Chapter 202: 181 Daydream, Destiny, and Silence (Requesting Monthly Pass)
The young boss had been busy at ‘Sorcerer’s Sanctuary’ until nearly closing time before he came back, probably just as he left, Caidai Witch gave Lin An a call.
So after work, Lin An made a detour to the organization’s headquarters.
It was just across from the neighborhood, after all.
The young boss was extremely efficient, as the first floor had already had all the non-load-bearing walls knocked down, all wall coatings scraped off, and at several spots rebar tied together, evidently planning some reinforcements.
The courtyard was filled with water pipes, seemingly intending to redo the drainage for the entire building.
Lin An got off the subway and arrived here, only to see a supervisor-looking person holding a bunch of documents while directing a few craftsmen to take measurements and urging the cleaning crews to be more nimble.
Upon reaching the upper floor, the three Caidai Witches were already waiting.
The daughter of the Caidai Witch appeared lively, bouncing over to greet him, “Big brother, you’re back.”
Lin An smiled and rubbed her little head, “Hello, Caicai.”
Caicai was the little girl’s nickname, and she was very happy with Lin An’s affectionate approach, pulling him by the hand into the hall.
Lin An was greeted by everyone and seated in the main spot of the living room sofa, looking at them curiously, “You said there was something important on the phone?”
“Yes, Great Commander.” The wizard who was carrying a welding torch and known as ‘Old Accountant’ was the first to respond.
Lin An mulled over his words, “Don’t call me Great Commander, it sounds weird, just call me by my name, Lin An.”
The old man shook his head, “Without rules, there is no square. The three of us owe you our lives, naturally we are grateful, but if we don’t call you Great Commander, others who join later won’t either.”
Lin An fell silent for a moment, then nodded slightly.
Although he was not comfortable with the title, since there had been a contribution, there should be some form of return. He considered himself kind-hearted towards the world, yet he wasn’t someone who thought only about doing good deeds; this title, perhaps, was the first step in claiming a reward.
He observed the three people in front of him, noticing an interesting phenomenon.
Although the three of them seemed to defer to the Caidai Witch, the representative who spoke for them was the elder, the Old Accountant.
The Old Accountant looked at Lin An very seriously, “I’m sorry to have called you over, it would have been more appropriate for us to visit you. But as we are all wizards, appearing suddenly around you might cause you some trouble.”
Lin An waved his hand, indicating it was a minor matter.
Only then did the Old Accountant continue, “The three of us discussed, and we all agree that human interactions are mutual.”
“You established the Sorcerer’s Sanctuary to provide shelter for wizards. We observed your boss’s attitude for a whole day and realized you might not have any demands on us.”
He looked at his two companions before continuing, “But we can’t just freeload. In fact, we consider ourselves quite competent wizards who have survived in the complex environment of Shenhou City.”
“We hope to formally tell you about our strongest abilities, so you know there are people you can call on for help when needed.”
Lin An was momentarily taken aback.
He had always been alone, handling matters by himself. When he couldn’t handle them, he had to swallow both the bad and strive for the good with his own abilities.
He never thought that one day he might rely on others.
But it seemed that his life was undergoing some changes, from having a bunch of subordinates at work to having people to rely on in the Supernatural World.
He stared blankly at the old man, then looked at the other three, his emotions fluctuating, and finally nodded gently, “Please, go on.”
The first to introduce himself was the silent middle-aged man whose codename was ‘Lottery’, a truck driver.

Dressed in an old-fashioned, earthy polo shirt and faded suit pants with a chain of keys, he said, “My strongest witchcraft ability is Dream Construction.”
What?
Lin An sized him up, finding truth in the phrase looks can be deceiving.
This…
Did not fit this bro’s style at all.
The Lottery Wizard grinned, showing somewhat yellowed teeth, and looked at Lin An somewhat awkwardly, “It started with me missing my wife a lot, thinking about her until I really saw her in my dreams…”
He coughed forcefully, preventing himself from revealing that weak, hoarse voice.
Clearly, he and his wife were very close.
“Later I learned a lot of witchcraft, and gradually developed some skills worth showing.”
“One of them is daydreaming.”
As he spoke, he rubbed his hands on his trousers, looking at Lin An nervously, “May I proceed to show you?”
Lin An gestured for him to go ahead.
Suddenly, his vision blurred, no, it wasn’t a blurring of vision, but a momentary daze in his head.
The feeling was quite peculiar; although he was clearly still in the living room, seated among a few wizards, his mind began to involuntarily imagine a scene.
In the picture, there was a magnificent palace, a bit like the ones seen in costume dramas during royal court sessions.
But the walls around had windows with stainless steel security grills, and his throne and desk had turned into the sort of solid wood desk and sofa chair that one would see in a boss’s office on TV.
Three people stood below.
The Old Accountant looked around and couldn’t help but comment, “Lottery, your taste is truly outrageous!”
Caidai Witch’s expression was even stranger, forcibly suppressing her laughter.
Lin An, curious, stood up from his seat and walked down the steps adorned with resplendent dragon patterns, his eyes sharp as he looked at Lottery, “Can we communicate in this daydream?”
