Chapter 462: Chapter 445: Secret Castle

After sending the messages, Mu Ying teleported back to the couch beside the fireplace in the Magic Hut’s living room, collapsing onto the sofa as if all her bones had been pulled out of her, using a gigantic fluffy black and white pillow for comfort, and sighed contentedly.

Gungun, who was nibbling on a tin can by the fireplace with a cracking sound, twisted its body and soothingly patted Mu Ying with a paw before continuing to gnaw at the tin can, albeit slower and quieter now.

The warm glow from the fireplace bathed her, and her breathing deepened, soon accompanied by soft snores.

Five little fairies collaborated to spread a blanket over her, then perched atop her, silently gesturing and communicating amongst themselves.

A small fairy with watermelon noodle hair and red eyes curiously looked at the sleeping girl, opened its mouth slightly, and softly called out, "Mommy."

Half of the year had been spent bustling outside, and Mu Ying was thoroughly exhausted. Even though she had recently been consuming Grandma Fruits regularly, improving her health, and her sleeping needs had normalized toward those of a regular elf, she was still struggling to cope.

Bustling about was no job for humans, and returning to the familiar home enveloped her in a comforting stability like the best sleep inducer, making her fall asleep as soon as she closed her eyes.

The Elf Bloodline was indeed powerful; she had stayed awake for several days just to finish her tasks and come home quickly. Once she relaxed, however, she needed only a little over an hour of sleep to feel fully rested.

She opened her eyes and counted, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5?"

Counting the Gem Fairies on her, it seemed there was one extra.

"Mom, I’m Watermelon!" the little one giggled as it introduced itself.

Mu Ying’s eyes crinkled into crescents, "Welcome to our big family!"

She knew her watermelon harvest would be bountiful next year.

Fairies born from the Gem Tree all bore traits of other plants, and accordingly, their presence also favorably influenced the growth tendencies of plants with similar attributes.

Treating the new arrival equally, Mu Ying crafted a watermelon-shaped hut for Watermelon out of Crystal Coral, placing it under the Gem Tree.

The mark on the Territory Internal Network turned red, indicating unread messages.

Mu Ying opened it to check.

One was from the work group. Her employees were asking if she had returned, how this year’s New Year event was to be handled, and if they needed to help with anything.

Another was from Sister Furris and the others, informing her they knew she was back and inviting her for dinner at Elf Village in the evening.

In the work group, Mu Ying replied that she had already prepared for this year’s New Year event and she would discuss it further with them later.

Then, with her family in tow, she teleported to Elf Village.

Upon arrival, Mu Ying was astonished, "So beautiful!"

Although it was already winter, the Elf Village looked as though it was spring, with a variety of flowers blooming amongst the forest land.

The trees had grown significantly thicker than her last visit, and the intricately shaped Tree Houses, appearing almost as if they grew from the trees, were especially attractive.

Although they didn’t feature the weight reduction effect of the Tree Houses in her territory, making them generally smaller, they were much more exquisite than those in the territory.

The purposely built Elf-style in Maple Town couldn’t compare to the village handcrafted by the elves themselves.

"What do you think? Do you like it?" Layla slid down from a nearby large tree.

"I love it, it’s so beautiful!" Mu Ying spoke earnestly.

"Follow me!" Layla beckoned to her and agilely climbed back up the tree.

She hopped a few times and ascended to the branch, standing steadily on a limb as thick as an arm, leaving Mu Ying in awe.

She remembered that Layla was an Elf Warrior, wasn’t she? How did she manage to move so smoothly without using spells like the Jumping Technique or Spider Walk Skill?

Mu Ying faithfully applied the Spider Walk Skill and climbed the tree, cradling Gungun, while Da Ming and the Gem Fairies flapped their wings and followed behind them.

Layla led the way up front, with Mu Ying closely following, sprinting and leaping all the way on the branches.

Even though she used spells, sometimes she needed Layla to wait for her a bit.

Mu Ying finally understood why there were no similar sky paths between the Tree Houses in Elf Village like those within the territory.

Elf Village was completely enclosed, without an invitation no outsider could enter, and the elves’ ability to move through the trees was stronger than monkeys, and incredibly graceful as well; who needed to build sky paths?

"Little Mu Ying, you’re already 20 years old, using spells to cheat while running on trees, how embarrassing!" Layla teased, "But you are still young, just get used to it more, it’s also a way to train body attribute and balacing ability, and little elves need to get used to it early too."

"Got it, I will practice more."

She didn’t want to hold back the elves, this must be one of the elves’ basic skills.

Maybe she was now more like a human with an elf’s body—she hadn’t developed and utilized many of the elves’ innate talents.

This way of moving through the forest seemed quite useful to Mu Ying, even though she used magic to achieve similar effects in the past, albeit often not as well.

If she could truly achieve the level of a normal elf, it would be much more convenient for her when patrolling the forest in the future, saving a lot of Mana Value.

"We’re here, this is your home!" Layla stopped at a round, pointed Tree House outside a tree trunk and said to Mu Ying.

"Mine?" Mu Ying said, sounding very surprised.

"Of course, as the only little cub in our Elf Village, how could your brothers and sisters not prepare a little home for you! That one over there is my home, and that one is where Furris lives... Your home is right in the center of our village!"

Layla introduced her to the ownership of the surrounding Tree Houses while she opened the small door of the Tree House.

A wreath-wrapped wooden sign hung on the door, written in Elf Language: "Mu Ying’s Secret Castle."

It really warmed the heart and sparked a laugh.

"Isn’t it cute? My home door was marked just like this when I was young," Layla said.

Mu Ying nodded obediently.

Perhaps in the eyes of Sister Layla and the others, she was still a 20-year-old child!

Although she was actually mature in mind, seeing such a girlish door sign still felt warm.

Because it was a feeling of being cared for like a little girl that she had never experienced before.

The house consisted of one large open space, with two large windows, and vines climbed up to the windowsills.

The windowsill was filled with flower pots of all sizes, bursting with blooms.

Inside was a small wooden bed, covered with a soft, thick animal skin blanket, and the floor was covered with a straw mat.

An irregular wooden table stood by the window, and the stools resembled tree stumps with small green sprouts on them.

Next to the table on the wall was a small bookshelf, filled with books in Elf Language.

On the other side, along the curved wall, were some shelves holding various plants and flowers, with the bottom layer filled with several straw baskets piled with fruits.
