I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.-Chapter 22: when will you leave?
A few days ago.
Having just separated from Atheline after she brought him back home from the festivities, Lilith couldn’t bring herself to calm down.
The possibility of meeting him again and again without him looking at her vigilantly had made her heart skip a beat every time.
Her plan had worked. Cozying up to him had been a better way than straight-up kidnapping him.
She didn’t want him to hate her, that would break her heart but if he didn’t love her then she would rather have his hate than nothing at all.
’Emotions are still emotions positive or negative’
She lay down on her stomach on the bed her feet rhythmically kicking the air as she looked down at the file that had been brought over by one of her many subordinates.
She couldn’t care to remember who they were since they always ended up dead faster than flies.
ATHELINE SUNBLADE.
"His name just sounds perfect," she whispered out loud as though whispering a sacred hymn.
His face looked at her in pure confusion and the occasional laughs that escaped him when he said a joke that didn’t make sense to her.
’He loves laughing a lot’
She opened the file, and it had his likes, schedules, and everything from his childhood to adulthood that would normally be ignored.
Investigating him had been hard since almost everything about him had been too hidden and the man was just too cautious for his own good.
’This is why I want him, he’ll be fun to tame’
She pushed the thought behind her and continued reading obsessively sometimes going over the same detail more than three times just to get that feeling of knowing him intimately.
’Thank the goddess he’s never had any close relations with a woman he must have been waiting for me to come and whisk him away. How romantic. The moon goddess must have prepared him only for me.’
She chuckled softly to herself. Her eyes narrowed lost in thought.
’I miss him already. I hope he gets my message soon, I don’t want to wait for long’
She giggled to herself as she thought of their times together and how romantic they had been.
The small smile on her face vanished when what he said during the festive season crossed her mind.
She threw the paper she was holding away a sudden anger overcoming her. She sat up still not satiated with her little release and got out of bed.
She picked up the wine glass on the nightstand before flinging it across the room.
Her chest moved up and down as she tried to calm her budding anger.
"He said he’ll run..." she burst into maniacal laughter,"...he’ll run... how dare he?"
The sounds of things falling and shattering glass filled the room as she swept every time on the nightstand before her anger subsided.
She stopped and looked down at the destruction she had caused and sighed heavily.
"How stupid.. of course he can’t run... but what if.." she shook her head in denial at her own whispers," No, I can’t trust him, what if someone hurts him...yes... I should probably put a tracking spell on him...he’ll get angry....No...but I’m doing this for his own good....yes..this is what you do when you love someone... he’s too kind for this world some other woman will try to take him away from me..I’LL KILL THEM! ALL OF THEM!"
Her nonsensical rumbles were only heard by the walls of her simple room in the camp.
After coming to a decision she put on her shoes and stood in front of the mirror to make sure she looked presentable before walking out of her room.
Her feet led her out of her room to her makeshift study in the camp. Outside, the shouts from her warriors reached her but Lilith was too occupied to care.
She opened the second drawer on the right of her desk and started to rummage through it.
A few seconds later she pulled out a small, old black box and placed it carefully on the table.
She took a seat and opened the box. Inside lay a plain golden chain surrounded by velvet. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"You should give this to the one you marry," her mother’s calm voice rang in her ear," I wish I could give it to your father but I’m only an unwanted commoner."
Lilith had laid her head on her lap looking up at her mothers grief striken face. Around them, the smell of dust, old mold, and poverty clung to the air, sighs of their neglect.
Her mother had been nothing but a maid in the palace and had caught the king’s eye for her beauty. As expected he went ahead and raped her but her foolish mother had fallen in love even after being thrown away.
She cut the tip of her finger and a drop of blood fell on the chain. Dark Aether wrapped around the neck chain as her blood and magic merged into the chain.
A small dark glow appeared at the clasp of the chain before it returned to normal.
"Perfect," she said in satisfaction.
Contrary to the naked eye, she could see her Aether wrapped around the chain in dark tendrils like a snake. This was only visible to her unless the person who saw it was stronger than her.
She chuckled to herself at that. She has never met anyone stronger than her and she doubted there would ever be.
The door being knocked startled her out of her reverie. She closed the box and returned it to the drawer before righting herself.
The smile and love-struck face was replaced by the coldness she has always worn.
"Come in?"
The door was pushed open and Giah walked in. She closed the door behind her and came to a stop before Lilith.
"When will you be going back your majesty?" She asked her eyes scrutinising her.
"Next week, I know I’ve stayed here too long," she said in resignation.
The thought of leaving him made her heart hurt but she had a kingdom to run and she couldn’t let what she worked so hard to obtain fall out of place just because she wasn’t there.
She had not made thorough preparation when she left.
"The next envoy will be arriving the day after tomorrow to help with the organisation of the upcoming wedding."
Lilith nodded her thoughts wondering a little.
"Make it as spectacular as possible, I want the world to know I’m getting married and my spouse will get the best treatment."
"Yes, your majesty."
Giah bowed and left the tent.
