I Refused To Be Reincarnated-Chapter 634: From Grimoire to Fairy: Lulu’s Birth
Chapter 634: From Grimoire to Fairy: Lulu’s Birth
While a tsunami of shock rumbled in Adam’s mind, the small fairy gripped his index finger and placed it against her warm forehead. Then, her soft voice echoed. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Thank you for registering so many languages and beasts on my pages. Now that I’m more than a book, I’ll do my best to help you. So, please, give me a name." She clenched her fists before her puffed cheeks to show her motivation.
"Yes?" Adam answered absentmindedly, a silence lingering for a few seconds.
As surreal as Luna’s achievement was, he took this time to digest it and come to a close with something he had never considered: to create life from inanimate objects.
Of course, he knew she could create organic lives, but that fairy was something else entirely. Did she succeed because of the books’ materials? Was it related to the enigmatic rank or the brimming life force weaved into their enchantments?
Many questions hustled in his brain, his breath growing ragged with each added layer of mystery. He was so curious! Could he become that skilled one day, too?
’I can only focus on improving.’ His eyes regained focus with a sharp glint as he grinned.
The summit of craftsmanship grew higher, but it made his soul tremble in delight.
Meanwhile, the fairy gazed at him with a worried frown. "Are you alright?" Slightly disappointed, she lowered her face. "I-I thought you would kiss me like you did when you first got the grimoire lingua."
"PFTT. Cough, cough." He almost choked as the twenty-three-year-old memory resurfaced. He had indeed done that! But things were different. It was a book, while she was...
He observed her cute features, pointed ears, and bright blue wings covered in magical yet natural patterns. Well, she was a living being, and her origin as a series of grimoires didn’t matter to him.
With a final cough, he brought her closer to his face and gently patted her head. "That would be weird, wouldn’t it? But I have a suitable name for you. What do you think about Lulu? It echoes Luna’s name and has a cute feel fitting your appearance."
"Lulu, Lulu..." the fairy muttered before she raised her face, the broad smile curving her lips illuminating the room. "I’m Lulu!" She raised her fist with a satisfied chuckle.
"I’m glad you like it." Adam returned her smile. "But let’s delve a little more into your abilities."
Lulu nodded, her face flushed and her voice a delighted chirp. "Anything the four grimoires could do, I can do it better! Our knowledge is still shared, except that I’m not limited anymore. Techniques, spells, theories, and crafting methods—I can record, compile, and derive everything into perfected volumes." She planted her fists on her hips and raised her nose in pride. "In short, the more knowledge I absorb, the more exquisite it becomes."
Adam’s pupils constricted. Not only was her explanation much clearer than the description he had read, but it was powerful... too powerful. No more time wasted reading or months of waiting for the fusion pool to combine volumes; she could do everything and share the knowledge passively.
Understanding all the perks, his hand subconsciously moved toward his lips...
Without care, he kissed Lulu’s forehead and exploded into boisterous laughter. "I knew the grimoires were my most valuable treasures, and you’re the best! Let’s work together to redefine the limits of cultivation and magic, Lulu!"
"Hehehe." She giggled cutely and hugged his cheeks with her small arms. "I see a lot of books here. I can start compiling them if you want. You can expect results by tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?!" Adam gasped as he glanced at the maze of books reaching the ceiling. There must be several hundred thousand, if not millions, on this library’s floor. Yet, she only needed a single day?
"Incredible... Let’s start now! We can do the same with the first floor tomorrow." He shook his head. "You can’t work without pause. We’ll continue with the first floor when you feel fresh."
Lulu twirled a lock of hair around her fingers, slightly blushing. Even if she had taken form, she was still a tool. Yet, Adam cared for her? She didn’t know why, but her chest rose faster, and a delightful sensation submerged her. Perhaps she could become more than an item under Adam’s genuine care.
"Someone..." She muttered under her breath, finding the concept familiar yet foreign when applied to her.
"Thank you." She rolled her sleeves up and slapped her cheeks with a steely glint, putting those thoughts aside to carry her mission first. "I’ll start now. Please use your time on something else."
Adam watched her fly over the walls of knowledge and raise her hand. As if animated by a will, the books opened one after another, filling his nose with the scent of yellowed parchments and faint traces of ink.
Then, they waltz around her, the characters, the author’s understandings, emotions, and the underlying meaning hidden behind each materialising with a distinct sound. They melded into an intricate ballade that resonated with his soul as her eyes flashed with knowledge that seeped into his mind.
He nodded after a few minutes of amazement and heeded Lulu’s advice about using his time for something else... like meeting the two life forces bolting towards the library.
BAM
Just as he returned to the first floor, the door slammed open. A golden and violet blur lunged at him, two pairs of arms wrapping around his neck. He felt Misha’s warm face on his chest first before Xiel Lian’s two soft mounds engulfed his head.
His face reddened as he cursed. "What are you doing? Get off, you demonic temptress!"
Misha’s voice cracked into a sharp, feline hiss, melding disbelief and suppressed anger as her hands shifted into paws. She pushed on Xie Lian’s side, showing her teeth. "Go away, senior sister. That’s my first and last warning."
Xie Lian’s eyes widened. She knew about Adam’s reactions, but why was his sister so defensive? "Let me hug him for a second. I thought we would all die today."
Misha snapped her narrowed eyes toward Adam, the meaning clear: push her back.
Clicking his tongue, he pressed on Xie Lian’s shoulders, lowering her. "Mind my height if you want a hug!"
Then, he gazed at Misha, whose face slightly relaxed. He pressed his forehead against hers with a bright smile.
She smiled back, her warm, relieved sigh blowing a centimeter from his face. "I-I was scared something happened to you." She paused, relaxing her face against his shoulder. "But I knew you’d win."
"Of course I did. Do you know why?" He ran his hand in her golden hair with a grin. "Because I knew I could be the best demon hunter."
