I Play Dungeons in the Police Station-Chapter 328 - 209: Feifei Terminates Her Contract
"Is it really that simple?"
Li Xiang is the type who will get to the bottom of things, especially when it comes to his girlfriend. He couldn’t stand by if the agency was bullying her — he would make them pay.
The online discussions about the matter were many, and the vast majority of Lin Feifei’s fans stood by her side. But certain things made Li Xiang feel that there was more to the issue than met the eye.
Take Lin Feifei’s nationwide tour finale, where unexpected incidents occurred.
Fans first noticed promotional posters at the concert entrance had been vandalized. Then, issues arose with the stage that delayed the concert from its planned 9 p.m. start to 10:30 p.m.
The entire audience demanded refunds, damaging Lin Feifei’s image.
Many of her fans had traveled long distances, flying out, driving, adjusting their schedules, even taking leave, to attend her concert. They ended up waiting nearly two hours for nothing.
Since the news of Lin Feifei’s contract termination came out, dissatisfaction with the agency was evident, linking these incidents together.
Speculation arose that the agency was suppressing Lin Feifei.
After so many concerts without equipment failure, why did it only happen at the last show?
This marred the perfect end of her nationwide tour.
For such a big event like a concert, all equipment would be thoroughly tested beforehand, but it malfunctioned at the start, leaving fans frustrated.
"The reason I signed with the agency was because of Yue Zheng. Now that everything is over, it’s time for me to leave."
Lin Feifei said nonchalantly, though underneath her strong exterior lay a multitude of grievances.
Just then, Lin Feifei’s phone rang. She glanced at it and hung up.
But soon, it rang again.
Hung up.
The call came again.
"Who is it?"
"The agent."
"Pick it up."
With no choice, Lin Feifei answered the phone.
"Feifei, where are you now?"
"I don’t think my location has anything to do with the company anymore."
"Don’t be like this, Feifei, calm down. I know the company’s renewal terms have been tough for you, but it’s better than going solo. Look at what you’re doing now: violating rules by unilaterally terminating your contract on W-blog, and now announcing a new relationship. This is going to be destructive for your career."
"You don’t have to worry about my affairs. You know the dirty things the company has done better than I do. Don’t think just because I’m a young girl I can be easily bullied. That’s impossible, so don’t call me in the future. At worst, I’ll be blacklisted for a year."
After saying this, Lin Feifei hung up and said apologetically to Li Xiang, "I didn’t want to worry you. There’s nothing much going on. The company wants to renew my contract to continue exploiting me, and I refused. There’s still a year left, and they couldn’t wait. They’ve been hitting me from all angles. But it’s fine, I’m prepared to be blacklisted. After all, there’s only one year left on my contract. Later on, I’ll start my own studio, release singles, maybe become an internet influencer."
"Feifei, don’t worry. Now that I’m back, I won’t let anyone bully you!"
"It’s fine, actually this way is better. I don’t have to go on tours, I can take a year off and spend more time with you. Isn’t that nice?"
"Of course, I’m happy to be with you."
Leaving the airport, the two headed straight onto the highway, driving back to Jinghai.
After two months away, Li Xiang expected his apartment to be covered in dust, but upon returning, he discovered it wasn’t so. There were signs someone had been living there.
"Have you been here?"
Lin Feifei had a key to his place — he’d given it to her before he went abroad.
"Mhm, with the contract dispute, reporters blocked my place. I found it annoying and hid out here for a few days."
She was worn out from the chaos, looking for a quiet place to hide. Li Xiang’s place was her first choice. Who would expect her to stay in a rented apartment in a village in the city?
"Then just continue hiding here."
As soon as they entered the room, Li Xiang cornered Lin Feifei against the wall, his intense masculine aura making her breath grow heavy.
The thrill of newfound affection after two months apart took over as soon as they reached home, leading to a deep and passionate kiss.
-----------------
In the following days, Li Xiang didn’t rush to report to the police station but decided to spend several days with Lin Feifei and also bought some things to take home to visit his parents.
Back home, Li Xiang’s mom subtly asked about their marriage plans, leaving Lin Feifei’s face perpetually flushed and embarrassed. Unable to withstand his mother’s enthusiasm, they hurried back to Jinghai.
After living a few days in the rented room, Li Xiang realized the small village apartment he had rented for three years wasn’t spacious enough anymore.
When he was single, it was fine to live there, but now with Lin Feifei and her growing belongings, the space felt cramped.
So they decided to look for a bigger place to rent.
Back when he was an auxiliary police officer, the salary was low, and he could only afford housing costs of five to six hundred. Now, his salary surpassed ten thousand, particularly with higher pay during international assignments. It was time to improve their living environment.
More importantly, he didn’t want Lin Feifei to suffer with him.
They checked out a few apartments with an agent, and Li Xiang found one he liked.
"This apartment in Central Ring Garden was bought as a wedding home. The young couple moved abroad, so they asked us to rent it out. It’s fully furnished — you can move in with a suitcase."
Li Xiang took Lin Feifei to see the apartment with the agent. Indeed, it was nicely decorated better than anything they had seen thus far, and he liked it immediately.
Being a wedding home, it hadn’t been lived in much, and they would be the first tenants, meaning everything was new.
"Feifei, what do you think?"
"It’s great. How much is it a month?"
It was Lin Feifei’s first time asking about the rent price, indicating she was pretty satisfied with the place.
"It’s 3500 a month."
"So expensive?"
Li Xiang finally understood why the apartment hadn’t been rented out. At 3500, the rent was steep; when he was an auxiliary police officer, his entire salary wouldn’t cover it.
"As you can see, it’s a new home with all facilities included. Naturally, the price will be a bit higher."
Li Xiang glanced at Lin Feifei, seeing she was pleased, so he started bargaining with the agent, "Lower it a bit, 2500 and I’ll rent it."
"No way, I’d have rented it out already at 2500. If you’re sincere, maybe 3400, a hundred off."
"A hundred? That’s too little. Even at 3400, it’s expensive. Few would pay so much in rent. Rent to us for three thousand; the sooner you rent it out, the sooner you get income. It’s just empty otherwise."
After some haggling, they settled on 3200 per month.
Next up was moving and cleaning. Li Xiang’s vehicle had more space than Lin Feifei’s and was crucial for moving. Once they closed out of the village rental, the former landlord was reluctant to see him go.
After all, three years built some sentiment.
The new home at Central Ring Garden was conveniently close to his workplace at the city bureau, making his commute easier.
While they were joyfully tidying up, Li Xiang’s phone rang.
"Hello, this is International Logistics; you have a package that’s arrived. Please come pick it up when you have time."
Li Xiang knew it was the things he had mailed back.
Returning home, he had many things not convenient to carry, so he shipped them instead, including Shengjiao’s ashes.
The girl who once took a bullet for him, he promised to bring her home. Now they were finally back.
