Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Zero’s Journey (1)

The next morning, while Blaze is still deep in his sleep, his clone, Blaze-Zero, wakes up.

Blaze-Zero sleeps in the same room as Blaze. Fortunately for them, they have an additional mattress for Zero to use.

Wolf and Shadow sleep in separate spots. Because Shadow can turn into a dog, he just stayed as a dog and slept on the floor.

It was quite comfy to be honest, but Kana didn’t allow that obviously, so Shadow slept at the foot end of the bed. Wolf is too large, so he couldn’t share a bed like Shadow and had to settle for the sofa couch in the living room.

As for Alyson, Blaze saw her home last night. Their house is quite crowded already, and it isn’t big enough to fit this many people. He was really thinking of finding a bigger place or extending this house.

Blaze is exhausted from all the fighting, so he is still deep in his sleep when Zero wakes up.

Zero has received assignments from Blaze to train his body and skill. It doesn’t really have a mind of reasoning, so Zero only does what it is told.

It stands up in a mechanical way, almost inhuman, and sees Blaze lying in his bed with his calming breathing. It doesn’t say anything and leaves the room.

The clone removes its clothes, leaving on the underwear, and starts training.

Blaze didn’t give it too much complex training regime. As Zero does not have a mind of its own, complex training may bring negative results. So the only training Blaze ordered Zero to do were push-ups, crunches, squats, and running.

Thirty minutes of push-ups. Thirty minutes of crunches. Thirty minutes of squats. And thirty minutes of running.

Zero starts with the push-ups first.

Its body is Blaze’s original body with maximum potential. It is how his body is supposed to be if he grew up with sufficient food and nutrients. However, it is not Blaze’s body in its maximum development state.

It has potential, yes. But that potential can still be improved.

At the start, Zero has no issue doing push-ups. But it starts to slow down after the tenth push-up. Zero can feel the strain his body weight is putting on his muscles.

First is the biceps. These two muscle organizations become hot and tired, feeling the energy burning from the core of their tissues.

And then the fatigue comes for the shoulder. Its shoulder blades feel like cutting into its own flesh, and the strength within it diminishes one by one.

The body reacts naturally and begins to produce sweat to cool down the biological mechanism.

Zero’s two arms start shaking like crazy when he reaches the thirtieth push-up. This body is not familiar with heavy and high-intensity training.

But Zero doesn’t stop and continues to do as it was told. It lowers the body to do the next push-up. Zero’s entire body produces heat like a smoking jerky, sweat covers its skin, which makes the surface glow like matte paint.

Zero’s breathing stays calm and deep, letting air flow directly to the diaphragm. Because it has no emotion and, therefore, no reaction to the discomfort and fatigue of the training.

Zero is able to maintain perfect breathing and perfect technique throughout the push-up.

For the technique, Blaze has already allowed its access to the internet inside the house so Zero can examine and learn new techniques at every time.

It may not have a reasoning section, but it definitely has a memory. Zero remembers all the techniques it watched last night and applied them accordingly to its training.

After fifteen minutes, Zero’s speed slows down even more. Previously, Zero’s body may have been shaking, but it could at least finish the push-up. But now, when Zero goes down, it can’t even go back up.

That doesn’t stop it from keeping on trying, though. For the last fifteen minutes, going through excruciating muscle pain, Zero is able to accomplish a dozen more push-ups.

When it finishes, Zero immediately stands up and begins crunching.

Crunches are much easier than push-ups, so Zero is just doing it nonstop. It can feel the burning sensation on its abdomen after five minutes of training.

Zero continues without making a single sound, and he finishes the thirty minutes easily.

The third are squats. The second heaviest of the three training.

It goes similar to the previous two, easy at the beginning and becoming harder as the time goes on. This time, the most tired muscle is the hamstring. Zero can feel its legs give out, which causes it to fall down on its butt around minute twenty.

Zero sits up like it’s nothing and tries to squat again. This time make sure it won’t fall by placing a hand on the wall for reinforcement.

When Zero finishes, its two legs feel like noodles that can discombobulate themselves at any time.

But that is only the beginning. Now it has to run for thirty minutes more.

Zero puts on Blaze’s tracksuit and leaves the house.

A non-stop continuous thirty-minute run.

For an Awakened or a well-trained athlete, that thirty minutes is nothing. But for this untrained body, it may pose a substantial challenge.

And away Zero goes.

In the vast empty space of the desert, one lonely soul runs on the hot cement road.

The weather is excruciatingly hot. The air is overly dry, and the ground is boiling. Sweats are rolling on Zero’s face, trying their best to cool its body temperature.

Zero’s legs are still tired from the previous training. It wobbles with every step but holds on every time. And then, the sun rises on the horizon from afar. The high temperature now becomes even hotter with the sunlight.

Zero continues on its journey.

A motorbike runs past him. Suddenly, it slows down and backs up, stopping beside Zero.

A girl in a red jacket with a giant helmet that covers her entire face is riding the bike.

"You’re up already?" June lifts up her helmet’s visor.

Zero doesn’t answer her and continues its training.
