Chapter 82: I’m warning you

~ODETTE’S POV~

"If you touch me, I swear you’ll regret it." I growled at the four people standing before me.

"Ha, there’s four of us and one of you, what the fuck do you think you can do against us?" The male wolf finally spoke.

"The odds aren’t in your favor; I’ll tell you that." I replied with a snarky tone.

"Is that so princess?" The man gave me a toothy grin. The male was a gamma but the three girls where omegas. They weren’t fit to be my opponents.

"I really wouldn’t do what you’re thinking you’re about to do." I gave one last warning.

But she didn’t listen and made her move.

Charging me and darting left with her friend darting right, they tried to flank me.

I didn’t use my air abilities when I fought with Jaylin, but now. Now I will.

Throwing my hands down, wind followed. My body was flung upward. I landed on the ceiling, one leg crotched beneath me and my other stretched out and placed both hands on the ceiling in front of me.

The two wolves collided with one another beneath me.

Shoving myself off the ceiling I dropped with incredible speed and force on top of the two women slamming their heads into the wood, splitting it.

The two girls groan, struggling to push themselves off the ground.

"I warned you." I growled. Standing up I slam my foot down on one of their hands and then kicked the other girls square in the jaw.

The two girls on the ground whimpered.

"You blood sucking bitch." The last omega said.

I gave her a menacing grin.

"Actually, I feed on energy, kinda like this." I sent trestles of energy toward her and gripped her by the neck, and pulled her toward me, the tips of her toes dragged across the wood floors.

Her face landing in my hands, she fought against my grip, clawing at my hand.

"Stop." I commanded, and she froze. Her nails digging into my skin. However, I didn’t care. I drank from her. Feeding on her energy, her eyes grew heavy, her body went weak, before fainting. I let her drop to the floor with a hard thud. When I looked back up the man was standing mere inches in front of me.

He punched me hard in the face. I stumbled backwards some, feeling warm liquid lift on my skin. I wipe it from my mouth and smile. Just as I was about to lunge, I felt his presence before I even saw him.

In the time it took to blink he’d appeared behind the man. His eyes glowing a violent fiery gold.

"You dare, under the same fucking roof as your alpha king, put a hand on his mate" His wolf joined in with his growl.

"M... M... Mate...? How can that be? She’s a vampire? And the daughter of our greatest enemy?" The man shouted, he was trembling, he smelled like fear.

"My greatest enemies are traitors." And as he said those words he reached out and snapped the man’s neck.

Looking at the three unconscious women on the floor first and then looking at me.

"Trouble sure likes to follow you, almost as much as me it seems." He spoke so indifferently, like the fact he just killed one of his own pack members didn’t faze him in the least.

"They started it." I defended myself.

"And you finished it. Good, they should know there place, and that’s beneath you." He spoke so coldly about them. It almost hurt.

Almost.

"You’re not mad?" I questioned him. Was he crazy?

"Not at all, I’d have done far worse to them, if I caught them, like I did him. Did they hurt you?"

I look down at my wrist, where the girl had dug her claws into me, and the wounds were gone. Guess I fed enough from her that any damage she did was gone before I had the real chance to notice it even there.

"No, whatever wounds they did inflict, are gone now, since I fed from that girl." I said and pointed to the chocolate haired girl. "You’re not going to ask what started it?"

"I’m just going to assume girl jealousy and speciesism? They didn’t like the idea of you as a vampire being with me, their alpha king?" He asked casually, dusting me off and checking me over for any sign of injuries.

I was shocked he guessed it on the first go. I mean the speciesism part, that one is kind of obvious, but the jealousy part, that I didn’t expect him to pick up on without any real evidence.

"Did I make the mark?" He asked with a hint of a joking tone.

"Yeah, how’d you know?"

"Because women from my pack were involved. Because I’m unmarried and unclaimed, they ALL think they can have a chance with me." He sounded cocky with how he said that. Which forced me to roll my eyes at him.

"What a predictable response from you, you’re so hot headed." I noticed the girls still hadn’t moved. They didn’t smell dead, and I could hear their hearts beating steady, so why were they still out cold? I nudged one of the girls with my foot, and her body laid stiffly on the ground.

"Should you call for a healer?" I ask a sliver of concern laced my voice.

"Yeah, I’ll mind link Damon and ask him to bring the girls to the infirmary and to send one of our their pack healers to take a look at them. Is that good enough, can we return to the party?" He asked, extending his arm to me. I place my hand in his, resting it on his forearm.

He brought me back to the buzzing party the main course was being served.

"Elk steak, with roasted garlic carrots, asparagus, and a garlic butter pasta." The servant told me, "It comes accompanied by this merlot, the bitter dry flavor in the wine helps neutralize the garlic in the meal while complimenting the herb flavors of the elk steak marinade."

"That was so insightful, thank you for that." I smiled sweetly. And for a moment, I felt like my mother. Pleasant and enjoyable. Not awkward or cold.

It came so naturally with these people. How weird... A vampire feeling so at home with wolf shifters. The idea is positively absurd. I chuckled inwardly to myself.

"My pleasure, Princess Odette." The servant moved back to his cart and collected another plate for Beta Damon, who sat on the other side of me.

I started eating and it tasted like heaven in my mouth. The elk practically melted on my tongue; it was so tender. And the servant was right, the wine absolutely was the perfect partner to the meal.

"We fly out tomorrow night. My work here is done after tomorrow. I’ll give her a run-down of how things work and who’s in charge of what department, I’ll give her the access codes for our systems and then we’ll dip out and head back home. How about that?"

"Really? But I like it here." I pouted.

"Yeah, well I miss the green trees and sunlight." Ambrose rebutted.

"Will it still be green in the mountains up there? Won’t the colors be changing? We’re going into October." I asked, reminding him.

"Ah, even better, then, I love the colors of fall."

I wasn’t ready to leave yet; I still haven’t visited the library here.

As if reading my mind, he asked on que "What? Not ready for us to return?"

"No, if I’m being honest, I still haven’t gotten the chance to visit the library."

He busted out laughing.

"What? What’s so funny?" I felt slightly embarrassed at him laughing at my interests.

"The library back home is worth coming back even sooner, if a good library is what you’re after. We have the largest library on this side of the supernatural world." He bragged.

After finishing dinner, dessert was served. It was surprisingly simple. A chocolate cake, with gourmet homemade ice cream.

The cake was fluffy and moist. The icing was sweet and velvety smooth.

Everything about this meal was perfectly crafted and thought through.

The whole event was amazing and went so incredibly flawlessly. Outside of the little mishap in the hall, this has been the perfect evening. The best party I’ve ever been too.

"Should we retire soon? I don’t know how much longer I can hold out or how many of these male unmated wolves’ stares in your direction before I go insane." He said low in my ear.

My whole face heated up at his bluntness.

He chuckled low, the sound vibrated in my ears sending chills down my back.

My body responded to his insinuation instantly. An ache developed in the pit of my stomach, one that made my womanhood pulse.

"I can smell your arousal. Odette, that means others can too."

"Shut up." I growled annoyed embarrassment; it was his stupid fault for speaking to me like that and say those things.

"Never, lets retire for the evening. I’m ready for my personal snack."
