I Maxed Out My Luck Stat-Chapter 26: Alone Together
How exactly did the Pathfinder appear so randomly in that location?
It even led them to a completely new and undiscovered Exit Path deep underground.
Richard and Neia had no clue about any of this.
Well, Richard himself did not understand any of it, but the girl with him suspected that it was all a part of his arrangements.
’If he has such great power, and he intentionally planned for his Principal Disposition to lag when it did, that means he could have also predicted his capture. Could that also be why he didn’t properly hide his identity back then in the City Square?’ Neia thought about this as she slept on the bed that Richard had provided for her in his home.
When they took the Exit Path, they appeared in a lake on the fringe of the City. Such places weren’t very populated, so no one saw them appearing from the water.
Then, Richard told her to disguise herself as a Commoner Class Vampire, which she did.
Afterwards, he took her to his home.
When they arrived at the Blanc Manor, Richard simply brought her to his room, where she would be living. It was a vast room, although she expected something larger for someone of his standing.
However, this room was filled with all kinds of strange objects.
These were items that she had never seen before.
The strange thing about them was how none of them possessed any Mystical Characteristics.
Yet... they were very odd.
There was a large screen fixed to the wall in his room that displayed all kinds of things, and also a large black metallic thing from which sound emanated.
He called those things "TeeVee and Speak-her."
Neia did not understand many of these things, and it deeply puzzled her.
Although she was born in the slums, she still lived in a Noble House for a long time and received some education. She had never encountered any of these objects before, which made her deeply suspect that they were a product of Richard’s Principal Disposition.
If she wasn’t certain about it before, she was completely sure now:
This power was not [Basic Summoning] at all!
Richard summoned a bed for her, as well as a few clothes.
Basically, all the essentials she would need.
Then, he opted to partition the room with some kind of curtain that separated the two of them.
However, she refused this offer.
After all, she was his subordinate and wanted to be aware of his position at all times. If she wanted to serve him well and also learn of his desires, she wanted to be able to stay with him at all times.
This fueled her desire for limited privacy.
’I know it is selfish of me, but... I can’t help it. I’m just glad that he is so understanding. In fact, he is so kind to a fault... or could this be another test?’
Neia felt her head spinning anytime she looked at Richard and tried to fathom him.
It seemed like every action he took had many layers to it.
Think about it well.
Why would he go to the City Square without properly concealing himself or having any guards to protect him? Why would he also intentionally transport himself to the Mountain Range when there didn’t seem to be a way to return?
Surely, only a fool would do something like that intentionally, right?
But Richard was no fool!
He took no guards with him and intentionally left himself identifiable so that he would bait his would-be kidnappers. He also intentionally let down his guard so that they could kidnap him, but not without leaving a Lag behind.
Everything was thoroughly planned—even the time of detonation.
He was safe from the blast, while all the culprits perished.
But that wasn’t all!
’He already had an Exit Path prepared beforehand, which is what he was searching for...’
Neia felt satisfied that she was able to uncover some of his plans.
It made her feel smarter.
’But... could that really be all?’ At some point, she began to doubt her intelligence. ’I can’t help but think that there is something more that I am missing!’
Yes, she had established a few things.
Richard actually wanted to be captured by the Six Eyes of Infinity.
That meant he already knew of their plan beforehand.
So...
... Why would he go out of his way to play along with the farce that was his capture?
’Could it be that he was trying to corner our employer? Or could his intentions be different? He said he was giving me a test back then, but he intentionally revealed the Pathfinder by pretending to trip on it. We were right next to it, too... so maybe that wasn’t even the test?’
Neia struggled to imagine what the real test was.
But, no matter how hard she thought, she could not fully comprehend it.
Richard was simply too unfathomable!
"...." She glanced at him, watching as he shut his eyes peacefully on his bed.
He wasn’t sleeping, but his body was motionless.
That meant he was likely meditating, or perhaps in some deep thought—calculating his next move and cooking schemes she could not begin to unravel.
Without realizing it, a warm smile formed on Neia’s face.
Look at her.
She had been elevated from the life of a destitute to someone who now had a safe place to live and someone she could trust.
What more could a woman like her want?
Well... there was revenge.
’But that will come later. First, I must prove myself to him. During that process, I must learn as much as I can from him...’
Neia nodded to herself in the silence of the night before she went to bed.
Before sleeping, she had one final thought.
’I guess he really isn’t interested in my body, after all. As expected of such an astute person!’
Meanwhile...
’Fuck! I can’t sleep!’
... Richard was busy agonizing as he tried to sleep.
’It’s taking everything I can to pretend like I’m sleeping. But I can’t help it... I’ve never slept in the same room with a girl before.’
As he thought this, his heart kept racing even as he tried to calm it down.
Such a thing shouldn’t be too surprising.
Richard was just an average guy on Earth, and the best thing he had gotten from a girl was a kiss.
Perhaps if he had lived longer, he would have made it to third base, but unfortunately, he died at the young age of sixteen.
Because of this, he was actually very green when it came to these matters.
It would have been a different case if Neia had agreed to the curtain shrouding them, or if she had slept with her pajamas on. But the girl disregarded him so much because of his age, so she actually slept naked on the bed.
Yes!
Neia, the beautiful Vampire Noble, was sleeping naked on the bed next to his!
One has to emphasize how beautiful the Noble Vampires were.
Richard thought he was actually slightly attractive in his current form—at least by Earth’s standards. But to Nobles, he was extremely ugly in comparison.
In fact, the same way Commoners could not be compared to the Special Class of Vampires in terms of appearance—one being a grotesque and ugly bat-like creature while the other one looking like a humanoid being—was the same way Special Class of Vampires could not be compared to the Noble Class of Vampires.
That is to say... Nobles were extremely more attractive than the Special Class of Vampires.
Richard bore more resemblance to the Special Class of Vampires.
But that, to him, was more attractive than average.
Hehehe...
Now imagine how he felt sleeping right next to Neia, a nineteen-year-old Noble who was even more attractive than ordinary Nobles.
Her body was mature, endowed to perfection.
And she was completely nude!
Richard naturally went crazy in his mind, but he did everything to contain his desires.
In fact, one could respect his willpower.
’Why is she insistent on torturing me like this? I mean, I know it’s because she sees me as a ten-year-old, but... my actual age is 26 years.’
That meant he had an extremely high libido... one that a ten-year-old could not comprehend.
But he could not act on it!
(Actually, he could... but Richard did not know that... Yet.)
As someone who lived on Earth and knew of the way certain women felt unsafe around guys, he decided to sleep first so that she would feel a lot more at ease.
’She must have bought it, which is why she also went to bed.’ He smiled proudly at himself.
Poor, stupid Richard.
He didn’t know a thing about what was actually going on.
Not only did Neia know that he was not asleep, but she was also imitating him.
She was trying to meditate.
