Chapter 17: Plan

"Alright... I think I’m all set."

Richard smiled as he looked at the backpack on his bed.

He had packed all he would need for this trip in the bag, and after examining it for some time now, he was sure he hadn’t forgotten anything.

A whole week had passed since he discovered the overpowered nature of his Principal Disposition, and during that period, one idea kept popping into his mind.

—Nuke!

Could he make a Nuke?

The thought never left him, so he was determined to test it out.

Nuclear Weapons... They were at the height of destruction in human civilization.

The Atomic Bomb, for example.

It was a type of Nuclear Bomb and was popularly known on Earth as a weapon of mass destruction. It worked by releasing immense energy through nuclear fission—splitting uranium or plutonium nuclei—resulting in intense explosions, heat, and radiation.

It had been used twice in warfare—Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

Earth time, of course.

These bombs caused unprecedented destruction.

They revolutionized what it meant to conduct warfare!

As an irredeemable weeb and someone who was chronically online before death, there was no way Richard didn’t know about these facts.

In fact, since he planned to visit Japan one day, he did his best to learn about its history.

Thus, he knew full well about the Bombs—Little Boy and Fat Man—used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively.

He knew what they looked like and the basics of what they could do.

That was sufficient for [Basic Summoning].

He naturally didn’t know the full composition of these items, the same way those who used this Principal Disposition didn’t need to know the full makeup of a frying pan before summoning it.

All he needed was a name, a concrete image of the item in his head, and its function.

This would be sufficient for the Akashic Records to find the item and respond to his call through manifesting it in reality.

"Now then... Since I have received permission from my parents, I might as well head out."

Richard’s parents didn’t really care about him.

However, since he was their sole child, they wouldn’t let him out of their sight so easily.

Thus, it took some time to convince them to let him have his field trip.

’I was tempted to show them my Principal Disposition, but... well, I’m not so sure about that.’

Richard felt like he would gain a lot more if his parents knew just how powerful he was.

However, he couldn’t rush this.

’First, I need to confirm if I can summon a Nuke.’

If that were the case, he could threaten his family with this power and make them do his bidding.

’Hehehe! I’m so smart...’

Richard didn’t realize something... odd... about his reasoning.

If he summoned a Nuke, how would he escape its blast radius?

The fool hadn’t thought that far.

But—well, he wasn’t completely wrong about getting some leverage in his family.

If he could prove his great power to them, they would respect him a lot more and would value his existence greatly. If he also turned against them and threatened them with a Nuke, they would comply with his every wish without putting up too much of a fuss.

’I can summon the weaknesses of Vampires too, so isn’t it possible to conduct a coup and take down my family?’

All of these were within the realm of possibility.

But then—

Richard was only a normal person.

He did not have any special durability or resistance to several hax abilities in this world.

All he could do was summon items from Earth.

As powerful as these things were, they still operated using the laws of physics and were not supernatural in any way.

Well, in this world, they would be considered such.

Still—

What would happen if he summoned a Nuke and someone simply teleported it away?

Or, what if someone moved faster than the speed of sound and simply killed him before he could conclude his thoughts? There could be existences that could see the future, so they would notice his plan and take him down before that happened.

The list went on!

Richard wasn’t some all-powerful god.

He must have recognized that at the corner of his mind, so he still treaded carefully and didn’t hurry to reveal his ace to his parents.

What if they had some kind of mind control or brainwashing Mystic Object?

They could pretend to go along with his wishes, and when he was sleeping or completely unsuspecting, they would use their powers to force him to be compliant with them.

That was too scary to even think about.

He would essentially turn into their puppet.

The only reason Richard was remotely safe stemmed from the fact that everyone severely underestimated him—including his parents.

If they didn’t—

’This is the same world where tossing your baby right after birth is allowed. I can’t be too careful around these people...’ Richard thought solemnly while staring at his backpack. ’The best thing to do is actually make them continue to underestimate me until I completely learn my abilities and find ways to protect myself from their influence.’

As much as he wanted to show off and tear down his parents for underestimating him, Richard knew now wasn’t the time.

’Besides, it’s not like they’re in my way or anything.’

His parents basically offered him free food and shelter, and once he turned 15 years old, they would send him to the Academy.

All of these weren’t bad things by all accounts.

’They’re also not making me do any chores or some life-or-death training.’

In essence, because they had no expectations of him, they let him do as he pleased as long as it was within the realm of reason.

Come to think of it, they even arranged a marriage with someone for him.

Granted, the girl was a bit crazy (Richard doesn’t yet know how insane Selica is), but she was only ten years old. Many children were monsters at that age, especially girls.

As someone who had an older sister and a younger sister, and also as someone who had been bullied by girls ever since he was a child, he knew just how cruel female children were. They became even worse as teenagers and only grew out of that phase once they became adults.

His older sister, for example.

She was a terrible person to him when they were kids, but she became much kinder when she grew up. Richard even remembered her sending him money every now and then.

Maybe her guilt was the driving force.

Or, perhaps the rigors of adulthood forced her to develop some empathy.

Regardless—

’My current life isn’t bad, all things considered. I have far more freedom in the manor now, and I’m even allowed to go out on my own.’

These were all good things.

There was no need to expose his powers to his parents yet.

"Enough deliberation... Let’s go!"

Richard stepped out of his room and found a nice carriage to take him to the City Square.

There, a Teleportation Circle was present.

It essentially took the traveler wherever they wanted—for a fee, of course.

Richard could have used the one at home, but he didn’t want his parents to find out where he was going. He had only told them he wanted to check out the city, but if they checked the Teleportation Circle’s records, they would know his true destination.

No one could know that!

’Since this is a publicly used place, there will be many records left behind. It’ll be impossible for them to know which one is mine...’

Richard also had his identity hidden, and his face was even obscured by a dark cloak.

No one would be able to recognize him!

’Brilliant!’ He grinned, getting in the queue just like all the others.

After waiting in line for some time, he finally reached the Teleportation Circle and input his destination in the holographic map that appeared before him.

[Transporting in 3... 2... 1...]

Right before Richard disappeared, a sudden thought entered his mind.

’Hold on... How do I return?’

Before he could answer this question, however, a blinding flash of light appeared around him and consumed his entire visage.

He disappeared from the spot immediately!

*********

"Hehehe... So that’s our prey, huh?"

A band of cloaked men hid in the shadows as they watched a young boy, the age of ten, use a Teleportation Circle in the city square.

Their bodies blended with the shadows, and the cruel look in their eyes gave a hint at what they did for a living. These men reeked of blood and death, and their collective expressions when they spoke oozed malice.

"What a foolish young man! To think such a runt truly belongs to a Noble Family. He couldn’t even disguise himself properly." One of the people said.

"But that works well for us. Makes the job easier." Another responded.

"True." Yet one more chuckled. "By capturing him and demanding ransom, we will be able to make ourselves rich... hehe!"

As they laughed and spoke amongst one another, one question rang out.

It sounded young and inexperienced.

"S-so what should we do once we get the ransom? Will we let him go?"

For a moment, there was silence in the group.

Then, a louder echo of laughter erupted.

"Let him go? No way..."

"Hehehe..."

"Our client already paid us for the job. Demanding a ransom is only the bonus."

"That’s right. That boy, Richard Lamperouge Von Blanc... his fate was already sealed when we, the Six Eyes of Infinity,, found him." The group began to move, escaping the shadows.

True to their words, there were six of them.

The leader stood in front of them, his white hair and blue eyes obscured from the rest of the world, even as his curled-up lips parted.

"We’re gonna kill him."
