Chapter 152: This is Absurd

~AMBROSE’S POV~

"Now that I have your attention, I bring word from our Goddess." Phera narrowed her eyes and shifted them from face to face of all the council members in the room. "A darkness is rising and the final war is coming. History is repeating itself. A tale you do not know, one long forgotten will be given on the night of the Eclipse Gala."

She paused before continuing, letting them resonate with her promise of war.

"What do you mean a darkness is rising? Is it the vampires? Are they coming for us here?"

She shot him a threatening glare, forcing him to button up really quickly.

"It is not the vampires you need fear, but the one who created them. He will come; his sole purpose is to end life on this plane. To destroy those who do not worship his father. Cerberus God of Darkness and Death. He will bring total decimation to this world."

"The one who created them? Who is that?" a woman asked.

"He is called Ezelreth and he is The DarkChild, the son of a god." She answered,

"What do we have to do to beat him?"

"How is this happening?"

Questions of similar meaning were flying around the room like winged rats.

Until General Morrison’s loud ass mouth opened saying something useless as usual, "How can we trust your information? Or you? You’re a stranger in our midst, just appearing out of nowhere with rumors of war?"

Her eyes narrowed and the intensity of her glare sharpened. Her annoyance screamed louder than the silence that followed his question.

"You dare question me mortal." And within the blink of an eye, she appeared in front of him. Claiming the very air he was breathing,

Her eyes blazed like a roaring fire. Her 8 tails flared with flames that whipped with her tail. He went from being a beautiful ethereal white fox, to a flaming beast from hell.

It was incredible, honestly. I’ve never seen anything like this before. It was unbelievable. The sheer magnitude of her fire was magnificent.

They quieted in awe.

"What have you to offer your goddess? Besides a worthless weak daughter and two cents nobody wants or needs. Feeble beings like you are we are in this mess to begin with." Phera’s words were as sharp as the meaning behind her insult. And it was all I could to hold back my laugh.

Phera certainly didn’t consider the men in this room with me to be worth much. At this point I was beginning to agree.

"Well, I never..." Morrison began, but I interrupted. "And if you keep opening your mouth instead of your ears, you’ll never get a chance to finish that sentence. What she has to say is very important. Your daughter won’t have an alpha to marry if you keep at this."

He bit down hard but quieted and sat down.

"As I was saying." Phera continued "History is repeating itself and a darkness rises, a new allyship will be made in order to save your people. The vampires are open to making an alliance, they will arrive soon to discuss terms. This is not up for negotiation, unless you wish to die. And doom the world with you."

"That’s absurd!" they yelled.

"Impossible!" they shouted.

"Absolutely not!" They howled!

The room erupted into anger and chaos.

"SILENCE!" I stood up and yelled. I let more out full tilt. The room stilled as everyone dropped their heads in obedience.

"This alliance will be made; the survival of our species is more important than our petty feelings. I say this as your Alpha King and the son to the late King and Queen." I let my authority fill the room, silencing any notion of defiance.

"Does this have something to do with the guest you’ve been keeping in your wing?" Luna Dawn asked.

All of the eyes in the room shifted toward her. And I was in a delicate place right now. Lying would be a problem, but admitting would open doors to questions I can’t answer yet.

"That’s not the topic at hand, my business is my own Luna Dawn." I answered sternly.

"I support all decisions made my Alpha King. Remember that." She smiled gently and sat back in her seat with her hands folded over the table.

"You really expect us to just meet with our enemy?" One of the members asked.

"Yes. I do. If you wish your grandpups have a home and a life to inherit." I growled.

"I can’t agree to this, absurdity." Another said.

I shot him a look "You’re free to step down from your positions if you wish to put yourself before the people."

That seemed to shut everyone up.

Phera took the opportunity to speak again. "This will happen whether you agree or not, but for your sake, fighting against fate, and the path the goddess has laid before you would be a stupidity beyond measure."

"So we have no say in this, we just let our enemy in our homes with a fucking welcome wagon?" another alpha growled with displeasure.

"Yes. If you think this makes me happy, you’d be sorely mistaken. I have as much a choice in this as you all, this is the goddess’s will, and I won’t be the one to defy her." I paused, "Will you?"

As expected, my question was met with crickets. No one answered.

"It is understood, then? My business here is concluded, I will take my leave." She turned away from the table and sharply to me. "I expect my room to be completed. Shortly."

"It’s already in the works, Phera." I nodded to her. "You are dismissed." She bowed her head and left.

"Where is she going?" Damon asked me through the channel.

"Probably back to my room. Odette has training today." I answered him.

"Oh, yeah, a goddess in training. Can’t believe our future Luna is a vampire and a goddess. Crazy." Damon chuckled.

"I will get with each of you to assign you your duties and responsibilities. This meeting is adjourned.
