereliction of duty and the main cause of her regiment’s death.

Officially, after a vigorous trial, she was finally declared guilty. Her father, a senior army officer, was the one who led the trial against her.

She was stripped of her rank and cast off from the army and had her advancement path sealed so she couldn’t make any more progress for the next 3 years.

Knowing she was lacking the real-world experience of how to interact with normal people, he had her serve as a teacher to kids in a school his friend ran.

Yuna, in the midst of all this, stayed silent. She couldn’t focus on anything else. All she could think about was the men she led. And she found the punishment she suffered as nothing more than a joke. She knew the real story.

They were only under her command for a month, but she led them to their deaths just because she was not content and wanted a more glorious achievement.

These men, the ones whom she never noticed and considered worth her time, were the same men who gave their lives to safeguard hers. The same men who barely knew her died willingly trying to save her.

Whenever she slept, she found herself transported back to that same moment, and the screams of her men, and helplessly, she felt when she saw that monster tear apart everyone brutally.

She remembered how all her men threw themselves willingly at the monster, just so they could buy her some time to escape.

She didn’t want to go. She wanted to stay and fight with them. She wanted to make her final stand. Yuna Tachibana was no coward. But they didn’t let her.

She vividly remembered it as a bloody hand grasping her hand tightly.

"Listen to me, pretty princess. Not all of us can escape here. We will buy you time, so run!" The soldier coughed blood as he spoke, but he kept holding her hand, directly staring into her eyes.

"But I can’t—"

"No buts! *cough* Listen— *cough* here. All of us are old men who are way past our prime. We can never improve and go further, even if we want to. But you *cough* *cough*—"

The man doubled over on the spot, vomiting blood violently, as he felt the pain of tearing apart his soul. It was the pain someone only felt when their partner, Terran, died.

"We don’t have much time! Go!! Don’t let the sacrifice of my brothers go to waste!! Come back stronger in the future, and avenge us!! Now GO, RUN AWAY RIGHT NOW!!"

Without giving her any time to reply, Yuna was forced to watch as the man jumped directly in front of the devil, trying to shield someone behind him with his body.

She had to watch him get torn apart, limb by limb, and never getting a chance to do anything.

With tears of blood in her eyes, she ran. She ran far away from the fight as everyone else covered for her. She ran for 3 days, relying on sheer will and her partner Teran to escape various dangers and the case along the way, before finally giving in and going unconscious.

Luckily or Unluckily for her, she survived. The next thing she remembered was waking up in a military hospital and finally seeing the consequences of her actions.

The Front Military Base 3362 was completely annihilated.

662 Military Personnel. (non-combatant)

117 Combat Soldiers.

1087 Terra Beasts.

Including her own First Terra Beast, over 1,867 Lives were lost that day. All at the hands of a single devil.

She herself was found over 800 kms away from the base, barely breathing.

Hearing the number of deaths caused by her provoking someone she couldn’t defeat, she felt devastated. Feeling it was all her fault, she went to the court and confessed everything herself and asked for an as harsh sentence as possible. But the military refused to punish her, not finding her at fault.

But Yuna just kept spiralling downwards, going as far as feeling suicidal.

Her father, who couldn’t bear to see his daughter like this, thought it was his fault she grew up like this. So, he had a talk with her.

SLAP!!

"Yuna Tachibana!! I don’t remember raising you like this!! If you feel regret about your actions, take the revenge against that monster yourself!! Grow up and become much, much stronger!! Don’t run away from it!! I didn’t raise my daughter to be a coward!! Take revenge for yourself and face it head on!!"

Officially, she was stripped of her rank and cast off from the army and had her cultivation base sealed so she couldn’t make any more progress for the next 3 years.

Unofficially, she was hiding and preparing herself for a fight against that monster, waiting for the day she took her sweet revenge.

It had been two years since then, and according to her, she had learned to be less condescending and had matured a lot. She also found a disciple to pass on her unique teachings for the future. All she had to do was wait for her to grow up and graduate next year.

’Overall, life is quite good, and my genius-level intellect is unmatched. All I need to do is wait for one year, and I will be finally able to go back to where I belong. Not to mention I even found a genius as a future disciple. As expected for great me.’

She nodded to herself while eating an ice cream cone in front of a food stand. As for the competition, she had no such interest in going and watching it. It was just two children fighting, completely beneath her notice.

"Wonder if I should take one for Sylvia too? I think she will love this." Just as she was musing, she heard a voice from nearby.

"Hey guys, have you heard about Sarah and Woolie textiles?"

"Who hasn’t heard about it?! I mean, that Raiden guy with a Woolie on the stage was extremely shameless. Using a whole banner and all, and acting like that in the most important competition. Isn’t he afraid he will be kicked out midway?"

"I doubt it. Geniuses often have special privileges. At most, he will be hung from a tree and beaten like last year. I heard it was Miss Yuna who recommended this one, too. I wonder how she finds guys like this year after year. Must be talent to find such unique talents each year."

Yuna couldn’t hear the rest of what they said, or notice her ice cream dripping down her hands. All she could feel was anger. She was teased a lot for her choice of student last year, but not again.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she felt.

"RAIDEN, YOU MOTHAFUCKI—"
