The two were ready to cause havoc. The shuriken Yui had tossed were already working their magic—more than seven of her clones circled the battlefield, each one supporting Ren as he clashed left and right. At times, he didn’t even have time to know where to defend, but his sister teleported him again and again.
The three wolf leaders not only had to keep the siblings under control, but also contend with the bear and the water mage, who pressured them from a distance. Spears of ice hurtled through the air like metal blades, sharp enough to slice through demons and lesser wolves behind the four great ones.
Meanwhile, Kiel prevented any others from joining the battle. His massive axe cleaved through enemies, the area around him soaked in red.
Ren suddenly leapt into the sky, creating several footholds of light that guided him to the perfect spot for his descent. His blade remained in its sheath, his hand resting over it, ready to release the energy he had stored.
He readied Shōmetsu Iai, a skill that amplified his next strike through a perfect draw. In a flash, he teleported above the black wolf—the one that had punched through one of Yui’s clones. The beast was too preoccupied to notice the boy above.
Ren then activated Amaterasu no Ketsui.
His blade was unleashed within milliseconds. The energy burst forward, infusing itself with sunfire—it dealt both burning and spiritual damage to the wolf. The black wolf, a user of darkness magic, was Ren’s perfect opponent.
Yui, meanwhile, was locked in battle with the gray wolf, which had somehow managed to identify her real body among the clones.
But it was fine. Her best ability, Onna Kage, was slowly reducing the gray wolf’s accuracy. The creature couldn’t even destroy the last clone dancing around it.
Yui smiled, feeling that she was finally being useful. She knew she couldn’t kill the wolf alone, but she had Ren.
Ren had already severed the black wolf’s arm. With a flick of her wrist, Yui threw a kunai toward his location, warping him behind the gray wolf. The only sound that followed was the yelp of the beast as its back was sliced open.
While the siblings handled two of the wolves, Brian was still slugging it out with the third. He punched through shield after shield, but no matter how hard he struck, the barrier regenerated—each time the wolf created another to replace the last.
The beast, sensing danger to its companions, wanted to retreat and help, but it was the designated defender.
"You’re not leaving. You’ll be the first to fall—just wait!" Brian shouted, his voice filled with frustration.
He was losing patience, especially after seeing that Ren and Yui were already close to killing two of the wolves, while he hadn’t even managed to land a solid blow on his.
Above them, the two dragons unleashed powerful, primal flames that kept the enemy forces divided. Stormwing and his companions were also doing their part, conjuring massive typhoons laced with electricity, driving back the strongest of the demons. Their goal was clear: keep the enemies away from the heroes long enough for them to defeat the wolves.
Then, without warning, a portal opened deep within the backlines of the demon army.
Everyone paused.
The moment it appeared, an overwhelming power surged through the battlefield. It was a force unlike anything felt before—by hero or monster.
"What the hell is that?" Brian shouted, even as he staggered slightly, pushed back by the sheer pressure despite the distance.
"It feels the same... as when I met the Spirit of Light..." Ren called out, his voice tinged with curiosity and dread. He couldn’t understand what the demons had done to summon or create such a powerful presence.
All eyes turned toward the back of the demon camp.
There, two figures stood imposingly.
Both had familiar faces, but their bodies were no longer the same. One stood tall and muscular, two horns curving from his head, his frame thick with bulging muscle. The other was draped in a dark robe, half his face disfigured, with glowing green eyes that pierced through the haze of war.
"What did you do!? What did you do to them!?" Brian roared, slamming his fists against the enemy wards with wild fury. He punched through barrier after barrier, his rage burning hotter with each step forward.
"What happened to you, Jon and Geo? Why are you working with them?"
