I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 86: Spellbook
As Francois suggested, he takes the Core away for exactly ten minutes, and when he gets back, the Snake’s Core has turned from a large palm-sized pearl to ten spherical pills being put inside of a wooden box.
Ten exact pills that are the same size as each other. It glows a green color with the interior filled with free-flowing green energy that is mixed with some kind of liquid. It resembles a lava lamp a lot.
Francois sits down beside Blaze and places the wooden box in front of him with ten green pills inside.
"Your Core is superb, Blaze. Its condition is almost perfect. Usually an E-rank Core like this can yield around three to five pills.
If it’s perfect, I may have been able to make at least thirteen pills for sure."
Blaze picks up one of the pills. It is large and smooth, exactly like a glowing marble.
[Identify Snake’s Extraction]
[Mind Crawler’s Extraction]
- Affinity to Thunder Force: 0.7%
- Affinity to Genesis Legion: 2.5%
- Affinity to Beast’s Link: 0.3%
- Affinity to Lightning Ascension: 0.2%
There’s nothing wrong with these Extractions. The System confirms it. But its affinity with Blaze’s power is so poor, it makes Blaze consider if it’s even wise to keep it.
These Extractions can be sold for a really high price in the market. Or Blaze can sell it to someone he knows. Like the Liberty Sons, they offered to buy from Blaze previously.
But credit isn’t something that Blaze is concerned of at the moment. He still has more than one million credits from looting the Roof.
Blaze puts the pill back into the box. He rests his chin on one arm and rubs his jaw, pretending to think of something very serious.
"How do I know you didn’t just hide some away?"
Francois rolls his eyes again.
"An establishment that does shady business will sooner or later be destroyed. Either becoming bankrupt or killed by their own customer.
But that is only a saying.
I think you will be much more assured after seeing this."
Francois rolls his right sleeve higher, revealing a yellow symbol on his arm. The symbol of the Pocket Center with the two letters "PC."
Blaze recognizes this type of mark. It is similar to the Blood Oath but the energy that contributes to it is similar to that of the soul.
This should be the Soul Oath that the Celestial Contract also has. Its energy is actually quite a bit weaker than Blaze’s Soul Slave mark.
One is an oath of conduct.
While the other is a mark of ownership.
The difference is obviously night and day.
"So... you saw this symbol before."
Francois says.
"Not exactly. But I did see a similar type of energy. This symbol is bound to your soul, right?"
Blaze says.
Francois nods, then rolls down his sleeves.
"We, Conductors in the Pocket Center, have all sworn an oath to never lie, trick, or force a deal. What we tell you when conducting the extraction must be exactly what we are going to do."
"So how were you able to lie about the commission rate?"
Veins bulge on Francois’s forehead. He is really getting tired of dealing with this kid.
"We cannot lie when inspecting the characteristics of anything related to the deal or what the deal is going to be. That’s the truth."
"But everything else is within range, am I right?"
Francois nods in defeat.
Blaze observes the old man silently. Even though he tries to paint himself in a deceitful and selfish personality. Francois has no reason to answer at all.
If it is true that he cannot lie, all he has to do to counteract this is to not say anything.
Blaze can also easily find out if everything he just said is a lie by checking with other Conductors.
Francois seems too wise to be doing something stupid like this.
"You are kinder than you’re trying to act, Francois."
"What are you talking about? Every man for himself, boy."
Blaze smiles, throwing three pills to Francois. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
The old man catches them and immediately hides them inside his sleeves.
"Thirty percent? What a generous young man! We could have made this the percentage from the beginning!"
"This is a one-time only to show my gratitude and friendliness.
We will be doing business for a long time, so being stingy has no benefit."
The old man nods.
"You are a bright boy. I’ll have something to show you my gratitude as well. Take this."
Francois takes out a card and gives it to Blaze.
"It’s a Conductor Card. Swipe it before entering the doors, and you will be transferred straight to me."
A thin card that is made out of unknown materials. It is rough to touch with chaotic patterns engraved on its surface.
On one side of the card is the PC symbol, while on the other is a portrait of an old man with white hair, Francois himself.
Blaze puts the card inside the Diametric Cube.
"Do you accept Extractions in exchange for credit?"
"We don’t use any type of currency in Pocket Center. Either you exchange the extraction with something else of equal value or services from the Conductor."
"Then what kind of services do you provide?"
Blaze has heard that the Pocket Center is a place for everything. Extracting, selling materials, and even making special equipment.
Naturally, he wants to know if Francois dabbles in these professions.
"Unfortunately, boy. I don’t sell any type of items. And I doubt that my specialty will be useful to you."
"Oh? So you do have one. Why don’t you tell me? I might have a use for it."
"You really are persistent, boy.
Alright. I will let you have a look."
Francois flicks his finger again, and a stack of books appears on the table.
"Take a peek."
There are three books in total. Blaze picks them up one by one.
The first is an almost brand-new book with a leather cover. The book has a black color and aggressive, bumpy patterns running across the cover surface.
The second one has a beige-colored cover with a smooth surface and soft curves around its edge. It has a painting of a green tree in the front and words of an unknown language written in the back.
The third is the smallest book, half the size of a normal book. It has the picture of a little girl, facing away from the viewer and looking at a white moon afar.

Blaze tries to keep his cool and hides all his emotions all the way. A new window appears, he now has even more toys to mess around with.
He pretends to be bewildered and looks over to Francois.
"What is this? You sell books?"
"Hehe. So you don’t know about them. These are not normal books.
These are spell books."
