Chapter 655: Ruler Of The Sky: Blueprint One

After a breakfast filled with hearty discussions, culinary discoveries, and hopeful plans for the future, Misha and Xie Lian left for the cultivation rooms to begin their daily training.

Although the boosting formations functioned at minimal capacity, they enjoyed the isolated place and soft cultivation cushions. Entering the room also shifted their mindsets. They came to train; everything else was pushed aside as a distraction.

As they sat cross-legged and closed their eyes, Adam returned to the library since a part of his mind constantly refined his cells.

The moment he entered, Lulu flew to his palm from one of the many shelves. Her smile brightened the solemn calligraphies painted in bold characters along the walls.

"Good morning, Adam!" She clenched her fist, a cute expression of seriousness creasing her brow. "You made good progress on your project yesterday. I’m eager to see what you’ll add next."

Adam patted her little cheek, nodding. "Morning, Lulu. I’ve waited to build this bastion for eleven years and want to do the initial work on my own."

Lulu’s smile broadened as she flew to his hair. Seated like a bird in its nest, she raised an eager fist. "Let your imagination run wild. I’m sure you can create something incredible without my help. But let me optimise it slightly to save on materials once you’re done."

"Thank you for understanding." He sat on his desk, glancing at yesterday’s broad parchment.

Dense drawings and notes covered every yellowed inch in blue ink, making him scratch his head, then laugh. "I’ll need a few hundred more of these. But first!"

He noted the bottom of the parchment with a 1, produced a new one, and penned in bold underscored letters: Adam’s ultimate flying bastion project: The Ruler Of The Sky.

With a satisfied grin, he carefully placed the first two pages on the side before his eyes narrowed in focus.

His hand blurred, the quill producing screeching noises on the following parchments. Ink splashed into magic circles, intricate pipped tunnels, and energy storages.

Absorbed by his work, he didn’t realise how fast the high noon sun dipped behind the horizon until Lulu chuckled in warning.

"That’s enough for today, Adam. You should leave before Misha drags you out by the ear."

"Already?" Starlight illuminated his ink-stained face as he scratched his head. "Time sure flies. Thank you for your reminder."

He passed his palm over his face, warm vapor moistening and cleaning it. Smoothing his regal robes and adjusting his hair, he walked to the exit.

However, Lulu’s voice drew his attention back. "I’ve completed your first martial technique: the scouting one. You can browse it whenever you want." She rolled her sleeves, eager to continue. "Mobility comes next. It should take anywhere between two to six months."

Adam’s eyes lit up, his lips curling into a grin. "Excellent. Take your time, though. We have twenty months before I can cultivate properly, so let’s aim for absolute perfection."

He knew she could come up with decent techniques in a week or two. But with the library’s vast pool and philosophical teachings, it’d be a waste not to push the boundaries of martial arts to the absolute limit.

As for his cultivation technique? She had optimised something that already had little place for improvement. After all, he had to concede how clever the void emperor was. No, he was more than clever. He was a visionary who broke the codes of mysticism to base his work on physics and astronomy’s unbending laws—things she excelled at.

’But did he really revolutionise cultivation?’ He tucked his fingers around his chin as he left the library.

A cultivator’s journey was one of understanding nature and cosmic forces. Only after one did, could he surpass them to walk a step closer to the heavens. So, fundamentally, the emperor had applied these concepts with more rigor.

’Honestly, I don’t see how one can revolutionise cultivation.’ A frown creased his brow before he shook his head. ’I don’t need to, anyway. I only want to merge it with magic.’

But that wouldn’t happen before a long, long time. For now, Misha and Xie Lian first.

A smile replaced his frown as he bolted down the corridors to the kitchen. Just like this morning, they spoke about cultivation—how Xie Lian could already feel her strength grow after four years of stagnation, or how Misha’s dan tian was already a step away from reaching the next realm.

On his side, he told them about The Ruler Of The Sky, causing their eyes to sparkle.

"Let me handle the interior! The palace is great, but we have a lot of free land. I want to build a city in case we invite people!" Misha leapt on the table, her face flushed.

However, he rolled his eyes. "What people? It’s only the three of us." He raised a brow. "Shen Wu, Mei Lan, and the other elders can join us later, though. Anyway, we don’t need a town."

"Humph. Don’t you have friends from the magical world, or do you plan to let thousands of youths invade the palace?" She raised two fingers, her voice solemn. "First, you can’t lower your prestige by inviting them to lodge with us. The noise alone will distract you from training."

She lowered the first finger, her eyes narrowing into determined slits. "Second, I’m not letting men or women we don’t know run around our quarters. It’s basic decency."

Adam frowned. The first point—he could understand. Not the prestige since he didn’t care about that, but the noise would indeed distract him. However, the second? If she didn’t want to deal with troubles created by men, why ban women, too?

"Jealous?" He muttered, confused. She hadn’t expressed these concerns in the sect, making them strange.

"You wish." Misha rolled her eyes. "They’re as dangerous as men, trust me. One moment she’s smiling, the next crying in your arms about her sick father or whatnot. Before you realise it, she’s holding a baby and yelling on every roof that you’re the father, even if you’ve never touched her."

"They wouldn’t." He shuddered, imagining the scene. "Right?"

Xie Lian’s brow rose, a smirk playing on her lips. "That’s mild. I’ve seen and heard stories that would make your stomach churn. Don’t underestimate women, boy." She shrugged and shook her head. "Lucky they’re a minority, but we’re never safe enough, don’t you agree?"

"That’s my point." Misha nodded. "Believe it or not, the more power you hold, the more profiteer you’ll attract, Adam. The gender doesn’t matter. Their goal is the same."

Adam sighed, somewhat agreeing that danger could come from anywhere. Still, he didn’t have experiences with these sorts of people. After all, the day they tried to rip him off was, more often than not, the day of their funerals...

"You know what? No one except our close friends in the palace. You can build a city even if I doubt it’ll get many inhabitants aside from a few thousand college students."

"Yay!" Misha raised her fist, her eyes curving in delight. "Count on me to bring my family’s tech into the blessed land in a few years!"

Adam smiled at her. As long as it made her happy, why would he insist?

Meanwhile, Xie Lian pointed at the ring around the bastion. "I have an idea. But I’ll need a few days’ pondering to refine and present it."

He nodded. "The ring is last since it requires too many materials, so take your time." He clapped his hands to wrap up the discussion. "Alright, ladies. Time to get some sweet sleep, or you’ll age faster."

Misha and Xie Lian stuck their tongues out before they rushed to the door with lighthearted chuckles.
