I Merged with a Forbidden SSS-Rank Nanosuit After Being Abandoned-Chapter 90 - Descending Onto Heliax
Two days flew by rapidly as they prepared.
Zion occasionally walked past the front window, staring outside at the Titan-class ship that kept following them closely.
Finally, his gaze drifted to the lower half of the window, locking onto a yellowish planet with large patches of green and blue.
’We don’t have long anymore,’ he thought, glancing at the time. ’I should wake Koru up and discuss the plan one final time.’
He turned around, wandering back toward the training room.
As the doors shifted open, his eyes locked onto the floor, where a large stone giant lay at rest.
"Time to wake up," Zion said, the door shifting shut behind him.
Getting no response, he let out a sigh. He walked over to Koru and softly shook him awake.
"Huh?" Koru let out, rubbing his eyes.
"It’s time," Zion said once again, standing back up.
Koru’s gaze immediately sharpened, all the previous drowsiness vanishing in an instant.
"Okay," he said, pushing himself off the ground.
Zion nodded once, gesturing for Koru to follow him to the control room.
As if on cue, Uriel’s voice echoed through his mind.
[Host,] the AI said. [We’ll be entering the upper atmosphere of Heliax in half an hour.]
Zion exhaled slowly. "We’ve got half an hour," he said, glancing back at Koru.
"They’re still following us, right?" Koru asked, following after Zion.
"Of course," Zion said, a small smile appearing on his face. "There’s no doubt they’ll move once we touch down too."
Koru clenched his fists, stone softly grinding against stone. "Then we’ll just need to kill them."
"That’s the idea," Zion nodded. "But you have to be super careful. Also keep the plan in mind at all times."
Koru fell silent for a moment, then a small grin formed on his face.
"Naturally," he said, eyes narrowing as his grin grew wider. "I just have to be careful of guns and unique weapons."
Zion raised his thumb as the door to the control room shifted open.
Both of them stared at the Titan-class ship for a moment, then strapped themselves into their chairs.
The last minutes passed incredibly slowly as the pressure mounted on them.
’Let’s hope there aren’t too many of them,’ Zion thought, closing his eyes for a moment.
Just then, a slight vibration rippled through the floor beneath their feet. The hum of the ship deepened as the engines adjusted to the descent.
[We’ve entered Heliax’s atmosphere,] Uriel’s voice rang out. [Landing in three minutes.]
Zion glanced over at Koru and nodded.
Both immediately unstrapped themselves and walked to the ramp at the back of the ship, ignoring the tremors completely.
[I’ve found a desirable landing spot,] Uriel said, voice low. [It provides cover, but not an immense amount. Your weapons will still perform exceptionally, and Koru can hide from guns.]
’Good,’ Zion thought, letting out a deep breath.
[We’ll land in a minute,] Uriel paused for a moment. [And I wish the host great luck.]
Zion remained silent, his heart pounding as he stared at the closed ramp.
He knew today’s fight wouldn’t be easy, since there’d likely be more than a few C-ranks. Yet, he felt a strange motivation, and even excitement, for the fight.
"One minute left," he said, turning to Koru.
"Good," Koru said, grinning faintly.
As their ship approached the ground, the vibrations in the floor increased drastically, forcing both of them to hold on to the walls.
[Landing now...] Uriel said, voice low. [The enemy ship is following closely behind us.]
He paused for a moment. [You won’t have a lot of time.]
Zion nodded once, feeling the ship touch down.
The ramp immediately lowered.
At the slightest gap, both Zion and Koru jumped outside.
They quickly scanned their surroundings, finding themselves in a desert-like area with dozens of decently sized rocks.
Then their eyes darted up at the massive Titan-class ship.
Before either of them even had the chance to react, the weapon systems on the ship lit up.
Zion’s eyes widened.
Several bright rays of red energy shot through the sky, raining down on the ship they’d been in just moments ago.
"What the..." Koru mumbled, stunned.
The first shots hit the forcefield, eroding it.
Zion and Koru quickly dashed away behind some rocks.
BOOM!!!
A loud explosion echoed through the air, waves of dust and metal scraps flying toward them.
"Shit," Zion cursed, clenching his fist. "They aren’t leaving us a way out."
Only after the debris rain stopped did they meet back up with each other.
"Those people..." Koru said furiously.
"Calm down," Zion said, watching the dust wave settle slowly.
The Titan-class ship slowly lowered itself to the ground, sending tremors everywhere as it landed.
"Keep the plan in mind," Zion said, his trusty blade piercing through his knuckles.
At the same time, dark scales with thin blue cracks spread from his arms, covering even his upper torso and neck.
"I’ll draw in the first wave, then jump to their backline," he said. "Just make sure you’re ready to take over the close-range fighters once I do."
Koru punched his fists together, expanding them slowly. "Of course!"
He took a step back, planting his feet firmly into the ground, cracking the stone beneath him softly.
Zion nodded once, turning away from Koru and locking onto the Titan-class ship.
A massive ramp hissed open and slowly lowered to the ground.
One by one, silhouettes walked down the ramp, carrying all kinds of weapons—some with glowing guns, others wielding plain cold steel.
’I should take the fight to them,’ Zion thought, slowly advancing forward. ’If I get in the midst of their ranks, they’ll find it difficult to hit me.’
He walked through the brush on the cracked earth, eyes locked onto his opponents.
[Host,] Uriel’s voice rang out. [The number of C-ranks leaving the ship is far greater than we expected.]
"How many?"
[At least twenty,] Uriel continued, voice low. [As for the D- and E-ranks still onboard... I can’t give you a count yet.]
Zion’s expression darkened instantly.
His jaw tightened—but he pressed on anyway.
