I Merged with a Forbidden SSS-Rank Nanosuit After Being Abandoned-Chapter 75 - Koru’s Exams
It didn’t take long before they reached the reception, where a Guild staff member personally escorted them deeper into the building.
Moments later, the doors to a testing room slid open.
"Mr. Sentinel, you can take your test in here," the staff member said, gesturing beside her.
Koru nodded enthusiastically. "That’s amazing!"
"As for you, sir," she smiled politely as she pointed at Zion, "you can follow him inside and watch. Just please don’t interrupt the tests."
Zion nodded once but remained silent.
He stepped inside first, moving to the right side of the room. He leaned back against the wall, arms loosely crossed as his eyes swept across the testing chamber.
The room was far larger than it looked from the outside.
Thick metallic plates covered the floor, while faintly glowing lights sat embedded within the walls. Several scanning devices were positioned near the left side of the room, while a familiar testing circle stood at the center.
’They’ll make a Mercenary and a regular ID at the same time, huh,’ Zion thought.
Koru, on the other hand, walked straight toward the middle, his heavy steps echoing softly as he looked around with fascination written all over his face.
"Wow..." he muttered. "What is all of this..."
Before Zion could respond, another door slid open at the far end of the room.
A man in a dark Guild uniform stepped inside, holding a thin tablet in one hand.
His eyes widened as he stared at Koru for a brief moment. Then, he adjusted his expression into something neutral and professional.
"Alright," he said calmly. "Let’s start with the basics."
He approached Koru, stopping a few meters away to avoid having to look up too much. "What’s your name?"
"Koru," he answered without hesitation.
The man nodded, fingers moving quickly across the tablet. "For formality’s sake, your species?"
"Verdant Sentinel."
The man nodded and glanced at the screen, then back at Koru, before continuing as if nothing was out of the ordinary.
"Approximate age?"
Koru hesitated, scratching the side of his head. "I... don’t really know. I’ve been awake for quite some time."
The Guild member hummed softly. "We’ll mark it as undetermined for now."
He finished inputting the data before lifting his gaze again. "Next, we’ll do a full-body scan. Just walk with me and stand on the platform."
Koru glanced at Zion for a moment. Only after he nodded did Koru follow the man to the left side of the room.
The man activated a circular panel in the floor, lighting it up with a blue glow.
"Please step on this," he said, gesturing at the panel. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Koru nodded, following his instructions and carefully stepping onto the panel. It lit up with a blue light the next second, scanning his entire body.
After a few seconds, the light disappeared again.
"The scan is complete," the Guild member said. "Now onto the final part."
The man walked back to the center of the room, Koru following closely behind.
’This will be interesting,’ Zion thought, watching patiently. ’I’ve never seen Koru fight either.’
Sure, he knew the rough level Koru was at. But general strength and actual combat capabilities were something completely different.
The platform in the center raised slightly while the staff member explained what was going to happen to Koru.
After Koru nodded, the staff member left the stage and climbed the stairs toward his control post.
"We’ll start now!" he shouted, having reached his position.
Koru smiled uneasily and nodded once.
Seeing that, the staff member pressed a few buttons on his hologram and started the simulation.
Zion watched carefully, noticing how wary and uneasy Koru became as his surroundings changed.
’Was this too soon for him?’ he thought, narrowing his eyes. ’This is a grade above spaceships and massive buildings in strangeness, after all.’
He couldn’t see the surroundings change from the outside, but what he could see were three thick metal drones flying out of openings in the floor.
Zion stared at Koru, his eyes widening slightly.
Koru’s expression changed completely, the previous nervousness vanishing as he moved into a combat stance.
Without hesitation, he dashed forward, heading for the nearest drone.
He swung his right arm toward it, sets of vines and rocks rapidly increasing its size.
The drone was captured in an instant, denting inward as Koru’s massive hand gripped it tightly.
Without hesitation, he twisted his rock body, slinging the drone toward another.
The drone flew through the air, crashing into it with a loud bang.
’That’s the racial ability he was training,’ Zion thought, raising an eyebrow. ’It definitely has a lot of strength behind it.’
As he quietly observed, Koru had already started moving toward his next target.
He ran through the arena, surprisingly fast for his size and rock body.
The drone tried to maneuver around him, yet was quickly caught as both of Koru’s hands grew three times as large and slammed shut.
Koru opened his hands again, the drone falling to the ground with smoke billowing out of it.
He breathed heavily for a moment, slowly turning around with caution.
Behind him, another drone flew out from the tiles. This one was at least twice as large as the previous drones, with several dull blades sticking out of it and two daggers attached to metal ropes.
Koru stared at it with narrowed eyes, his hands growing slightly larger.
The drone surged forward and began spinning, the daggers soaring toward Koru at rapid speed.
Koru took a few steps back, raising his arms.
Suddenly, the drone shot forward, its daggers slicing straight at him.
Koru stepped forward instantly, pushing his arms out against the ropes. The daggers barely missed his face, spinning around his arms instead.
The drone, now stuck, made a desperate attempt to injure Koru, forcing itself forward with the blades on its main body.
’Those can barely injure his rock skin,’ Zion thought, squinting. ’But I guess they can’t really use guns in a test like this.’
As expected, the blades struck Koru’s skin but stopped there.
Koru looked down, a wide grin spreading across his face as his forearms grew thicker.
He hugged the drone tightly, slowly compressing the C-rank material.
A chill ran down Zion’s spine as he watched the drone clatter to the ground, flattened like a pancake.
"That’s it!" the Guild member shouted, a slight trace of panic in his voice. "You’ve passed the C-rank exam!"
